Severe acid reflux
YES!!! I've been having trouble off and on since Christmas. Doc unfilled me in Jan. and that helped for a little bit but it came back with a vengeance! Found out that I was eating all the wrong foods and when you have a tiny little pouch for your food, the wrong kinds can really hurt! Was told NO...chocolate, caffine, tea's unless they are herbal decaffinated, spicy, greasy, deep fried, acidy, citrusy, tomato based, and strong spices like mint or cinnamon. All the foods I love basically, and ate a lot of! Also a big no-no is NSAID's like Ibuprofen. They have me taking basically two previcid (40 mg total) a day one pill every 12 hours until told otherwise and no eating or drinking for 3 hours before bedtime. I also sleep propped up on 3 pillows. I go in for GI Tests and lapband inspection this Friday. Don't let it go for too long though, if it persists definately see your bariatric doc! Many bad things can happen if you let this go for too long! Good luck!

Help! Need encouragement and answers
Hi Daniel, Sorry you're having such a difficult time this last month and a half. I bet the new fill will start helping. You just have to stick to the "rules of the tool", no more than 1/2-3/4 cup at a sitting, 75% protein & 25% good carbs (track your food, it's so easy to forget and over do it!), 64 ounces of water (30 min before and 1 hour after eating), at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. I kinda know what you're going through, I've been on a 6 month stall...lost 7 pounds in 6 months! It was, however because I was not following the "rules". They really are important to the weightloss process. Once I started following them again, the weight started coming off again! Good luck with everything! It can definately be a difficult lifestyle change...ya just gotta do it, for you! I'll be rooting for ya!

How long have you been banded - Poll
Hey thanks Brad! Same to you! Very nice job! Has it been hard to keep it off, since you've reached your goal?

How many calories a day do you eat?
I was banded on May 1, 2009 had lost 100 pounds at 8 months. This was at Christmas and I started having sweet craving at that time. I've been terrible with the sugar since then! Have still lost 10 pounds despite this but it definately slowed to a crawl and I haven't felt as good as I was eating healthier. I just recently started back on track and am losing more quickly again, and feeling better too! My nutritionist told me that I can "Cheat" once a week, so I have a blizzard from Dairy Queen or something like that once a week and that has definately helped me stick to a better way of eating. I know how hard it is, good luck with everything!:smile2:

How many calories a day do you eat?
My doc and nutritionist said not to worry about counting calories. With the small amount of food we can eat, they want me to focus more on the right types of food, 75% protein and 25% good carbs, every 3 hours. I've been, what I feel to be, very successful with following these guidelines. Lost my first 100 pounds in 8 months! Slowed down drastically after that but this was mainly due to my own stupidity and horrible food choices for a while. Recently got back on track and am loosing regularly again! 13-18 pounds from my docs goal for me! I'm very happy!:smile2:

How long have you been banded - Poll
I would talk to your doc! You definately shouldn't be hungry! Are you eating every 3-4 hours? I haven't been hungry at all since my surgery, May 1, 2009! And I've lost 110 pounds. I'm so sorry that you're not having a better experience with your band. Hopefully things will turn around soon for you! Good luck!

How long have you been banded - Poll
I was banded May 1, 2009. Have lost 110 pounds and really the only problem I've had is acid reflux issues. Those were brought on from my love of spicy and acidy foods though. So pretty much, my own fault! Other than that, I've felt great and am so happy! Would do it all again in a second! The best thing that I've ever done for myself!:smile2:

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
I had .5 taken out of my band because of acid reflux yesterday. Had my first comfortably sleeping night in quite a while and lost a pound last week. although it was a pound that I had gained back the week earlier so it really doesn't count. lol I'm a little worried about them taking that much out of my band...hope I don't start gaining again!!! Have a great week everyone!

Before & After Pictures
WOW! You both look amazing! So much younger! That was really cool that you could do it together! I have a cousin that had hers about a year before, so I had someone close to ask questions and talk to about it but that's nothing like having a good friend do it and go through it right along side you! Good luck to both of you and congrats on your great loss so far! You'll be there in no time!

upper back pain after eating...
Does anyone else have horrible back pain just below the shoulder blades after eating, even if it's not much food at all? :cursing: Feels like I've been carrying a very heavy back pack all day. Tummy feels a bit yucky too, at the same time-under my band. I'm about 11 months out and wonderin if maybe I might need to get a little more taken out of my band. Any ideas?

