may 2009 banded? let's weigh in!!
I always get excited when I see how someone else is doing that was banded about the same time I was. I was also banded in May, the 28th to be exact. Some times I feel like it is taking way too long to get the weight off and other times I am really excited about how things are going. I have lost 47 pounds to date.I have 6 cc's in my 14 cc band. I will get another fill a week from tomorrow. I think you are doing awesome so far. Lets keep it up girl. This is not always easy but we are sooo worth it. Believe it or not, My starting weight was 258 too. I cant wait to see the onehundreds again. Let me know how you are doing. Hopefulmechelle

9/18/09 Heads Will Roll!
I love reading your blogs. Every time I see your face on one I smile and know it will either be entertaining/ informative or both. You have been a big help to me in my journey so far. Today was the first time I saw your time line and it made me feel really encouraged. Because the weight is not falling off overnight, i am fearful this will not work for me. I was ten pounds heavier than you at 5 3. Not a little girl at all. I am now 212 and my surgery was on May 28th 2009. You must be so proud and you are such a help and an inspiration to so many. When I ask a lap band question on my blog I can almost bed money you will be one to give me a good answer and I really appreciate that. I feel like I already know you. Great work you look amazing in the pics from the game last week.

9/11/09 Where were you?
I was a stay at home mom in a Lebanon Junction Ky. My kids had just been dropped off at school and I remember the phone ringing and my mom and dad on the other end crying, "sissy are you watching it, have you seen it, do you see what those bastards did?" The only time i had ever heard my daddy cry except for when I was in middle school and they thought I had thyroid cancer. I could not leave the TV. My little boy was only 6 at the time and he was up for days, crying at all the people who had died, sad for the kids that were left and even sad for the "unsaved people who had done those awful things now in hell" Our lives will never be the same. We have no tragic story of loved ones relatives there, no ties to any of those killed except that they were Americans and no matter how bad things get, we are blessed to be in the greatest Country in the world. Bin Laden changed us forever but we still stand and we stand united. God bless those who sacraficed, those who died and those left to mourn. God bless the USA.

HELP!!!! I am going to get a REVISION
i am so sorry for all your troubles. It has to be so frustrating. I have an excellent surgeon. He has done thousands of bariatric surgeries (both lap band and bypass) we are not in Indy but he is close enough he would be worth the trip. we are in Charlestown Indiana. He also goes to hospitals in Louisville Ky. He was one of the first to do this surgery in the area and is really awesome. Very intilligent, straight forward and knowlegable. His name is Dr.Shina. Let me know if you would like to give him a call. Yes he does his fills under fluero. Let me know if i can help. God bless and good luck.

Been in boot camp for 3 weeks. Have 3 more weeks to go
Hey great job. I am the same way. I will lose two or three pounds and be so excited and the next day be up the same two or three and maybe even one more. I think especially as women our bodies vary soooo much from day to day with water wieght plus like band groupie says, it changes when you add muscle. The smartest thing to do is to weigh every week or even two. I cant say much, no joke I weigh 4-6 times a day. Yes I have issues. Good luck and keep up the good work. The excercise will pay off, I have lost 19.5 inches.

fills and weigh ins.....
Six weeks for me (actually I think I whined and he got me on on week five). I have a love hate relationship with the scale. I hate that thing yet I wiegh every time I go to the bathroom not kidding. Ihave issues and yes I hate the little $%^$&%$$.

How can you be sure if you have the "sweet spot"
Thanks alot. I hate when I get on here to beg for an answer from more "seasoned" banders and get NO response. That help alot. Thanks bunches and God bless.

How can you be sure if you have the "sweet spot"
Thanks for the feedback. I dont want to get so "filled" that I throw up and cant keep anything down like I hear of so many doing but honestly, I am able to eat just about as much (amount wise) as I could before. I am just determined to do it this time. I was private pay which was another incintive. It seems so wierd that some people are at the sweet spot at 6 cc's and other now till 10 cc's with the same band. Does that mean I am just a hugry cow or what? lol

