Gas
paula, i'm glad to hear that i am not the only feeling fuzzy. I'm such a worrier. A big worrier. so i get a little dizzy or tingley i start thinking of all these terrible things that could be happening to be. i'm pretty confident now that everything is going okay. so i'm glad we are all just talking about our worries. it helps alot to hear i'm not the only one going thru something.

~*~How about Austin, Texas?~*~
hey moon goddess. It went pretty well. I was really nervous and scared that whole day. I've never had surgery before so i was just worrying and worrying about what might go wrong. Once they put you out its like no time passes and all of a sudden you are being woken up. That was odd. before i knew it i was banded and waking up in recovery. the pain right after waking up wasn't really bad. Its just a matter of getting all of your thoughts together and realizing what you just did. After that the nurses will give you pain meds if you need it and that stuff worked very quickly for me. I'm feeling pretty good today. I woke up this morning and i could tell that some of the swelling had already gone down. I'm just concentrating on drinking water. I've had a few popsicles but other than that just water. I can't believe i thought that the whole thing was going to be so painful and hard for me to handle. Its alot easier than i could of imagined it being.

no Randi i don't know the exact number of lapband procedures that he has done. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, Bexar County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He's only been with the clinic for about a year. But his past experiences are in laproscopic procedures. He is known for being able to perform procedures with little or no invasive incisions. I felt he would provide me with the best experience and an easier healing period.

Hey Randi. Dr Seger is still the new guy there. but he has been a general surgeon for awhile now. I just felt comfortable with him. As far as the dr being in network but the clinic not. That is a hard one to figure out. I had the same experience. Usually the reason is the doctor is not only a lap band surgeon but also a general surgeon. He's in network if you need general surgery but as far as the lapband he is not contracted with the insurance company to do that. The insurance companies really aren't that much help. If you call the clinics they usually know or can find out. The surgeon will also have a tax id number for general surgery and another for the lap band. You can get the lap band tax id number then check with the insurance company.

Kelly B, My doctor didn't ask me to do a pre opt diet. All he ask is for me to lose 5lbs. I tried to go on a liquid diet yesterday. I made it thru the whole day then i gave out and had a weight watchers dinner. I wish you all the best going thru your liquid diet. I know now that it isn't easy. So just stick to it.

Pre-Op Liquids??? HELP
wow stephanie. sounds like you're doing great. i only have about 3 more days till my surgery date. I just now decided to try to stick to some kind of diet. I wonder if three days is really going to make a difference. I decided to eat as little as possible till my surgery. Hope that helps some.

~*~How about Austin, Texas?~*~
hey Randi. When i first went to the seminar they were not in my network. They recently became in network with United Healthcare, that's who i'm with. It took awhile for the whole process. About 2 1/2 months. I chose the doctor i felt most comfortable with. Dr. Seger is the one i chose. He's easy for me to talk to and he's very straight forward with all of his answers. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated about my whole process. I have only Today and 3 more days till my surgery date. I get more and more nervous everyday.

I would like to know what everyone would like to get from this post. I enjoy pictures. I plan to post lots and lots of pictures. I think visuals help us better understand what everyone is going thru. I would also like to hear about the good and the bad. What was the one thing that you would change about your surgery experience? I think this will help the ones having surgery later in the month. So what would everyone else like to see on our GREAT post?

How to check on Doctors in Mexico?
I'm having my surgery Texas but just by reading all the posts you can kind of get an idea of doctors in mexico that are really popular. Alot of people have only had good things to say about the doctors in mexico. If you just ask someone that you see that has had thier surgery in mexico they will give you the doctors website address. I've seen a few people post those.

Pre-Op Liquids??? HELP
ooooh! pre opt diet talk. I've been looking for a thread like this. My doctor didn't suggest a preopt diet. He did ask me to lose 5lbs. So far i'm only down 2lbs. I have to admit thought that i haven't really been trying. Its just really really hard for me. Mr Yo, I've always told myself i'd go on a preopt liquid diet a week before surgery but here i am acting like i don't have surgery on the 5th. I don't know what kind of advice to give. I hope you can do it. I hope i can do it. We just need to discipline ourselves.

I am sneaking food again!
Its hard to admit that you may be hurting yourself. Believe me i understand. But once you come out and say it you can start helping yourself. I found telling my husband has the first step. I told him i need him to help me in a positive way by reminding me what i want to accomplish and what i'm doing is for me. I told him to never tell me anything negative because i over react when i think i'm being attacked. I felt i had to tell him because he was the one i was mostly hiding my eating from. Its hard to hide from someone if they know what's going on. It helped a lot. But you also need support from people on this forum who can relate. There's no way to describe knowing that you aren't the only one. That other people have gone thru the same thing and over came it. I wish you luck and I know you will do what is best for you. After all you did go thru the whole process just to get the lap band.

Twentysomething Bandsters
I've never had surgery before either, Leona. I guess that kind of adds to our nervousness. Wow. I'm glad there are alot of us 20 something that are having this done. I felt kind of unsure having this done because everytime I've read about weight loss surgery I never see alot of younger people. I felt maybe i was jumping into things being so young and all. (even though i feel alot older) I'm also worried about my life socially. I still have some what of a social life. I go out with friends now and then. We always go out to eat or drink most of the time. I don't want to stop hanging out with my friends but i don't know if it will be as fun without all the food and drinks. I guess I'm just babbling now.
