  1. Thanks for your reply. Yes I get air and burping. Sometimes I can't get the burp out and the air just stays or I have an internal/incomplete burp. (Annoying) But the worst is the pain as food goes down. It is sooo painful and uncomfortable. Could you tell me more about your experience as the food goes down etc.? When did this firt occur? After your firt fill? second also? third? What exactly did you experience? What did you surgeon say? Did you have to get an unfill? Partial? Complete. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
  2. Thank you, Dawn. I know it sounds like reflux except for the fact that its as the food is going down. Reflux its when something (acids or whatever) are coming back up. Im not having a problem after the food goes down. its the ride down thats painful. Thank you for clarification on the sweet spot, though. If you are right, or rather if I am like you, than I think I've found that because I am definitely eating less. There is something telling me to stop. thanks again:-)
  3. thanks so much for your responses. I am definately going to peak with my surgeon ASAP (which will hopefully be Monday) For now I will just drink my protein shake for breakfast, something mushie for lunch and then a solid for dinner. This seems to work pretty good. I have an inamed band. the smallest size. it was not filled at all during the surgery and I had a 1.4 cc fill (my first), over 6 wks post-surgery. I will keep ya'll posted. K
  4. Hi. I had surgery on 8/1/06 and my first fill was 1.4 cc on 9/14/06 (more than 6 weeks after surgery) I have been havinf a lot of pain with solids and it has nothing to do with my band being too tight (I dont think). As soon as I swallow any solids food, no matter how well I chew, it gives me immediate hearburn. From feeling like hard stabbing pain to the burn that feels liek a fire. And its all from my throat to top of stomach. I feel this pain way before the food would have had time to reach my stomach so I know its not directly about the band rtestriction. I cannot eat any solids til late afternoon and only after Ive eaten liquids or mushies every three hours before hand. Has anyone experienced this? Can you give me some advice or insight? I have not been able to speak with my surgeon yet. Thank you soo much. Im so uncomfortable :-( PS when I can finally eat, I do not feel much restriction at all. I'm definately not at my "sweet spot".

  8. Leatha g: thank you so much for re-posting this. This is exactly the stage I'm in right now. I was banded on August 1st. Lost 10 pounds durign the very restrictive liquid/mushie immediate pot-op phase and haven't lost anything since. I feel I have little IF ANY restriction and am definately eatign more than 4 oz. per meal and eating foods I shouldn't liek sweets and other high calorie things. I don't get my fist fill until September 14th. I can't wait. I can't wait to have the band work as the tool it is mean to. Thanks again. It really does help us newbies to hear info. like that.
  9. .....this thread. I think it is negative and only fosters more of the negativity that some of you are complaining about. Some of us ARE new and this forum is for all of us, not just those who have had their bands for a while. And need I remind you, we are all human? We all have weaknesses. Some may have been more successful at straying from temptation, others not as much. Be kind to one another. Geez. This isn't a bash site it's a support site. It is so discouraging to see a thread like this. Can't some complaints be kept to ourselves or voiced in private messages in order to comiserate? I try not to bother everyone with certain questions which I'm sure have already been answered (but I can't locate the answer), like when I private messaged someone to ask what DD and DH mean. They were kind enough to respond and in addition explain PB and some others to me. Can't you all remember when you were barely two weeks out etc.???? How were you treated? I'm assuming pretty well or you wouldn't have continued using the site. Also Just because you may have been able to abstain from giving in to temptation visa-vi food, doesn't make you a marty (sp?) Maybe your you have more difficulty in other areas of your life where, I for example, might be sronger. Who knows? I just think that this thread is so insupportive and against the purpose of this site. :cry
  10. Caroline, thank you so much for yoru thoughful reply to my mistake. Fortunately, I was already feeling better later that night. (I believe you wrote back a few days later.) But now I have some ideas of what to try in the future, whether I intentionally do the wrong thing in a moment of weakness or by accident during the learning curve that is part of learning how to live and eat with the band. Again, I appreciate your post. You were only banded one day after me and yet you were so helpful. Thanks you.
  11. Josette. :-) Do you think any of it had to do with the fact that the salmon was well done and that we aren't supposed to eat rice? I think its a combo of: Im not supposed to be eating solids yet, I ate too much, I ate too fast and I ate well done fish and white rice. BOY DID I MAKE A REAL STUPID MISTAKE. :cry :scared: :cry thanks again
  12. Diva, thanks for explaining. I guess we all have different ways of communication (obviously! lol) and I do tend to be a very sensitive person.....I just really wanted help to feel physically better right now./then. I do feel a lot better now.