How can you be sure if you have the "sweet spot"
:confused:I have been banded for three months. I am down 46 pounds (pre-op diet plus after surgery loss) I have said before, I go three to six weeks without losing a pound then in one week I will lose about 7-8 pounds. The thing that bothers me is it seems to happen only when I have a fill. I have 6 cc's in my band. I have lost a few pounds since my last fill but not consistenly each week (which i guess my body is gonna refuse to do anyway) Here is my delima, what do I do the next time I am due for a fill? I dont want to be too tight and make myself sick but here is what I am doing now. Some times I can eat any thing at all and it not seem to bother me, other times (and no it is not only in the am like i have heard people say) I seem to get everything I eat stuck and it is crazy. A fellow lapbander friend of mine said i may have a small piece of food stuck and therefore restricting me at times. So how do I know if i am at the sweet spot and how do i know if I do or do not need a fill? I know the big thing is consistant weight loss and that aint happening. I am taking in protien every day, walking 1-2 miles almost every day and truely sticking to what I am supposed to do 95% of the time. Any feedback out there?

r u getting fatter?
First of all I would like to say that you are absolutely beautiul. No I dont like girls I am happily married but it's nice to hear that isnt it? You really are. I am so jealous of your weight loss. That is absolutely incredible. I was banded on 5-28-09 and am down 44. I would love love love to be where you are so be very proud of yourself. I believe your parents mean well and worry about you however most of us who are severely over weight have control issues any way and honestly the hounding is not helping. It may be good to be open and honest with them and letting them know it only makes things worse. When ever we have control issues, I think the more we are pressured the more you decide you will do exactly what you want, and then unfortunately do just the oppoisite of what you really want only hurting yourself in the long run. You are doing incredible, stay away from the junk at work, It is very hard I know I work with a bunch of skinny chics too, makes me wanna choke them lol. God bless and good luck.

6 cc's and still hungry
:confused:Just a quick overview. I was banded May 28th. I have now lost a total of 42-44 pounds (it varies a pound or two every day) I dont lose a pound for 4-6 weeks at a time (no joke)then in a week will lose 6-8 pounds, then the cycle begins again. I have had two fills. I have a total of 6cc in my band. It was two weeks ago Monday (so now 17 days) that I was last filled. He wont even see me for two more months. So at first I was so tight I thought I would die. Everything solid had a hard time going down. Even the soft pasta type stuff. Now 17 days later, I dont seem to have any restriction or if I do very little. I have to restrain myself from eating because I am really hungry shortly after meals. It's not just head hunger either. I am now fearful I am one of those people who are a bottomless pit and even the band is not going to help me from being hungry and misserable. I would have swore a week ago I had reached that sweet spot. Now I am pretty sure I have not. Is it normal to feel that full after a fill then after a week or two lose that feeling? I thought it was just the opposite, you dont feel it at first but after a few days the fill "kicks in" can I get some encouragement and education here? Thanks!!!!! and God bless you all on your journey.

Scales - Sometimes its fun being a scale whore, sometimes its disgusting!
Hey most of us go thru that. That is what half my blogs are about. Losing nothing for five to six weeks while really behaving and excercising etc. Then out of the blue 7-8 pounds in a week and then the patern re-starts. for the record, i would give darn near anything to be your weight. contrats on how well you must be doing overall. I am still 214. cant wait till ONEDERLAND!!!! God bless

Is there any one out there with a system this crazy?
Before banding, I can honestly say that there were many "diets" that i told myself and others I worked really hard on and could not get why I was not losing the weight. Now that I have done much soul searchng and had a long talk with myself I know for a fact that at many stages of life, i could have done more, could have eaten better, excercised more, tried harder etc. I kid you not my system, body whatever is the craziest thing i have ever seen. I am finally down forty pounds. Thank you Jesus the scale finally moved. Here is the odd thing, I was banded on May 28th and go for six or seven weeks at a time, eating only tablespoons a day of food, walking 2 miles and day and that stupid scale doesnt move, I mean not at all. I KNOW i weigh too much, I KNOW i need to hide it except for once a month but it is so hard for me not to get frustrated. I am not a big fan of the protien shakes, my nurse told me that may be why my weight loss is so unpredictable. She says with out the protein your body freaks out a little and just kinda goes into starvation mode. I hate to say it but when I do start drinking those things, even with the extra calories, i lose. I dont know what else to contribute it too. I have done this twice already, no loss for weeks and weeks then boom several pounds in a few days. Hope this recent two pounds turns into much more. The avg. weight loss is supposed to be 1-2 a week, it makes it very hard to know that when you are doing everything you are told and the scale isnt moving at all. Wish me luck. I cant wait to get to that 50 mark then 9 after that to hit Onederland. (I am 218 now. ) God bless.

