  1. Day 2 is going well so far! I'm feeling my resist muscle growing stronger every day! I'm making ******-***** ***** tonight, and I'm using it as a test. (Yeah, that's been redacted so no one gets a craving.... It's for your own good!). I think the email from the Doc has really reenergized me.
  2. Nicole! Good to hear from you girl! We miss you.
  3. :tongue2: Woohoo Christine! Tina was right, you're having a boy! How exciting! I've done great today! I havn't snacked at all (one goal for today) and I did about 1 hr 15 minutes cardio (other goal for today) and about 10 minutes of weights (legs). My legs are burning! I love it. I feel great. Keep up the good work ladies! And yeah, I won't be able to make it on the 12 or 13. I'll be off getting my pale a little less pale. No real tan for me. I'll be working on my sunburn. lol.
  4. Haha, at the EG meeting last night they were ranting about how if you buy the average ground turkey it's just as bad as buying beef and you HAVE TO buy the ground breast meat. I'm sitting there remembering Candra and Tamra on their fat fast and thinking "Don't we need fat?" Is this just a band vs rny thing? Like RNY can't handle the fat?
  5. Nordstrom, perfect! Thanks for the tip! I bought some fitflops clogs to wear as slippers and they are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I love 'em!
  6. So the "failing the band" example last night was a person who ate sliders and needed a fill and was too ashamed about their gain to go in for a fill. That's not you, Tina! I also didn't ask (but should have) where those "failed" band people everyone was talking about had surgery in Mexico or wherever. Oh, and the "Lose Kaiser, still get fills" thing... if you lose Kaiser how much do you pay for fills, or is that covered, or is it the regular old co-pay. I'd like to school some people if I go back to that meeting.
  7. http://eatingwelllivingthin.wordpress.com/ I stumbled across this tonight. I think I love it. All sorts of WLS appropriate recipes. And there are pictures. And this stuff looks good. Wow, I'm chatty tonight!
  8. I think I'll make an appt to meet with the Doc in January. I'm going to be on vacation and then it's Christmas. I'm also thinking I need to hang around Richmond a bit more so I'm going to try to go in for weight check appts at Richmond every 2 months or so. A little more accountability! Maybe I can do one of those bariatric lifestyle classes too. Someone mentioned that the Richmond support group is only weighing people at one meeting per month. Do you know which one?
  9. Oh, and they clapped for every person. I kind of hate that.
  10. And I did go to the EG meeting tonight. I missed y'all! But our friend Amanda was there again and I met Jaci, who is 4 years out from RNY and she was pretty cool too. I also met Jennifer (I think!) who is pre-pre-op. She just had her info class today in South Sac! She said she was leaning more towards the band. I felt like once she said that, the group attacked her. They talked about every complication, and the hassle of fills, and how many people they know who are failing their bands (not failed by the band, they're the ones failing it). It pissed me off. She had to go early so I stepped out with her to introduce myself and our site! Hopefully she joins us! I don't care much for that EG group. It seems like the young people are cool, but all the older folks are not all that awesome. I didn't feel all that welcome. They start out going around the room and everyone says their name, their surgeon and how much they've lost. Almost everyone else was Fremont. There was 1 other Baggs patient and 2 Fisher patients. 1 pre-op, 1 post-op. The other pre-op had a high goal weight too, but still lower than mine! She said he told her it was because he won't do surgery if you're not on the bmi chart. Well, I'm on the chart and I have a bigger pre-op goal than her! I don't know. I'm glad to have heard from him, I was afraid to check my email!
  11. I just heard from Doc Fisher. Good news! He said he'd be happy to see me in the office again to discuss it, and I should send him a 2 week food log (in 2 weeks when I have a complete one... I know I should have kept up with it) or we could do a phone chat. He also said I'd be much happier post-op if I start at a lower weight because it takes so much more effort to lose as my weight gets lower. He said "Keep up the hard work" but if he examines me and it appears my weight loss has changed my intra abdominal pressure then it might be ok to do surger before the full 85 lbs. Woohoo!
  12. Anyone going to the Elk Grove meeting tonight?
  13. Something else I heard, and I can't remember where... if you're having trouble with snacking then set small goals for yourself. (Sometimes I "dare" myself) Like "I dare you not to eat anything for 10 minutes". Then try for 15, 20 etc...
  14. Just got back from the gym. I worked it today! I was reading around on the different boards here and someone mentioned exercise, and not just ho-hum exercise but really working it and making it count. So I made it count tonight! I did 60 minutes on the elliptical, then 20 minutes on the treadmill (I even ran a few short bursts! Ok, like 2) then another 10 on the "arc glider" thing. Then I did abs and the thigh machines. I'm gonna be sore in the morning! I love it!
