  1. Reggie, I'm sure you are already at kaiser but I'm thinking about you - can't wait to read your next post. Nicole, thanks for the pep talk. I did jump on the scale this a.m. and have lost 2 of the 4 pounds that I gained. I cut out all carbs. Guess my body just doesn't do well with them. My husband has been pretty good but he messed me up a little yesterday - LOL. We are both home together on Tuesdays so we walked in the morning for 45 minutes & again in the evening for 45 minutes. He's hard to keep up with but I'm hanging tough. So, here's where he tried to mess me up. He got me a DIET COKE as a reward for doing so well on our walks. He thought he was doing good but I let him know that those are no longer in my rewards list - neither is cheese cake - LOL. I got weak & took a sip of it then poured it down the sink :cursing:. Surprisingly though, it wasn't that hard to do :cursing:. Donna, thanks for thinking of me. I will be at there Saturday if I don't get lost. I'm not familiar with Sac but I'm sure I'll find my way. Does anybody know the address of that Kaiser? PS: I keep chickening out at the pool! Really can't stand the thought of my cellulite ridden thighs on display like that LOL. Have a gread day ladies!!
  2. I hear you loud & clear Reggie - LOL. I was afraid to deviate from the diet but not now - I will stay within 1200 cal but back to cutting out carbs. Don't worry bout surgery - you will do great!
  3. Christine, that was great. This was my first time seeing your youtube site & I watched all your videos. You are too cute! I didn't realize how great you did on your own with the 1200 cal diet. You have greatly inspired me to get on it!
  4. Yes, Riley, that does help - a great deal!! I absolutely LOVE cream of wheat & sweet potatos but you & I are the same in that once I start eating it - i just don't want to stop. The cream of wheat does fill me up for quite some time but I think I'll do without it! I'm trying to get into an exercise routine! It's so hard to get started!! Got a 1.5L bottle of water sittin in front of me right now! I figure I gotta drink 1 & 1/2 of these at the very least. I found the same thing with the chicken, dry - LOL. Chewing it 30 times pretty much turns it to mush though. I use crystal hot sauce on it - LOVE IT - it helps keep it moist! I can only assume that I will have to give that up too even if it does have zero cals.
  5. Reggie, you are do so great with this pre op diet!! I'd love to peak at your food log - LOL. 2 days girl! whoo hoo!! Christine ~ OMG!!! I just saw you post - 60 lbs!!!!! You must be ecstatic!! That's great. I'm so very happy for you. Extremely Jealous but happy none the less hahahaha
  6. Hi Tina, It was me that asked about the 1200 calorie diet. I must be the only 1200 calorie reject because today I weighed myself & I apparently gained 4lbs since Tuesday - Hmmm? I think I must be geared to no carbs like you - before I started this diet I hardly ate any - even if I got a burger in the drive thru I wouldn't eat the bun & no fries - I'd have a salad with full fat dressing haha & a diet coke - out to breakfast would usually be an omelet with no hash browns or toast but I'd get tomato slices with full fat rance dressing. I was once told that once you cut carbs out of your diet you can never add them back or you will gain weight instantly - maybe that holds true for me. It could also be that I laid in bed from Thursday night till Sunday morning and did absolutely nothing due to the constant headache I had! My migraine pills (Maxalt) didn't even work - excederine took the edge off a little but then we are back to caffeine! I did walk for 45 minutes with my husband on Sunday! Today I woke up feeling fabulous! in spite of the 4lb weight gain - I am ready to rock! At 6:30 this morning my husband got up with me and power walked again for 45 minutes around the neighborhood - I ate 1/2 a chicken breast for breakfast wtih 1/2 cup green beans & 1/2 cup (60 cal) yogurt. I packed my lunch - same thing as breakfast LOL - to bring to the office with me today - helping out a friend! but I think after this I will cut out all carbs! I got a swim dress (yes a swim "DRESS") and am going to bring my fat ass to the pool tonight - I didn't make it last night! I brought it with me and am going straight there after I leave here because once I get home I know I will not go back!! Thanks, again Tina - it's a big help to know that I don't have to follow this so strickly! Hope these next 10 days go by quickly for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heather - WOW! what's your secret girlfriend?? Happy Monday ladies!!
