    MY EPIPHANY

I hope you took some home or away with you so you could eat a little more later. I agree eating very little is not that good for you. I am one who eats small to be small. That is small amounts at one sitting I usually try for 1/2 cup to 3/4 of food chewing well and eating slowly. I also have about 6 food sitting a day. Water in between meals. Watch out you don't get light headed because you do need the calories for the weight (fat) to come off.<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-family: tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21px; ">"I think I had about 2 tablespoons of the meat (cut in very small pieces which I chewed, chewed, chewed) and probably about 2 tablespoons of the beans. Before I knew it, I was satified, and put my fork down."</span></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#1c2837" face="tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif" size="2"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 21px;">4 Tablespoons of food equals a 1/4 of a cup and just not enough to keep you going. I wonder if stress played a roll when you where at lunch? When I am under stress I eat less. I find the more I eat up to 3/4 cup total at one time, the more I can lose. </span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#1c2837" face="tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif" size="2"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 21px;">I hope this helps. Best wishes and keep up the blogging I think it helps the most. I have been doing this now for over 2 years. imaluckydog band has helped me lose 110 pounds. </span></font></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-family: tahoma, arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 21px; "><br></span></div>

    scared

Do what is RIGHT for you. I didn't tell anyone, only my family. I have lost 110 pounds and have kept it off for over two years. I eat right and I exercise. I don't talk about myself to others non of their business. I feel great and I just had a breast reduction and tummy tuck and I can say I feel like a model. I look like one too. I love my new body and I feel great about myself. I would get banded again and again if I had too. It worked for me and I worked with my band. I eat small to be small. Best wishes imaluckydog

    90 lbs gone...

Best wishes it really is all about how we take care of ourselves. Keep up the great work. I know those stuck moments, I experienced one with a mushoom from soup not that long ago. I seemed like 4 days before it moved. It reminds me I must alway eat slowly and chew, chew , chew to beat the band. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Feeling a little discouraged

I agree with kelly111 she knows what she is talking about. I was banded June 29, 2009 and have had much success with my band. It is I had to train my mind to eat slower, and lesser amounts of food. If I want to be little, I must also eat little. Make good choices about foods. I eat real not processed, I eat fresh vegetables and always eat my proteins first. I don't eat too much and never drink with a meal. Eat slowly! I have fruit for a snack or a yogurt or low fat cheese stick. Most all I have learned it is a mind over stomach game. Be mindful and you will have success. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Starting over

You will eat what you want and what you like! Make it smart choices, Eat small amounts of fresh wholesome foods, get your proteins in first and do NOT drink at any meal as it will push the food thru your pouch and you will be hungry again in no time. These are all the bandster rules as we know them. Move forward you had the surgery to be healthy and live longer so choose foods that will support that. Remember to chew, chew, chew and eat slow. That was hard for me. I used to inhale my food. I now take the time to savor the taste and flavor of my meals and the people I am with. <div><br></div><div>Today I eat small to be small. I have had my share of ups and downs we all do. I congratulate you for getting back in the journey. Most importantly is to KEEP blogging this is where we share how we feel and get feed back from others. People will learn from you so keep sharing. Best wishes imaluckydog</div>

