    Preparing for surgery

Best wishes to you. I have only had good feelings so I might not have any not so happy results. If I would think of one it will be easing back on to food after a fill has been the hardest part for me. I get stuck and it is my own fault. I tend to eat too darn fast and I need to slow myself down a lot....... I have made a few blogs and my history is similar to yours took me about a year to agree to this lap band. Then went in for surgery early. I have been banded 2 months and have taken off 50 pounds. I am very excited and I try to work well with my band as a tool for wt.loss. I am not under 200 lbs. yet but it is a matter of time. Good Luck and hope you have a happy journey. imaluckydog

Questions, anxious, looking for some support

Hi I get stuck all the time. It is not a very good feeling at all you are right about that. I even got stuck tonight. I have to eat more slowly and take smaller bites and let the food go in me slowly!!! I am just trying to remind myself so it will not happen again. It happens to many. You will find that you will be able to eat certain foods and maybe not others it is a trial and error thing. Did your Dr. give you the food list? That is sort of important. I hope you feel better and I do not think you hurt anything but always check with your Dr. Best wishes imaluckydog
  3. Hi I am glad you joined us on our Lap band Journey. It is so nice to know that others care. It is important to me to be happy as I make my way on this Lap band trip of ours. I am also exercising it helps to keep me positive and gives me more energy. Mind you I am not killing myself either. I have been full since I was banded. That is a good thing. Keep in touch and best wishes. You will do well. imaluckydog

    This is new

Wow I had that happen, twice. I found I had to wait a good seven minutes before I took another bite. I am wondering if it is a muscle thing? I just need extra time in between swallows. I even chewed even more. If it happens again I am calling my doctor that is for sure. It is scary huh!!! imaluckydog

    Oh It?s a Wonderful Life!!!

Oh It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I had lunch with a LB sister this afternoon I met her in my psych class. She made for me some wonderful African Chicken with Couscous. I had no idea Couscous had so much protein? Go figure, the things I learn in a day. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I had my second fill today and it gets easier to have a fill. YES, it does get easier trust me!!!! It’s a Wonderful Life!!! My first fill took almost 20 minutes, she could not find my port and I dislike long needles poking into me and causing me pain, unless they are for sewing. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! The LB helps me to make excellent food choices today. I am on a 48 hour liquid and soft food stage after my fill today. That is a bummer because my husband caught a 200 pound Tuna and we were going to have tuna steaks for dinner opps!! Change of plan for me. Oh well it will keep, it is that fresh. I just love a good liquid drink. LOL It’s a Wonderful Life!!! My son had his Twenty First birthday today so it is a special day for me too. I am starting to lose all the baby FAT remember he is 21. I have lost and gained his fat for 21 years. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I am now working on losing the baby fat from my daughter. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I have taken off 50 pounds. People who have not seen me in a while run up and say “wow you look like a different person”. I still see the fat dog in the mirror GO Figure. I put on a classy party dress last night I saved to wear one day. It cost me a small fortune, I am glad I got to wear it again. What a treat it was even a little roomy. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I got my band a month early and that was so exciting, June 29, 2009. I have been banded now for two months. I wake up with a smile on my face and I go to bed with a smile on my face. I eat what I like to eat. I eat slow and plan ahead. Do not drink with meals and I stay full for a long time. I eat little if any sugar. I have not had a Fresca in two months. I do not miss it any more. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! I even saw my Doctor today and I called across the hall how much I love him. He was on his way to another patient and smiled at me and I said all I do is smile now. I was only seeing the fill nurse. But I felt I had to let him know how much he means to me. I have a happy, healthy, interesting, and exciting new life. It’s a Wonderful Life!!! and imaluckydog Kathy I can’t wait for tomorrow. I love playing with the band.
  8. Hi Laura, When I stopped drinking with my meals I felt fuller longer. It was the hardest thing I have ever done NOT to drink with a meal. Almost as hard as when I quilt smoking so that says a lot!!! We grow up thinking we have to wash our food down with something. The Lapband works when you do not drink with meals it took me a while to figure this out. I do not own a scale so the only time I get weighed is at a fill. I am very pleased with my down ward progress, I am also working hard at making Good Food Choices that helps too. I think about you often. Glad to hear things are OK. Keep me posted Love imaluckydog Kathy hey I am not under 200 yet it will be a while but I know it will happen. Best wishes and BE HAPPY

  9. Hi I just love what this band has done for me. I read your blog all the time. I makes me happy. I have had some very GOOD days and they are only getting better every day. You will have to let me know when your restriction kicks in. I had lobster bisque. I went real slow. I probably will not feel it for a few days. I am trying raspberries tomorrow! Thanks for sharing. imaluckydog Kathy

  10. Hi How are you???? I had my second fill yesterday. It went better than the first one. I am on a liquid / soft food stage for 48 hours. I feel full so I am having to really try to drink and eat. Hope all is well with you. Thinking about you. imaluckydog Kathy

One of the longest week of my life!!

