  1. you know....I have only lost about 2#.....the nutritionist wanted me to focus only on chewing my food slowly and not drinking while eating. She told me not to worry about any other goals for now. So, we will see what she says when I go back the first part of July. I think we will proably set some "food cut back goals". Good luck to you too!!!! It's a good journey, and like I said - one day at a time. thanks for the support. : )

  2. Im proud of you too!!!! You went through a difficult time and that can get anyone off the track of life. You just go in there and start again!!! you can do it. keep us posted.

  3. I haven't had the surgery yet but I am hoping that it will be in Sept. or Oct. I am having a day of wondering today myself. However, I truly believe that it is the best decision that i can make for myself and my health. Keep up the positive thinking!!! Also take the encouragement of all of those on here....pre band and post band.....truly a great group of people to provide information, support and encouragement. Keep in touch!!! good luck :(

  4. Let me start by saying I love this site. So many inspirational, motivating stories, nice people and a place to share/say anything. Well, I haven't had the band yet- I am desperately hoping for Sept. or Oct.- but I am freaking out this weekend. I am working on my goals my nutritionist and I set up for the month of June and I am doing well with the no soda thing.....but the chewing/waiting one minute between bites...not doing so well. I also question myself (I have read other posts of people who have felt this way too.) and my ability to "get it done" this time. I have spent most of my adult life battling my weight, trying, succeeding and then ultimately gaining weight back on every possible diet. Im scared, but so ready for a change. Ugh...Im just really complaining today!! :( Good luck to everyone and thanks for the forum for support!

  5. Well- I had my first nutritionist appointment on the 4th. I was so excited to just get started with the 3 month supervised diet. She briefly went over what was entailed with the surgery and the pre and post op diet and some of the rules. Then we set some goals for the next month:

    1. dont' drink with meals (as right now that is a biggie for me)

    2. chew, chew, chew, and wait a minute between each bite.

Ok.....so the not drinking with meals is going well (and I know we will change this to not drinking before and for sometime after), but the waiting one minute between bites is pretty hard for me....Oh well, just keep on trying. (I just keep telling myself.....if i don't slow down(once i have the band)its all going to come back up). Learn it now and it will be better/easier later. I have my psych evaluation on the 16th....kind of worried about that, but I have read in other's blogs that it isn't so bad. I truly am happy to have found this site and am happy to be able to connect with others who are going through the pre surgery part and with those who have had the surgery. It is great to have all of the support and validation etc. etc.......ok....thanks for listening today. Good luck to us all!!!!! Keep up the good work one and all.

  6. I wish you the best of luck for surgery and beyond. I have my first nutritionist appt. tomorrow to start my 3 month supervised diet. Im looking forward to the journey, but scared too. So glad to have this site and good supportive friends and family to help through the process. talk to you soon.

  7. i have my first visit with the dietician on thursday to start my 3 month pre surgery diet (insurance required)....but the biggest thing i am worried about it the liquid diet!!!!! i can't imagine it. I was thinking of a ceremonial last dinner too when the time comes. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life though....i know it will be tough sometimes but so worth it. good luck to you....hope to talk to you again soon.

congrats to your husband too!!!! that is such an accomplishment.

  8. Hey there-

I went to a seminar around the 15th of May, filled out paperwork, had first appt. with the nurse practitioner last week and have my first dietary consult (for my 3 month pre surgery dr. supervised diet- per insurance) next Thursday. That being said, it should be Oct. when I have surgery-pending the psych eval (also insurance requirement)etc. So all in all, I would say it can be a pretty fast process 3-6 months. I have just recently joined this blog/support group. I have to say it has been really helpful. Good to know that we can be here for eachother. Please feel free to message me any time!!! good luck!!!!

  9. Good luck!! I think we all at one time have second guess ourselves. This is a choice that is yours and yours alone, but the support of others is key!! This site is helpful too because you can talk with others going through the same thing. I understand asking ourselves about...'am i just being lazy?' However, it is just not true. We have tried everything in the book and consistently hit some kind of road block....we know what to do, we know how to exercise but there is just always a stumbling block. The surgeon that did the seminar i went to and the nurse practitioner said some things that really helped me....."society has conditioned us to think of food as rewards, society has conditioned us to think that it is just as simple as eating the right pre packaged food......however, sometimes it is not that simple." they also said that obesity is a disease....for some reason that reasonated with me...it made me think of it in a whole different way. I am rambling....but I do wish you the best. I have my first nutritionist appt. tomorrow. -as for the fills and follow up appts. insurance should cover those too....just might be a co-pay. talk to you again soon!!!!