    8 th DAY

Best wishes, such a good feeling. Oh Happy days ahead. imaluckydog
  20. In June of 2008 I had to have my ovary's and tubes removed, the operation time about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. My weight was about 280 give or take. I was forever dieting to feel better and I felt like CRAP. I came home to recover from this surgery and my hair fell out when I brushed it. I freaked out and called the surgeon and she said I should try to eat well. In three weeks my hair stopped falling out. I got a hair cut and started to feel better about myself as much as I could at 280 - 270 pounds. Hair loss stopped and new hair started to grow back. It seemed like forever. I kept trying to diet and eat well everyday. Hair loss happened, and hair came back. In June of 2009 I had my long awaited Lap Band Surgery. My weight was about 250 pounds when I got my Lap Band. That surgery took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours in the operating room. I had a hernia that needed to be fixed as well. I went home and my hair started again to fall out this time in handfuls. So much it clogged the drain and tub would fill up. I again freaked out and called my LB surgeon and he said to start taking Biotin. I take 5000 mg a day now. In four to five weeks my hair stopped falling out and I started to get wispy new hair growth again. It seemed to take forever. It all came back. In June of 2010 my weight was a t 145-147 pounds. I just got my full body "Nip and Tuck". Breasts reduced and tummy skin fold removed and abdomen tightened. The surgery took 6 1/2 hours, I also had another hernia that needed fixing. A week after surgery, my hair again started to fall out. This time I expected the hair loss from my past experience of having surgery. This time the hair loss was way more than any other time before. I feel the hair loss is due to the length of time I was under the knife. This was the longest time by far. The longer the operation took the more hair fell out. It has been six weeks and I am still seeing hair loss. I am taking Biotin everyday and eating very well. I feel my hair will stop falling out soon. Also the recovery for this procedure is about six months. I spent more than two weeks in bed with drain and pain like I never had before. I feel great today, I am wearing compression garment bodysuit and I can bend over now. I am still not allowed to carry anything heavy. It has been six weeks and hair is still falling out but it is less everyday. I conclude that the longer the operation takes, the longer you are under the knife, the longer the hair falls out. Eating more quality protein and taking Biotin does help it has for me. I also message my scalp to stimulate the hair growth. I can see new hair growth and I know it will all come back in a few short weeks. I am not sure if everyone has hair loss? I know I have and it does get better with time. Best wishes to everyone on your journey. Mine has been amazing one and I would do it all over again if given the chance. Hair loss has not been that bad. The pain was worse! imaluckydog

I'm NOT hungry I am disappointed

I am freaking myself out by how much I am thinking about food and the wrong kinds of food too. I said thinking, I am not eating it and I do not want to start cuz I know I can at any moment. I am blogging now and my rule in no food/drinks at my computer so this is helping me at this time. I read about everyone all thinking about food, huh. I am NOT alone!! I know I am an addict for sure. I just need to vent and say yes I think about food too much! I also woke up today and packed food for my trip that I did not get to take because the train was five hours behind schedule. In the past I would have eaten over my disappointments. I still want to eat over my disappointment. Today I find myself writing to you all. I am a real person with real feelings and no one to talk too. I am so glad you are all hear for me today. I do not want to use food as a crutch today. Best wishes imaluckydog

    First Time Bloger

Follow the rules, we are all good at that especially if we want something like losing weight as bad as we do. Both comments above are spot on. I have been banded over 2 years and still take my time and enjoy every single bite. I savor the flavor of my food now. I also eat way less and way slow. I use to laugh at my fork resting on the plate, I would see just how long I could leave it there. It became a game for me. We food lovers eat too, too fast. I have to tell you I have lost 110 pounds and just had my full body "Nip and Tuck". I feel even better in my new and improved healthy body. Make sure you take the time to heal as it is from the inside out! I eat small to be small. I eat REAL food not processed anything. I take my time, I started to practise as soon as I got me date so start now and it will be a habit by the time your band date gets here. Best wishes on you journey. imaluckydog

    Happy Friday Bandsters!

Congrats, I always put a little food on my plate and moved it around with my fork as I walked around and talked to people. No one will be watching you eat. Tell her how delicious everything is. If she says anything just say you have planned all your meals out and you needed to eat at home. She will respect you, that you are not pigging out. I never told any of my friends about my band either. Just hold something and sip slowly. I always hated parties. Now that I have lost over 110 pounds I cant wait to go to them. Food will not be an issue cuz you want to feel good and look great. This is the time to follow all the rules. I did not rush back to work. I enjoyed my four weeks off. I think it depends on the kind of job you have. No lifting you are healing from the inside out. This is the time to pamper yourself. I eat small to be small. It is so amazing how little food we really need to eat to keep our bodies running. Best wishes and have a great weekend too. imaluckydog