You have a lot on your plate. Try to keep the focus. Stay calm and it all will happen in due time. It is so exciting the LB journey I must say. I got banded a month early I only had two days to prepare my self and my head. It was a nightmare for real. A spot opened up on a Monday and I was asked on a Friday if I wanted the spot!!! Heck Ya!!!!! It is so worth all the effort you have to go thru. We are all here for you so let us know how you are doing. Best wishes and Happy moving. imaluckydog

Oh I had nightmares. No kidding. I did have a hernia but the Dr. said it is common place and many people do not know they have them. He fixed mine and I never had any problems. You are not alone, Good luck and rest up after your surgery. Can't wait to hear from you again. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. imaluckydog

    2nd fill today

Hello, I got my second fill yesterday. Wow!! I was told I had to do a liquid / soft only for 48 hours after the fill. I am surprised that berries and cheese you could eat? Any way before the fill I was also eating way more than I though I should. I still lost weight go figure. You are right the exercise helps so much. Have a great day;-) I love playing with the band. imaluckydog

    New Hope--Second Lapband Fill

"Instead of being stretched around my fat, they now drape around me gracefully." I love what you said, Thanks. I wore a dress the other night I never tossed because I spent a fortune on it. I am so glad as it hung gracefully on me and I got so many compliments I felt GREAT in it. I love my Lapband too. I had my second fill yesterday I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band so I am full and on liquids for 48 hours. I can handle it. It has given me a new found HAPPINESS and my SMILE is back. Have a great day. imaluckydog

7 Weeks Post Op and My Thoughts Today Are on Food

Hi, I just had my second fill yesterday. Good Luck to you. It was so much easier than the first one. I was banded June 29. We are sort of Band Buddies I think. "I just need to concentrate on the right way to live a healthier life." I love what you said it is so TRUE. Thank you This is so true for me too. I have been finding just one thing to be happy about each day. My smile is so BIG today. Food tastes good today even if it is LIQUID, LOL, nothing fits (that is good) as clothes are falling off me. I am going to have to get the sewing machine out. I'm happy about that. I drink the water not with meals and stay full longer. My weight seemed to have stalled as well but I lost five pounds in a month so that is cool. I do not weigh myself everyday only think about it. I have lost 50 pounds from LB date. I have a lot to be HAPPY about. Thanks for sharing. imaluckydog Kathy

    Oh It?s a Wonderful Life!!!

My SMILE this morning is so BIG!! I feel like it starts in Boston and goes all the way to Laguna Beach California. Now that is a BIG SMILE. Why Boston? I'm a new Red Sox fan and thanks to Big Pappy and his Homer we won last night. I never much liked sports but I find myself becoming more interested in other things now. I am not as interested in the FOOD and my past sad, food absorbed life. I have so much energy now. I was never interested in much before. My goal is to get back to skiing this winter with my family. Now that will be a big deal. I have no weight goals in numbers because I do not want to disappoint myself. I am not under 200 pounds yet but it is a matter of time. I want to feel normal and look normal. I want to thank everyone who has shared with me on this site you make me SMILE. imaluckydog Kathy

Need Advice From Bander Veterans About Food Intake

Ok I just had my second fill. I need 48 hours to heal. I was told to have a liquid / soft food stage for 48 hours. Go slow. I had my last fill one month ago. It took 4 to 5 days to feel a difference and yes I felt full most of the time. I needed to force myself to sit down and eat three small meals. It takes a lot longer to eat food after a fill. LauraKey is correct the body needs food. Make wise food choices and choose well. Get the amount of protein the Dr wants you to have. Do not drink with meals as it pushes the food quickly thru the pouch. You want the food the stay there so you will feel fuller longer. I hope I have helped? I feel I was asking these same questions about a month ago. Good Luck and by all means ask your Dr. They do not mind phone calls and questions. imaluckydog Kathy

    Not feeling so hot !!

I hope you feel better real soon. I just had my second fill this afternoon. I get tight around the third to fourth day after the fill. I have to be on liquids/soft foods for 48 hours after my fills. Yes, how you feel after a fill in not so very pleasant that's for sure. But that I have lost 50 pounds in two months is terrific. I will suffer and NOT COMPLAIN I love how I will feel in a few days and hear all the wonderful complements. I just love that part. Just doing my best to keep my paws out of the cookie jar. imaluckydog

    Fill week

WOW I need something to do too. This blogging has helped me keep my paws out of the cookie jar but I need to find something to do with my head or hands that is for sure. I am getting my second fill on August 26. I can't wait. I can still eat so much. I had two bites of a brownie. I am ok with that because before LB I would have eaten the entire box of them. I am so happy I was able to have just two small bites. I was satisfied. I love being happy and satisfied. imaluckydog