  7. Hi Heather, So, don't take this the wrong way because I'm so not happy that you are struggling but so glad that I'm not the only one finding this VERY difficult - lol. Keep at it though, cuz I need you! Reggie & Tina, Were you two given food guidelnes? The "diet" I got said that breakfast should be 3 servings protein, 1 serving fruit, 1 serving dairy, 1 serving carbs & serving fat. Lunch & Dinner need to be 3 servings protein, 2 servngs veggies, 1 serving fruit, 1 serving carbs & 1 fat. Do I not have to follow this? Should I exchange the servings of fruit & carbs for protein or just cut out those servings? dont think I can live on just 3oz of protein for each meal - LOL i did get up and walk with my husband this morning for 45 minutes. He was kind enough to slow it down a little for me since I'm soooo outta shape. I plan to hit the gym pool tonight - after everybody else is gone! My husband has a PS3 in the living room, I can get a wii for my bedroom but it's not very big, do you need alot of room do to the exercises? My next door neighbor is so cute. I told her i was trying to lose wight and she said that i need to start doing things for myself to make me feel pretty to keep up the motivation - she's 21, thin & beautiful! She's mexican and has the perfect olive skin tone, anyway, she's waiting on me right now - she's going to shape my eyebrows for me :rolleyes2: and later we are going shopping for new panties - LOL Have a great day ladies
  8. Thanks Pam. Don't know why I'm having such a blah day!! To make things worse, I just tallied up my calories for yesterday on fitday and I went over - 1287 oops! Will try to do better today - it's a learning process and still way less than I usually eat. hahahaha. Now about exercize... Where to begin! Would love to hear how you girls started with your exercize regiments!!
  9. Good Morning Ladies, I've been reading your posts this morning and am so glad that everybody got the same feeling from Dr. Fisher. I thought I was trippin! I have my appt with him on June 3rd but since he seems so anit-band I'm wondering if he's the right Doctor for me... So this 1200 Calorie diet isn't as easy as I initially thought!! I did great till 4:00 yesteday evening - routinely I sit on my bed with a bag of almonds and snack away while watching The Doctors. Not yesterday and hopefully not today. I now fully understand the term "head hunger" I wasn't physically hungry but I absolutely could not watch my show and not snack so I had to go wash my car & keep busy. I missed the doctors. I had a slight headache still from the diet coke withdrawl so I took more excedrine after dinner and laid down - then it hit me! Excedrine has caffeine in it - grr!! This is where all the anxiety kicked in - can I really do this for the rest of my life - "forever" is such a long time - and "never" is even longer - never have pasta again, never have diet coke again, never have peanut butter again... So I woke up this morning happy that I made through yesterday but worried about today. I got on this site and read everybody's logs, saw all your progress and I WILL do this. THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE AND ALL YOU GIRLS THAT HAVE GONE BEFORE ME - LOL. I come from a long line of drug addicts & alcoholics and did my very best not to become an addict - I don't drink, smoke or do any kind of drugs but turned out to be an addict anyway-food addict! So I will approach this like atticts do: Take this one day at a time and keep it as simple as possible - forever will come on its own! Have a great fill, Christine!
  10. OK, I may be late on this one but I found a website called fitday.com where you can do an online food journal & exercized log weight tracking - all that good stuff that you probably already know about - hahaha but thought I'd share just in case!
  11. OK, I may be late on this one but I found a website called fitday.com where you can do an online food journal & exercized log weight tracking - all that good stuff that you probably already know about - hahaha but thought I'd share just in case!
  12. Ah, perfect :smile2: Thank you for that. I will try that website now.
  13. Anybody know the rules about lemon juice? I love to put a little on my veggies with garlic but I don't see it on the list of approved 1200 cal diet stuff? I've been on a 1000 diets and they've all lemon juice but I don't want to be presumptuous (sp?) and use it if I'm not suppose to????
