  1. Hi ladies! glad you all had fun at lunch - so sorry I missed it! Wish we could pick a saturday or a sunday brunch to all meet up when everybody can make. This head hunger thing has got to go! Christy, great to hear from you and I look forward to your blog- i'm not banded yet but only have 6lbs to go to surgery goal weight - then the tests, blah blah blah. Psych session today went well - apparently, I"m sane- LOL
  2. I can't do Thursdays - I have my brother's son on Thursdays - i'm usually always free on Fridays but not this :grouphug: I got my Psych appt this Friday at 11:30. I hope I can do it next time - can't wait to meet EVERYBODY!
  3. Yeah, more protein & massage your head for 5-10 min a day to get the blood circuating - also there were some suppliments listed - silica was one - ever heard of that??
  4. I looked up this hair loss issue and found this site - who know, maybe it will work! Hair Loss After Gastric Bypass: Tips For Losing Less And Regrowing More Faster
  5. I got that head hunger too! my brother is a fabulous cook & he's been BBQ all weekend! God, grant me the serenity to accept the fact I can not overeat, the courage to stop eating when my portions are done and the wisdom to know the difference - LOL. Tina, I've said this before, if it wasn't for my husband, I wouldn't be walking at all - we did 8,000 steps this morning alone and I swear he's gonna push me all the way to divorce court. Seriously, it really helps to have a walking buddy - there's a couple website called exercisefriends.com & meetup.com - maybe you can find somebody close to to walk with until you find your own motivation - I'm still looking for mine! What is it about this WLS that makes your hair fall out?
  6. morning all just checking in - been walking, walking, walking - my feet have gotten callouses and blsters (making me think of you, Riley) and my scale still isn't moving but eventually, i know it has too! Hope you all are having a great weekend
  7. Is it just my computer or are the posting times really off?
  8. Christine - GREAT motivational speach. My scale just isn't moving so I'm getting frustrated - I know it will, in time, and that I just need to look forward to the light at the end of it all! Heather, don't even tripp - I don't have any kids either (personal choice) and that did come up but given that I'm 40 it wasn't a big issue. Now, when I was your age I was 250lbs - however, Just a year prior I was 272 and let me tell you, when I put my mind to it back then, the weight came off quickly - now that I'm 40, not so much! Your scale is moving fast, girlfriend, so don't even worry about it. Did he tell you to say away from the carbs, milk & fruit too? Try that. Jess, 6lbs isn't bad at all! I think alot of it has to do with the time of day also - I always weigh more in the evening. Maybe you can weigh in at your pcp's office first thing in the morning on Monday - wear a light sundress & foam flip-flops LOL
  9. I can meet up Friday, I'm off work! would love to meet everybody!
  10. Thanks Ladies!! I just gotta hold on till I get banded - today is just a blah day for me, I guess! Here is it 4:00 and I haven't eaten a thing but a skinny decafe americano because the point I'm at right now i don't trust myself - once i start I may not stop -
  11. I belong to Kaiser and they won't do that but you should list your insurance company so somebody who has experience with that company might be able to help you better Good Luck!
  12. Hi Sammy-Jo I too have always been overweight & my Doctor "thinks" I have PCOS, I have all the symptoms but we have yet to do any tests. I have some other issues too like sleep apnea, blah blah blah... Anyway, I haven't been banded yet and, like you, was very nervous about this but I met a GREAT bunch of girls - did I say they are GREAT! - who have been banded and offer a lot of support - we are all on the thread "kaiser richmond pre op" although, like I said, most of them have been banded already. Come join us!
  13. Good Afternoon Bandster Queens! No, Tina, I didnt' get a surgery date. He said this is my car and I'm driving it so as soon as I get to goal he will schedule everything. I am more determined now to get this weight off though! Just to be under 200 would be great - I have been over 200 for the last 3 years which really sucks because after I lost all that weight and got to 160 I promised myself I'd never get over 200 agian! You see how well that went - hahaha. Oh, and the nurse had me take my shoes off to weigh in yesterday... Hmmm. Go Riley! What an accomplishment! And Christine - 1/2 way to goal is amazing. I wonder how you ladies keep the momentum going so long - hope I can do that too! Pam - get ur but in that pool with your skinny new suit!
  14. Oh, and I talked to him about the pre-op diet and he agrees with us - way to many carbs & sugar - Milk & fruit are not as good for you as you think! He doesn't care that i cut it out of my diet and said that he really hopes they revise that plan soon!
