  1. Hi, that's just mean.. sometime people say the stupidest things.. I feel the same way when I walk by a mirror, but I can tell when I put my clothes on, there looser..my sister actually said that to me, because I had told her I had lost 25lbs and she said she couldn't tell. But I told her I know you can't because I can't either, I can see it in my clothes fitting loose.... But don't worry about it.. You have lost 30 lbs thats really good, I've lost just about the same and I had my surgery on April 15th. Weight 288 the day before surgery.. Now weigh 262 but I flucate between 259 and 262. I need another fill go on Aug 10th that's the soonest dr can see me he's booked up.. Keep up the good work.. Be encouraged.
  2. Hi, I seem the same way you feel it's been exactly 3 months today for me since I've have the surgery, and I've only lost 26-30 lbs. I keep telling myself though everyone's body is different some of the blogs I've read where people have lost 64lbs and up.. but everyone loose at there own pace, our bodies are different. I do feel that I'm loosing slower than most people though..I'm due to get my 2nd fill on Aug 10 can't wait.. tried to go earlier but that's the earliest the dr can get me in.. but that's ok.. Let just be thankful for what we have lost.. Keep up the good work.
  3. Hi Carlee I have a friend who had her lapband done in mexico a 1yr and 2months ago. She was a self pay. She does not go to mexico to get fills done, because that's to costly and besides the whole fill process only take 5 minutes at the most.. She goes to a dr locally here in Florida and get hers done. Her charge is 200 bucks and she said if she has to have fluroscopy it's more. She's only had 2 fills and her port has since flipped and she doesn't want to get more fills because the dr has to poke her serveral times and can't find the port. She knows she need to have it fixed but she doesn't have insurance so for now she's just dealing with it and has only received those 2 fills from a local provider. Hope this helps, from what I hear it's very costly without insurance... I had my band done on April 15th and thankfully I have insurance so I don't have that problem. I just pay a copay. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I understand how you feel and where you're coming from. I'm 3 my post op as of July 15th and I've only lost about 25-30 lbs it's goes up and down also.. But just to say I think you're doing great with a 30 lbs lost in 6 weeks... that's good... I had my first fill on june 15th and I haven't feel a bit of difference... I called the dr's office and they can't get my in until august 10th they were book all the way up until sept and they squeezed me in.. Thank U I'm like... I only do protein shakes in the morning and yougurt and had been doing soups for lunch... and eating a normal dinner.. I kind of got discouraged also.. But I must admit over the 4th of July weekend I was bad.... I needed a break from the usual... and then to top it off I went to my Pcp on yesterday and she indicated the weight was coming off slower than she expected.. I'm like oh my goodness I'm really stressing now. but she said she's still proud of me and that good.. I'm like yeah right... Hang in there I know we'll get through this.. Be blessed.
  5. You go slim2be.. that's great.. Happy 1yr anniversary.. I think you have done great. Thanks for the encouragement.. I'm almost 3 months post op... Looking forward to loosing more weight.... Keep up the good work..

Hi, there when did you have your surgery? How many fills have you had? I've only had 1 fill, and it's been 2 weeks since the fill and I can still eat anything, and don't have much restriction either. I had surgery on April 15th and my first fill was June 15th, I'm schedule to go for my second fill on August 24th, but I might be going earlier if theres still no restriction. From what I hear reading on the site is that is usually takes a couple of weeks for the fill to kick in, so I'm going to see how it does mid July.... Get some exercise in if you're not exercising. .. Be encourage dont' give up..
  7. Thanks what a great article.... so true..
  8. Have you spoke to your dr about this? Have you had a fill? If so you need to call and schedule another one... Everybody is different. Keep doing what you're doing as far as exercising it'll start back coming off.. and I think the 5 day pouch test is a good idea.. go back on full liquids and see what happens, I had my first fill on the 15th of June, and the dr put me back on liquids, then mushies... The first 4 days of liquids I lost 5 lbs,, but I must admit, I thought I was going to die, becasue I was soooo hungry,, Aw man, I thought I wouldn't make it....you can do it.. don't give up.. I'm on my first full day of mushies, probably want loose any, but don't give up.. Be encouraged you can do it...this website really helps me a lot and encourages me.. Thanks to all the bandsters...
  9. LOL.. I'm semi addicted, I'm at work also doing the day and I'm on it, I like to read others experiences, then when I go home I get on it, not as much becasue I have to listen to my husband say something about it.. LOL my new best friend, I told him it's very informational to learn from others, he need to find him a hobby... So I try and wait until he goes to bed, then jumps back on it.. LOL... but I really love this website only been reviewing it for about 4 months. It might get old later on...
  10. I'm sorry for the negative comment, but some people are just jealous, plain out jealous, that's why I didn't tell a lot of people either, because I didn't want to hear the negative comments, keep them to yourself, it's your decision you're happy with it, and that's all that matters, whatever kind of surgery you have there are risk.. ie infections that's what comes alone with some surgeries, and you don't have to have lap band to have an infection... duhhh.. as far as your sister is concerned she probably was just happy for you, I told my sister and I didn't tell her not to tell anyone but she did tell one of her friends.. but it wasn't a biggie..your sister is just excited for you so don't go so hard on her... just let her know from here on out to keep it shut..or else.. LOL... You will do great I'm 2 months post op..
  11. What is a revision? getting the paid replaced or something? Why did you have to get a revision? Hope everything works out.
  12. Very good. I like your positive attitude. Congrats...
  13. Mashpotatoes was my favorite, they fill you up.. and Baby food fruit was my favorite, pears, strawberry/peach... good flavors.. hate sweet potates.. LOL..