  13. Diva: I know i made a mistake. and I know i wasnt supposed to eat what I did. We are all human. and I am also struggling with quitting cigarettes and still having cravings for that! OF COURSE MY SURGEON etc at the hopsital gave me proper instructions and i know what to do. As I said in my post and here, I MADE A MISTAKE. I ASKED FOR HELP, NOT "WHAT THE FUCKS?". I found your post rude and unhelpful. I am feelign very sick right now I posted to get some practical advice on how to handle present situation. I thought this site was for support, not recriminations.
  14. what I meant was between where the band is placed where its cinched around and the rest of my stomach
  15. THANKS. I actually may have some. I knew about that. I think I just can't think right now.
  16. PLEASE HELP: I was banded on August 1st. ( week and two days ago. Tonight I had a huge craving which I stupidly fulfilled: salmon teryaki with white rice. I think I ate about the same or a little more than I did pre-banded. I have such a stomach-ache. I feel soooooo sick. I feel WAY too full and like its NOT subsiding. (I finishes eating at around 8:45pm I should note that since I was banded, I have had little to no restriction whatsoever. Does anyone have any tips on how to feel better ASAP instead of waiting for this probably slower than normal digestion? Or why I feel so sick? i know they said rice may not be tolerated. I don't think anything is stuck in stoma or btwn band and rest of stomach. thank you so much in advance for any and all suggestions.

  19. Leenerbups: sounds like its where your port is. Mine is right bellow my ribcage on the left side.....just a thought...
  20. BooBoo Kitty, Hi :-) got your private message and will reply there too. I'm so glad you told me that ice on the port site helps. The people at lenox hill suck in many ways and the only thing I was ever told when I ASKED for ice in the hospital was, well, it won't help the gas...or it'll make the gas worse. Hey, it just hit me that may be why you aren't able to get rid of your....hmmmm try to lay off the ice some. because heat ...always helps gas....always. To be continued in my respnse to your other msg.
  21. RLittman and Clarity seeker and everyone...lol First, that is really neat that you all got to see eachother in the pre-op room and talk the night before!! And congrats to you. I was banded Tuesday. I had gas pains and minor heartburn and of course, port incision site pain, wed and thur. But today my biggest complaint is port site pain...oooooouuuuuch! Now that the other pains have gone down, I think I just notice it more now. I'm pretty sensitive to pain so I'm not surprised. So far, all I've taken for pain is tylenol two times. My doctor prescribed vicodin but I havent taken it.....yet. Does anyone have port pain advice besided the walking? Warm fluids are for gas, I don't think its helps portpain. in fact ive been tempted to use an ice pack on mine. No offense, but it gets really hot (and probably inflamed on inside) because my breast is on top of it. thanks :-)
  22. Leona, that sounds great. I would love to get together with you and whom ever else you might know in the area. I was just banded two days ago so of course I havent been to any official support meeting yet but I will and we could always form a less official and more social one in the city. Im getting excited just thinking about it.. I've been having some very emotional ups today of being sooo happy, almost a bliss. and no, im not taking any of the prescrip. painkiller ! lol just tylenol as needed. its a natural high. I think its part relief that everything went so smoothly in the OR and part happy to start this new imprtant chapter of my life. sorry to ramble on. ....keep in touch. Im going to look for your prior posts to see is I can fdind out how everyhting went and is going for you re: you banding so i dont ask you questios here and make you repeat yor self!! ciao
  23. Hi all. Hope everyone's well. I haven't been on , just been healing etc., resting, and eating and drinking incredibly mindfully - its about time! Thanks lapBand. I can't update / fix my signature from here (my mother's house and her Mac as opposed to my PC), but I'll do the best I can in this post: Pre-surgery weight: 235 Weight am of surgery after a clear liquid fast for one day before: 231.4 Surgery Date: 8/1/06 (two days ago!) Haven't weight myself yet and I won't until next Tuesday or Wednesday...not going to become obsessed as I have in my long ago past when I was actually anorexic twice before. WHAT CRAZINESS. Ciao!
  24. Your very welcome, Cootie :-)
  25. Tomorrow's the day. I just foiund out I have to be at the hospital by 8am and the surgery's at 10:30am. I'm so glad it's finally here so I can be glad it's over and all went well. I didn't have to follow a pre-op diet/lose weight before surgery But I am on only clear liquids today. I have to do clear liquids for only one day after surgery then directly to thin purees. Please keep me in your positive thoughts tomorrow at 10. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
