    need a Lap Band Buddy/Mentor

Hi meg!! My name is Melissa and I'm not in NY but more than happy to email, text, IM. I was banded May 2009 and lost over 150 pounds. I was given the green light in May 2011 to try to get pregnant and I delivered a beautiful daughter in May 2012. I gained 34 pounds while pregnant but also about 30 pounds while trying to get pregnant. It was a very hard mental struggle to watch the scale go up and since I've had my daughter the struggle to lose was a battle in itself. I am an OB nurse in a busy clinic, married to a man who runs a billion dollar oil company who never stops and have a busy bee 14 month old. On aug 23 I just had my port and tubing replaced due to a leak and now back on my journey to lose this 20 pounds I've gained. You can email me at anytime at txnursemelissa@yahoo.com
  2. I was 6 weeks postpartum when I had my first fill.

    Fertile After Being Banded?

I was banded May 2009 after doing many cycles of IVF and failing. In May 2011 after losing over 150 pounds and finally having a healthy BMI and maintaining my weight loss for over a year I got clearance to start TTC. I was pregnant in sept 2011!! I delivered a healthy baby girl May 29, 2012. I gained 34 pounds while pregnant after having a partial unfill at 12 weeks pregnant. I did lose all my weight 9 months after having my daughter I cannot recommend enough you be banded for a minimum of 2 years before TTC. My surgeon explained to me why wait and he was so right and now life is great with an amazing 14 month old and a new port and tubing

    Horrible candy craving!!!

Are you getting enough sleep? I've been banded over 4 years but I just recently learned (after the birth of my daughter 14 months ago) that sleep deprivation causes carb and sugar cravings.

    Big Spring/ midland support

Hi I am an old bandster (may 2009) I'm in Odessa but here to support anyone in the area!!
  6. I had surgery yesterday to replace what we thought was a leaking port but found out my tubing was leaking from being punctured when my port was accessed. It was discovered that my tubing was coiled up on top of my port, a complication from having being pregnant, gaining 34 pounds then losing all my weight again. Just wanted to share so anyone pregnant can be aware this is a possible complication. Hope all is doing great and losing weight!!
  7. I was banded May 2009 and lost over 150 pounds. In sept 2011 I got pregnant and delivered in May 2012. I was 10 pounds away from being back to my goal weight when I noticed I had no restriction. I went to get a fill and for 1 week I felt very slight restriction then all of a sudden it was GONE!! After fluoroscopy we discovered my port was leaking. I had surgery yesterday to replace it but the doc actually found that the tubing had coiled up on top of the port and every time it was accessed my tubing was being poked. It was a complication due from being pregnant, stretched out belly and tubing then losing the weight again. Please be aware of this possibility and watch your restriction after delivering your precious little ones!
  8. Happy 36th Birthday mnjhowell!

    Starting Over

I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and I am starting over again. I was banded may 2009 and had lost 150# I gained some back while pregnant and I currently have to lose 32# to be back at my goal weight. Having no restriction for 9 months was great but now it's time to get serious!

    Slipped Band After Pregnancy

Well my upper GI was normal and my band has not slipped. So we have no clue why I am having these issues. Surgeon wants me to unfill and wait 6 weeks and start over and I am saying no as it costs me $145 each time for fills or unfills!

    After Pregnancy Weight Loss

I am 6 weeks post partum and I am down 36 pounds. I am having some issues and we thought my band had slipped. My upper GI this morning showed it was fine but I do have a hiatal hernia, most likely caused from the pregnancy. I also have a tighter band than I thought according to the upper GI. I guess after no restriction for 9 months what I was feeling and thought were problems is actually restriction! Ok so now to get back on track!! Hope all is well with everyone!

    Everybodies Pregnant But Me

I know how you feel. I waited 2 years after my band to start ttc. Well I now have a 6 week old daughter and a slipped band because of the pregnancy. Yes she was worth it but even waiting and doing everything right didn't stop it from causing problems. But she was born perfect and healthy so that's really all that matters.

    Slipped Band

I was actually over 2 years post op. I started ttc in may 2011 exactly 2 years after my band in may 2009. Sorry I didn't realize that it posted on an old account I never use because I created a new one because I couldn't remember the log in lol!!
  14. So I waited 2 years post op to start trying to conceive as I was instructed. I had a partial unfill while pregnant and it still screwed up my band. I am so worried to get the results of my upper GI. I left my job as a nurse to be a stay at home mom and went on my husbands insurance and he has no bariatric coverage. So if I have to have it fixed I have no clue what it will cost! I am so upset and disappointed!!
  15. I'm having to start over after having a baby 4 weeks ago. I did not gain all my weight back but I am up 35 pounds after having lost 150. It's very frustrating knowing I have to do it again but just keep your chin up it can be done!