Happy Anniversary, I feel the same way as far as Father's Day is concern, I usually take my husband out to dinner, and I'm on a liquid diet until next Monday.... due to getting my first fill on Monday the 15th.

Hi Eileen, I'm understand how you feel, I had my first fill on monday 15th, and I have been so straving... At least your doctor put you on liquids for 3 days, mine put me on for a week, and I'm about to die.... I have lost 5lbs since Monday, but due to straving...LOL... My doctor told me to come back on August 24th for my next fill, but if I don't feel any restriction once I start eating I'll go back sometime in July,, but with having to be on this liquid diet for a week, I dont know if I want to go back earlier.... Hope everything works out for you.
  16. Maybe you should go and get another fill since it's been a while, your body has gotten acustomed to how you started eating. Don't give up.
  17. Congrats.. what type of plan did you have? ppo/hmo?
  18. Hi, at first when I told my husband that I wanted to do this, he was against it.. but as restless money mentioned I took him to the seminar with me, and they explained everything and he was able to hold the lapband device.. After everything was throughly explained he had no problem with it, besides I was going to get it done anyway but it helps to have his approval.. He has been really supportive of me over all the years dieting and spending money, so we looked at it as a way to stop spending on this diet and that diet.. Take him with you, I hope he understands...
  19. Yes, the liquid phase does suck, I was banded on Monday the 15th, and the dr put me on a liquid diet for a week, OMG.... yestereday I thought I was going to die....Going from eating for 2months back to liquid is a shock defintely.... I was banded on April 15th. I'm doing the protein shakes, and yougurt but that's still not enough, my friend told me to have some soup also, but I'm not sure if that's considered liquid??? but from reading the post I gues so, my stomach is a little swollen from the fill so I guess that's why you have to go back to liquids.. :wink2:
  20. Hi, I had to wait 6 months also, because I had to take the weight loss classes for documentation, I could have seen the surgeon before then, but it was no need to because I hadn't completed the process recommended for Humana Insurance, after my last class I saw the surgeon the next week, I see him on March 9th and was banded on April 15th. The longest part of this process was the documentation of 6 months, which I had prior but the pcp I had at the time didn't want to sign off... But it's all worth it trust me.... Everything will work out.
  21. I had my first fill on yesterday, and my dr told me liquids for the next week.. Maybe that's why he said that because your stomach is inflamed and can't tolerate the solids right now....
  22. Wow, that was a big fill, I recv my first fill on yesterday 06/15 and he gave me 2.5cc.. on liquids for a week, so I hope I will have restriction when I start back on solid foods.
  23. Hi, it all depends on your insurance company....I'm assuming if your facility bill is 7,000 dollars you would have to pay 1,400 that's 20% which would be your portion. And so on and so on, with the surgeon and anethesologist. I just had a 1,000 dollar dedcutible and that's all I had to pay, everything else was 100%. I hope this helps.

Good morning everyone, I had my first fill on yesterday, I was scared becasue I didn't know what to expect, it really didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, but it was a little un comfortable, to feel pressure. I was filled with 2.5 cc, I beleive that's what the dr said. If it wasn't 2.5 it was defintely 2. Back on liquids for a week, wow...