Some people don't have to do pre-op diet?
Every doc is different...My surgeon only had me do liquids two days pre surgery. That was bad enough! I really feel for you all that have to do 2 weeks! :wink2:

The last time I was this size, I was....
Last time I was this size, I was 18. I got married 2 weeks before my 18th birthday in a size 9/10 wedding dress. But...the strange thing is...I weighed 127 at that time, now I weigh 177! How is this even possible? I swear that clothing sizes have gotten much bigger over the years or something!:wink2:

5 DAY POUCH TEST - Anyone heard????
I am banded and have been at a stand still with my weight since Christmas with a terrible chocolate addiction! Probably why I'm not loosing! My support group can't say enough good about the 5 Day Pouch Test! So...I decided to try it! I just finished day 3 of my 5 Day pouch test. My chocolate cravings have disappeared, I've lost 3 pounds and...my pouch IS tighter already! I am having a hard time getting in the cup of food recommended in the 15 min's, which would've been no problem at all before! I haven't been hungry at all! And I'm feeling a lot better than I have in a while...I've just kinda been blah. I'm excited to see how the next 2 days go and beyond that...I have high hopes that this is what I needed to get me out of the slump I was in with my weightloss!:wink2:

5 Day pouch Test...
Hi Tracy, you can just google the "5 Day Pouch Test" and it'll bring it up. It's a 5 day diet that kind of simulates the first six weeks of eating after a lapband or WLS. It's purpose is to cleanse and detox your system and shrink your pouch so that you get that restriction once again. It also helps curb your cravings for carbs and sweets! I've talked to a lot of people that say it helped get them off a long plateau, kinda kick starts things again! I was loosing an average of 10-12 pounds a month until Christmas and have lost 6 pounds since then...CHOCOLATE!!! I was so addicted to it, Haven't even wanted any for the last couple of days and I've already lost 3 pounds in 3 days on this diet! Hoping it lasts and I continue to loose...maybe not quite so fast but at least a slow steady! Good luck with whatever you decide to do! .. U LaDawn

5 Day pouch Test...
Thanks for your response Julian. I'm on day 3 now and can't believe how much better I feel already! Not hungry, already feeling restriction again, and like you said...not craving anything! This is an amazing thing! So glad it was recommended to me! Oh, and I've lost 3 pounds already since my first day! :wink2:

Sweet!
Definately get up and move, and do everything your doc tells you to do. :blushing: Congrats on your surgery! Good luck with everything!

5 Day pouch Test...
Well I'm tired of loosing almost nothing since Christmas because of my munchies and Chocolate addiction! I started the 5 Day pouch test today, sure hope it helps! So far so good, have made it more than 1/2 way through the day, if I can just get through tomorrow (Day 2) then I should be okay! :blushing: Has anyone else had any success with this curbing your cravings and bumping you back on track? Also, any recommendations or suggestions on this?

Surprises during or after surgery??
I was always surprised at how "Good" I felt eating such a small amount of food and loosing so much weight as quickly as I did! I was also surprised at how quickly you find out that there are bones under all that fat! It's been 30 years since I'd seen a collar bone or rib bone! It's so cool!!!
-
I'm Skerrred!
It is totally normal to be worried and scared right before surgery-everyone is. It's such a big step and what a life change! BUT...I would do it all over again in a second! You can't dwell on the negative...POSITIVE, POSITIVE, POSITIVE. It's definately the best thing I've evr done for myself and my family! Best wishes for a very successful surgery!

Ladies... this ones for you all!

Chiropractor
I was all messed up, don't know if it was from loosing all that weight so quickly or what but I went to my doc who's also my chiro and he did a ton of adjusting...I'm SSSOOOO glad I went!!!!! Everything was very much out of wack and I feel so much better now. I'm 10 months out though so I'd talk to your doc about it first.
