  1. Thank you everyone for your replies.
  2. I know. I'm just trying to tell myself that things I do all the time like driving carry risks also. I guess b/c I have never really had surgery before, this feels so much more extreme or riskier.
  3. I would probably ask to hold off as long as you can on actually ordering your dress. if it's like the end of August, I would get whatever size you are at that time and then have the dress taken in closer to the date if needed.
  4. I have a similar issue. I'm at a 40BMI now but have not been there for 5 years. I have been over 35 for 5 years, but don't have any major co-morbidities. I hope they approve it. Never in a million years did I think I would be worried about being "fat enough".
  5. I'm not surprised that some physicians would charge. I think it would take up a bit of time to go through your chart, review the info for the past 5 years and compose a thoughtful letter. My children's pediatrician charges $10 to fill out very basic physical forms.
  6. I'm not banded yet but I'm glad to hear you're feeling well so soon! I hope the same goes for me when my time comes.
  7. I'm hoping to be banded in October. I'm very much looking forward to losing weight and becoming a smaller, healthier me. I'm scared though. Not scared of the lifestyle change or any of that, but of the surgery itself. I'm afraid of dying on the table. I'm in my 30's and healthy (just heavy) and my BMI is 40. I have 2 small children and my big fear is leaving them motherless. They're part of the reason that I'm doing this, so that I can be around longer for them and be a healthier, more active mom, but I still can't shake the fear of "what if". Anyone else worry this way?
  8. Next week I have my first appt with the Bariatric Dr. I know to be considered for the Lap Band I need to go through a 6 month physician monitored diet for both my insurance and the practice (lehigh Valley PA0. I was just wondering what kind of diiet they usually recommend and do they prescribe meds or anything along those lines. I was just wondering what everyone's experience was.