  14. Thanks Christine!! I will see a head doctor about that head hunger LOL I will see you ladies Saturday, the 23rd! I will try to get a t-shirt with my name on it so I don't have to wait until the END of the meeting this time to meet you all. I am a little on the reserved side till I get to know you so I don't approach people well :smile2:
  15. I'll be there!! What time??
  16. No, I'm in Vallejo - but Sac is close enough!!
  17. Thanks Candy... Sounds like it really does help with the feeling of satisfaction!! I've been reading along and following your progress - you are doing awsome!! Congratulations on another pound lost!! Can't wait till that's me!!
  18. Hi All, I had orientation yesterday and now feel like I'm officially on my way to being one of you! I don't feel so out of the loop and know more about what you are talking about. My surgeon apt is 6.3.09. I need to schedule a mamogram ASAP as I just turned 40 10 days ago and need to have it done before they will band me :smile2: Dr. Fisher confused me a bit - he didn't seem to believe that the band did too much to help. He said the adds were misleading and not true - that it doesn't help take away the hunger nor does it really make you feel full faster. So I ask the question to all you experts - is it helping with the hunger & satisfaction of smaller portions??? Liz was great - she's my type of girl - straight to the point. It was very clear that she doesn't like to repeat herself LOL. I started the 1200 cal diet this morning and I was really full! I never really eat Breakfast so the getting up earlier thing is gonna take a bit to get use to. I believe it was Reggie that said it was a piece of cake and you are correct! I don't usually eat this much in one sitting but I don't usually space my meals 6 hours apart either. Not eating in front of the TV and not snacking will take me a minute to perfect but It is definately do-able! Think my biggest problem is boredom & lazyness!! I don't cook much - my husband is a snacker and won't sit for a full meal - and, when I have nothing to occupy my time - I eat. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET PAST THAT BOREDOM EATING WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! If I'm not snacking on almonds in front of the TV I am lost - hahahaha Sounds like mimi's was a lot of fun and hope to be able to join you all one day. I did get to meet Heather yesterday - she is adorable! Unfortunately, it was at the very end and we didn't really get a chance to talk - so next time!! Smallerj - just wanted to say welcome - I read these girls posts for quite some time too before I got up the nerve to join in - I always have an inferiority complex! Anyway, glad to see you in here. Have a great day ladies!!
  19. Thanks, Nicole!! Be sure to post another photo of your lunch date tomorrow!!
  20. Hi Ladies.. Thank Goodness for Heather!! Heather, I can't wait to meet you - I was getting a little nervous about tomorrow. I even tried to get my husband to come with me but ... ! So, Heather, please come up to me if you can - I am about 5'3", 230lbs (ooh, did I just publicize that??) I have dark brown hair - died to cover the gray! It's about to the middle of my back and I have grey eyes - usually puffy LOL! It will be so nice to have somebody to go thru this with!! Reggie - I LOVE THE PHOTO GIRL! You are very beautiful!! Tina, with that face you should have been use to male attention a long time ago  In fact, you all are so cute I don't know why you got the band to start with. I wouldn't if I looked as good as all of you!!! I'm afraid to put a picture up now :frown: Wish I could join you all at mimi's and finally meet my muses but I will be with Heather at orientation! I am officially on my way to being one of you!! Will write tomorrow when I get home to let you know how it goes!