  15. Thanks for the sizing info, that really helps!
  16. Jes, that's a great idea! No one can resist the boo-boo lip!
  17. Hello Ladies! It was great seeing everyone today. Somehow group always comes around when I need it! Who all is going to the EG meeting Monday night? Maria, we're coming to get you! I finally emailed Doc Fisher. I explained that I've been attending monthly support group meetings and doing my weight checks but that I've stalled. I asked if he could reevaluate my pre-op goal. (And reminded him that he asked me to lose 84 lbs pre-op). I hope I can hear from him soon.
  18. Oh, and the scale was down a little this morning from yesterday. That is a win in its own right. My foot is finally feeling better after that dang shot! I should be able to go to the gym today. Yay!
  19. Well Maria, that sound like we should do the Elk Grove monday meeting then!
  20. I had a moderate Thanksgiving meal! I said I wouldn't have any stuffing, and I stuck to it! I didn't feel stuffed at all tonight. Go willpower! I guess my friend will needs to stick with me until I meet my friend, band. And then until I meet my other friend, fill. Can't wait until Saturday!
  21. I'm shopping around for a pair of walking shoes. I've heard the MBT are the best, but pricey! I know a few people who have the sketchers Shape Ups and now Reebok has a shoe too. Any opinions would be helpful! I can't find a store that carries them all, so it's probably going to be an online purchase.
  22. Happy Thanksgiving! Riley- Woohoo! That's awesome that the fella fits in with your friends. It's always akward if they don't! I need to email Doc Fisher but I don't quite know what to say. I had another weight check during my foot appt and I was up again. I'm now right at the 50 lbs lost mark. I don't want to gain anymore back! I want it to keep going in the other direction! I'd also love it if he would tell me those extra 35 lbs he wants me to lose is actually just a joke. I've met people who struggled to lose 15 lbs in a year, and I've got 85 to lose! I feel like my body thinks it needs to be at this weight for a while. I don't much care for that. I'm the boss body, hear that?! I'm going to try to make the cauliflower mash for our other thanksgiving tomorrow and I'm making a sugarfree pumpkin pudding too. It uses sugar-free instant pudding that you make with evaporated milk, then you add pumpkin. I'll post the recipe later. I've made pumpkin bread and am currently baking 2 pumpkin pies to contribute to dinner tonight and the bread might go to a neighbor or something. If anyone is looking to buy sketchers shape ups or MBTs or anything, this is probably the week to do it. I'm still shopping for mine. I can't decide which to get! I also got a pair of fitflops slippers (and one for my mom). I love that fitflops makes winter boots and slippers and stuff. They have a pair that look like uggs and they have a snow boot looking pair. I'll probably start a thread to compare the different shoes and see what people think. Hope everyone's having a mindful day!
  23. Hey ladies! Let me just say how annoyed I was that this site was down last night. My cold is much better, only slight residual throat irritation. However, I had an appt with the podiatrist yesterday. I have plantar fasciitis in my left food (diagnosed in May, same day as my Richmond referral). I got the insoles and all that but have still been having pain. I went in yesterday to get the cortisone shot. I was told to take it easy for the rest of the day but I should be good to workout etc today. I'm still hecka sore! I'm wondering if she knicked something when I got the shot. My foot looks a tiny bit swollen to me and it's very tender still. I even had to wear my running shoes to work today! Ugh. Nothing like feeling guilty about not exercising and not being able to exercise! I'm hoping if I ice it tonight I'll be able to do my hour on the elliptical tomorrow. My body feels like I need the exercise, and the energy boost that comes with it. I should be there on Saturday. I can't wait. Oh, and I had an impromptu fashion show last night before bed. I tried on all my dresses and I look good! One dress that I love is probably too big. I'm tempted to see about getting it altered since it's so cute and I only wore it a few times but it might be better to just say goodbye. I hate saying goodbye to my (nice) clothes! But I did fit in my 18/20 little back dress... It looks good! I'll be taking dresses ranging from the 18 to 26/28 to Hawaii. I'm getting excited... I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'll probably be off and on the board all day.
  24. Still too sick to exercise but feeling better. I missed 3 days of work last week. I've never missed 3 days of work because I was sick. Lame. I'm thinking of hopping on the stationary bike today, everything online says it's okay to exercise a little, and I need to do something. I'm tired of this plateau. I want to see that scale drop already! I want my band already! Riley- Congrats on the smokin' dress and the eye lift! That's awesome! Candra- Maybe we can do a sisterhood of the traveling girdle too. lol. Have you tried Turbo Jam? I know Tamra and I both love it. It's a really good workout too.
  25. Who says you have to? Plan ahead and eat before you go. Drink your water or crystal light or decaf tea or whatever. Look at your kid and remember why you're doing this. You don't have to eat something that's not on the plan. Stay strong! You can do it!