To Unfill or NOT to unfill......
My doctor wants me to be on liquids for two full weeks after a fill. Last time I did liquids for a week then the second week added apple sauce, pudding etc. I am starved (on liquids as we speak) but I try to do what he tells me to do. I If you are so "tight" that you can't keep anything down, that is dangerous. My doc said it can land me in the ER. He took one cc out of my band before I even left Monday because he tried three and though I swallowed, you could see the liquid sitting in the pouch. It was not going thru. He took one cc out and you could see a small thin line of liquids moving thru. thats what you want. If you end up really sick from not being able to eat you will be in a mess. God bless and good luck.

How do you get "slippage"?
So I went to the doctor on Monday for a fill (my second one) and while I was there he had new pictures of the things that can go wrong. Yes actual pictures, :eek:SCAREY! He had a picture of an eroded band and of slippage of a band. It made me a little queasy. SO here is my question. How does that happen? How do you get an eroded band and/ or slippage? is it from over eating? Is it from drinking with food? Is it just the luck of the draw and any of us are at risk? I guess I am a little paranoid because I was private pay and there is no way I could now afford to have a problem "fixed" I also hear of people whose band is leaking and they have to re-do that. How the heck do you know when that has happened? Thanks and God bless.:frown:

congrats that is awesome. Can I ask what or how do you get a slippage, as a fairly new bander I cant help to be paranoid especially since I was private pay. would you share your experience?

Got my second fill
Monday I went to the doc to get my second fill. I was so scared the first time that I didnt watch. This time I did. Not the needle part but the screen as they do it under an x-ray type machine. It was really cool. I had 4cc's put in my band the first fill. He said that is the max recomended. Then Monday he put in 3 cc's to show me why it is not recomended to go past 2cc's after your initian fill. I took a drink of that radioactive barium stuff and could see it sitting at the top of my pouch, it just sat there. he told me to take another sip to see if it would push thru, nothing, then a last sip to make sure, nope, nothing went thru. it just sat there. So he took out one cc and the liquid slowly trickled thru my band to the lower portion of my stomach. It was kinda cool. I could actually see restriction. I am on liquids for a week. He said i needed to be careful and totally respect this fill once I start on mushies as i have much more restriction. I am praying i have restriction with real food. I (out of the blue) picked up 5 pounds:eek::mellow:I have been walking 1-2 miles a day, was eating well about 95% of the time and boom here comes the weight. I am hoping it is water weight, you know how us women can be. All i can do is keep excercising and see what happens once I begin real food in a week. I want this weight off yesterday!!!!!!!! I hope every one is well. I am trying not to get discouraged. I am full after a half a can of soup (the kind you heat and drink out of the can) however it doesnt last longer than an hour or so. With this level of restriction with fluids, does this mean I may have restriction (you know the kind that lasts, the sweet spot) when i start eating solid again? Could use some encouragement. God bless and thanks.:cursing:

the pain is horrible
I was banded on may 28th and it was a breeze. Dont get me wrong, I was sore felt like I had done 1000 crunches but compared to my gallbladder and c-cections it was nothing. I did have ALOT of discomfort from the hunger/gas pains. that was rough for a few days. If you are hurting that bad you may need to contact your doctor. The gas should be the worst part of this surgery, if it is not from horrible gas, you may have somethind else going on. good luck and God bless.

7/31/09 SWA Notice
I knew I had a problem. I just didnt know what to call it. I can honestly say I do each one of the above except for the spread sheet. WHY? because I have teen agers and nosey friends and till I am down in Onederland, I wont go there. Yes I weigh not once a day but two to three times, I some times get mad at the pm wieight and strip down to my undies hoping it will at least match my am wieght and think "dang what did i eat/drink today? my daughter has threatened to hide the scales except for a once a week wiegh in. I guess I am official. I am a Scale Whore. I guess it beats what I used to be, My oldest used to tell my husband, "dad mom has been at her brothel again. She is a chic filet whore."
-
Is this normal?
thanks i needed that today. I am tryng not to get frustrated but I am (unfortunately) on the non losing time table again. nothing for three weeks. I am not patient.