  21. Hi Nicole, Thanks for the information – I love that you guys are so informative on here! I’ve given up Diet Coke before and I’ll do it again – anything is worth feeling better! Down 20 is very impressive – I can lose weight – never had a problem doing so – my problem is KEEPING IT OFF! The sleep guy told me that my apnea is mild so..? It’s more or less the waking up so much that he said is the problem. The psychologist I saw wasn’t for the bariatric program. They sent me to him because of my complaint of chronic fatigue & migraines. Since there didn’t seem to be any better answer at the time they chalked it up to depression. That was my diagnosis for years! Finally I demanded a sleep study and here we are. I hear you about flying thru this… I will try to go from desperate to patient. I’m just so tired of being tired LOL. Hey Christine, Thanks for the 411 on the carbonated drinks – I get it now. It’s well worth it to give it up! Caffeine will be a little more difficult but I’m positive I can do it without much difficulty. Donna, I will stop indulging; I will stop indulging, I will stop indulging (this is me convincing myself – LOL) – I would hate to go in to all this and come out with no band J. It is very inspirational to hear that your apnea & energy level is improving and I agree that all you Richmond ladies are incredible. Just reading the things you all say and the positive reinforcements that are given is wonderful. A refreshing break from the negativity that floats around on a daily basis!!! Hi Reggie – thinking of you too J EVERY DAY! Can’t wait to see you on the band side LOL Tina, You seem to have all this down to a science – smart lady! I love reading your posts Candy, hope all is well and I'm looking forward to your next post!! I will get on that signature, ticker & photo – I believe it is nice to have a face with the name – I enjoy all of your faces – and that picture of you guys – it doesn’t look like anybody is overweight!!! Not any real size to speak of!! I hope to join you all in the thin category soon –
  22. Oh, yeah.... RNY, Is that the bypass surgery? I have a friend that did that a couple years ago - she's 5'2 & was 312lbs. She got down to 130 but is now back up to 215lbs. They just gave her the surgery but no rules or eating guidelines - she didn't get it done thru Kaiser.
  23. Hi Reggie, I don't have a date yet - my orientation isn't until a week from today - so the 12th. My BMI is just barely 40 so I hope that I don't have to lose too much weight before I get surgery. I had a sleep study done on 4/15/09 and I have sleep apnea - This all started due to chronic fatigue & migraines! So I did the sleep test and the night I did it they said I stopped breathing and average of 5.5 times per hour and I woke up 12 times & didn't even know it!! My fabulous doctor said that I would be cured with weight loss. It's when I get overly tired that the headaches come on. They wouldn't be so bad but the nausea makes me vomit till there's nothing left! And when I'm so tired all the time I just grab something easy to eat like fast food or cookies. Something I don't have to cook. Tina, I hear what you are saying about being tired all the time but I hope It can't be as bad as how I feel now - by two I need a nap! I don't know how to do a siggy but i"ll try to figure it out - I also want to try to do one of the weight loss tickers everybody has. I'm a rookie - I'll get a pic up too as soon as i can figure it out LOL What's this you say, Tina, about having all your hair still?? Do most people lose their hair after getting banded - AND NO DIET COKE??? I'm a two liter a day type a gal - I did give it up once for about 6 months but found that I absolutely need the caffeine to stay awake. Hopefully, my doctor is correct and this fatigue will all go away with weight loss & I won't need it anymore!! Anybody else feel like this.... As soon as i found out I would be put on a 1200 calorie diet at orientation I got a slice of cake - I feel like I'm eating out of control now - like the last supper - grrr! I had a psych eval done too already (march 12th) because they kept telling me that my headaches and fatigue were caused by depression - psych said I'm not depressed - I'm "fatigued". Since I've done this already will I need to do it again? I was hopiing that I was already half way there and this would get me banded faster - Any thoughts? Hope all is well Candy!!! Every time I see your name on here I think they are talking to me for a split second. All my old friends call me that . Ok, Ladies - have a great day Candra
  24. Wow Candy, today was the day!! I am jealous - never thought I'd feel jealous of sombody having surgery. Hope you're feeling like your old self soon!! Thanks for the inf Christine! The word "radiology" had me a little spooked - LOL. Liquid chalk sounds painless enough  Reggie, I think you are correct. I am Candra &(desperate1) and meandmywieghtloss is Candy. She's the lucky one that got banded today - I can't wait!! I look forward to hearing about your journey, Candy!!
  25. Hi Everyone, Reggie, great pep talk, I appreciate it Tina, Thanks for posting your o.r. experience. It takes the nerves away when you know what to expect!! Possible dumb question... why do you go to radiology after surgery?? by the way, my name is Candra
