Considering a lap band. Oh and hi!
Jachut is an Aussie and she has done great1 I wouldn't see how wrestling would affect the band, but that would be something to discuss with your surgeon. The binge eating........ well.. the band doesn't fix your head.. we are all emotional eaters but binging is a different more complex issue, one that would be taken up with a professional. That said, it is the best thing I've ever done for myself! GOOD LUCK

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
GOOD MORNING VIOLETS! I have a busy work day, but I wanted to check in. I DID make it to the gym this morning... it is going to be in the high 90's with heat index of 110 today.. YUCK! Kat: DF's 7 year old is our resident monster.. he is so dang handsome and charming but he will literally throw him self down on the ground screaming at the top of his lungs in public... grocery, walmart, restraunt, amusement park.. it matters not..... I often think it is a jealousy thing with my son because he is used to being the baby at his moms but he actually does it more with his mom....... part of it is dad doesn't follow through at our house and I get stopped if I do.............. last time we had him He ran from me (more likely I told him to stop and come to me and he crossed his arms, started hissing and stomped out the front door) usually at this point dad stops and lets him go.......... I didn't, I ended up chasing his butt down outside and grabbed him and then announced he was spending some quality time on his bed (top bunk) and I placed him there with him screaming the entire time........... dad tried to stop me and I unceromoniously told him that I was handling it and he was not aware of what happened so to back off............. then I told Josh that he WOULD NOT run from me because I would chase him down each and every time and he WOULD respect the rules............ anyway..... enough about that...... just know I understand. Laura: YAY 8lbs!!!!!!!!!! TracyK & MS_Jen: YOU GO GIRLz!!!!!!!!!! HAWT MOMMAz.. enjoy it! Ok... gotta go

I realize that as time goes by there is a chance I will need a revision, but heck I view that as a chance to be at a healthy weight for years and then get a new and improved version of the band! Who the heck knows what will be invented down the line. Obesity is a REAL problem and Billions of dollars are being invested to come up with a solution.... Thats why you need to make your own decision... your own path. My mom and step dad could both really benefit from a band and they have both set their minds against it, because neither of them want another surgery..... and that is THEIR choice..their path.. and I don't begrudge them in the least. I have two RL best friends who've underwent the RNY.. one OPEN one LAP, 4.5 years out my friend B has regained almost all the 120lbs she lost because after the 1st year the honeymoon was over and her pouch stretched. She is now working on getting a band around her stretched pouch. Friend 2 has lost 130 lbs and just had a boob lift and tummy tuck she looks freakn awesome, but had to fight a 15 lb regain because again she is over two years out and the honeymoon phase is over...... I don't begrudge them either.. that is THEIR path... the band just happens to be mine.............. I would do it again in a minute... I would recommend it to EVERY PERSON WHO COULD BENEFIT FROM IT! I will happily get a revision if needed.......... sorry I've got to go

Long Term Results Anyone been banded 5 years or longer?
My thought is that I lose my weight and maintain and then IF NEEDED later on down the line I will be HAPPY to get a new and improved model of band!

Whats up with my fill?
I just had my 3 rd fill and I can still eat more than 1 cup of food! I DO have a lot more restriction than I did after my first fill though! Its a process! I actually gained a pound between fill number 1 and fill number 2, but then the nurse laughed and said I was getting ready to be 'clamped' down.......... and between fill number 2 and 3 I lost 13

Let me introduce myself
Welcome to LBT! Please remember that a lot of people come here to do research and post problems they are having and then leave. Most of the "Long Timers" are out living happy lives. Band Slippage, Erosion, and Port revision are the biggest problems and those happen very rarely... the complication threads can be scarey but you have to know the possible problems going in. There are MANY, MANY people who have no problems at all. The band helps your hunger but it doesn't change your head. Emotional eating, and for me it was a process of "BREAKING UP WITH MY BEST FRIEND" food.......... no longer can I gorge myself on a pizza because I'm happy, sad, mad, or stressed.... If you eat to fast.. food will get stuck and that causes a Productive Burp or a Slime........ You really have to get to know your body. The "filled" band creates a small pouch or stoma, the pouch fills up quickly which ceases your hunger. If you choose to fill your pouch with solid Protein and DO NOT drink with your meal the protein will slowly disolve and empty out of th pouch very SLOWLY which means that you stay full longer and eat less. If you fill you pouch with crunchy/crumbly food it AND OR drink with meals it will flush the pouch much faster and you will be hungry more frequently. If you eat white doughy bread or other things with a high gluten content it will get gummy and act as a cork getting stuck, and either it has to come UP or you wait til it disolves. Personally it took me 2 years to decide to get the band. I had been sucessful with Atkins. I have lost over 80 lbs 3 times in my adult live and 20-30 lbs more times than I can count. My problem is MAINTAINING the loss.. which is were the band comes in. It is a TOOL that I use in conjuction with LC choices to once again lose this weight, but even better the ability to get fills and unfills will allow me to maintain my loss. I've even taken up exercise........... so for those looking for a quick fix or a magic surgery.. this is NOT it.... I STILL have to make the right choices and as much as I wish I didn't I have to EXERCISE....... but the band DOES MAKE IT EASIER TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES! Don't get caught up in all the negatives posted here... everyone is different.. you have to look at the ENTIRE picture... the good the bad the exercise. If you follow the bandster rules you can expect to average 1-3 pounds a week......... Look up JulieNYC, BOO, KAT, Princess in the Pep, Neal, TELLY, heck go check out the progress pic thread......... the pages are filled with HOPE, Motivation, Inspiration and people just like you and me........ then make your decision.

Lunasa, Sara: SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU! Laura: That cake looked delish! and I can't wait for your weight in either!!!!!! Terry: I just looked again at your photo's and dang woman.. did you notice your thighs are no longer smushed together??????? No wonder those pant from last week fell off! I spent a good part of tonight on the floor in my sons room coloring.. today is his 4th birthday although he doesn't know it.... my sister and her 6 kids are on vacation and DF's boys are not here so we decided to wait to have a double whammy party on the 25th with my son and my niece......... I have been down all day about it.. so I decided to make today special without him realizing it. We even went out for ice cream! (I ate 1/2 of a small blizzard) BAD Tracy.. but very proud of myself for stopping and throwing the remainder in the trash......... pre band I would of eaten dinner AND had a LARGE blizzard and finished mine and took a bite of his................ so tonight I've been trying to get in a lot of water to FLUSH IT OUT!!!!!!!!

Judy you are probably the HIPPEST preachers wife I've ever met!!!!!! You are sooooooooooo funny! Screaming Blonde!!!!! Laura: The only thing I can think of is that you've lost in places you didn't measure........ either that or.. you thought you measured the same exact places (ie boobs, waist, upper arm) but really you were off a bit..... I know it sounds confusing ... lets say you measured your upper arm as one point... well maybe last night you were further up your arm than the last time.. I dunno......... but WAYCOOL on the poker! sounds like fun! Jennifur: How did the interview go?????????? This was the foodband right? I ate way to much lunch......... I had sloppy joe meat with crackers.. I feel like a pig.