  15. I had my appointment today with Dr. Fisher - He's not so anit-lap band as I thought. Just some of the people he's encountered don't utilize it properly. He set a psych apt for me and gave me a goal weight of 205 - 14lbs to lose. Yipee! I don't have to do a sleep study since I just did one April 15th. I'm one step closer to joining you all on the band-side. Heather, your turn tomorrw - look forward to hearing how it goes!!
  16. Oh, Boy, Tina - I found a couple of my fattest pics, scanned & posted them - just remember, you asked for it LOL. I also found one of my smallest pics and it's in the random photos album. I was at my smallest about 6 yrs ago or so.
  17. Ok, we'll work it out!! Call you this evening - around 5.
  18. You got it Pam! I'll call you when I get outta this office! I live in Vallejo - Where are you? What area code?
  19. Hey Nicole, don't worry about your husband - he'll get over it! Just take care of you
  20. Good morning ladies of lap band I am truly nervous today - I go see Dr. Fisher at 3:30 - not nervous about him, just nervous about the scale. It's just not moving and I swear that I'm so not cheating. Not even a diet coke for Gods sake and I'm walking every day. BTW Riley - I love the pedometer idea because it really pushes me to walk longer! Averaging 1150 steps per day now. Power walking still - no jogging! Anyway, also upset that it is so late in the day after I'm full of breakfast, lunch, dinner & a gallon of water! Riley, you will be in onerland any day now! I feel it. Glad you're enjoying the book - I'm 1/2 way through it and haven't even made any flash cards yet and it's still helping me. Tina, I will bring it to the next meeting in Sac on the 27th. I will be done reading it by then & you can use it. I feel your pain on the clutter issue - my husband is a shop-a-holic! I have every piece of work out equipment, wights, DVD's & video games my house can hold. I just can't seem to get rid of it! We have to exercise bikes and he agreed to let me get rid of the one he doesn't use - anybody interestd in it - its only about a year old and its the kind where the pedals are more in front of you - FREE TO A GOOD HOME! Thank you, Tina, for the compliments. I wish I could see what you see in those pics. I don't have any real fat pics on my computer - just my wedding pictures when I was 250lbs - I will dig them out of storage (where I put them because I cry every time I see them) and try to scan them up here. Oh, and your daughter is brilliant!
  21. Hi Reggie - doing ok - my legs hurt like you know what and I've only lost a total of 4lbs but it's better than nothing - well if you count the 5 I gained in the beginning I'm down 9 LOL. Glad to see you're doing good!!
  22. Heather & Nicole - My doctor told me that you will never be able to stick do any diet if you don't allow yourself some freedom once in a while! The trick is not to feel "deprived". This is ONE of the reasons I chose lap band - I want to be able to have my dinner out on my birthday & anniversary - enjoy one glass or sip of red wine & a piece of cake or a bite of cake. I'm told these are things that can't be done with RNY due to "dumping". So, no worries, Nicole, about 1 tiny pound - It sounds so worth the vacation and we all know you can take that measly little pound back off in no time Same for you Heather - what's one dinner! you are doing so, so great - I doubt that one dinner did much damage - limit it to OCCASIONAL times and you'll be fine. Just put the damn straw down :frown:
  23. Ciao tutti (hi all) Hi Riley, My profile pic is about 3yrs old & 20lbs smaller. I did find some recent photos on my computer (I HATE pictures of myself) I put them on my profile. As you can see, big or small - i can't get away from my fat round face - grrr! My pics are private and only available to my contacts. I'm very uncomfortable with my appearence! Anybody on this site who is interested in seeing them let me know & I'll add you as a contact.
  24. Hey Riley - it worked - did two separate posts & shortened it as much as I could. 18,000! WOW I'm gonna hafta check out Dr. Fisher....
  25. lentils are great! I want that recipe too, Tina. Ok, I know you are a vegitarian but Pork rinds can be used in place of bread crumbs sometimes I use the spicy ones for chicken. Also, I put a recipe for some carb free rolls on the group site & I use those when I make dressing for Thanksgiving instead of bread. i just put them in the oven or when I'm really lazy the toaster to dry them out a bit. When they get overly dry they get really crumbly. I tried a new cawliflower recipe tonight for a sort of mock spanish rice (without the rice) Not as good as the real thing bu good enough - tried to put it in the recipe section but it's over 1000 characters so it wouldn't let me - if anybody's interested let me know & I'll email it to you.
