  1. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Have you gone back to work or are you taking some time off? I have a great job but I just started it 3 weeks ago so I'm a little nervous about how much time I will need off. The great thing for me is I work from home on a laptop so technically I could take the laptop upstairs (my office is downstairs) and use it while I lay in bed. So I'm hoping I could have the surgery on a Thursday and take Thurs and Friday off and return to work on Monday (from bed if necessary). After both of my c-sections when I got home (2 days after surgery) I returned to life as normal....moved a little slower but did everything I normally did.

  2. I'm looking for people with Lockheed Martin and Aetna. My husband just switched contracts to Lockheed (aetno ppo 300) and we should get the enrollment papers this week. The problem is I've already inquired with our current insurance and they cover the surgery so I'm anxious to see if Aetna will. They of course won't tell me yet because I dont' have a group number today.

    2 more pounds gone

Good for you. How long have you been banded?
  4. Thanks they finally called me back and said they do cover it but wouldn't give me any details until we have our insurance cards.

    What's on the Inside?

I love your blog! I just stumbled across it and LOL apparently so loud my daughter came around the corner to see what was funny. Thanks for sharing your story!
  6. I'm glad to know that your surgery was a success! I was a little concerned about scar tissue as well I've had two c-sections and my tubes tied in the last three years. I had a problem getting in and out of bed after my c-sestion but after a few days I was completely back to normal so I'm hoping for the same with this. I'm getting a little discouraged as I read all the post of people removing the band and going to the sleeve but I'm going tomorrow to meet with Dr. Baptista so maybe he will fix those fears. Keep me posted on your success. Who ended up doing your surgery? I saw your post about only two incisions. Man that would be nice. I already have 5 holes on my stomach where I had my gallbladder removed when I was pregnant.

  8. Hi,

I technically still have BCBS but we're in the middle of switching to Aetna. What I can tell you that I found out was with my plan the surgery was covered at 90% after a $250 deductible and then I had an out of pocket expense of $1,000. They had requirements that I had to meet before the surgery which were a 6 month (consecutive) physician supervised diet plan, psychological evaluation and meeting with the dietician. If you have any other questions please send me a message. I wish you luck in your journey

  9. just wanted to check on you and see how your surgery went. I'm so excited to hear about it.

  10. Chris, Can you send me the letter for approval?
  11. Thanks so much! I called them about 10 minutes ago and they seem so much more knowledgeable and nice. I still have to go to the seminar next week but if it saves me $1300 it's totally worth it. Good luck on Monday with your surgery and keep me posted on your progress I am so excited for you!

  12. what kind of pre-op diet have you been on?

  13. I've gone to Novus (Memorial Hospital) but haven't checked out any other facilities. Do they all charge $1500 for pre/post care? THis is supposed to include the dietician and psych eval as well as dealing with the insurance. Before I spend that kind of money I want to know what your experience was like.
  14. Wow thanks so much for the information...It sounds like we are alike. I hated Novus I asked them could I pay less than $1500 and just have them file my insurance...he laughed at me. I told my husband it was like trying to buy a car from a used car salesman. My daughter recently had surgery so I know how to battle with insurance if I have to so I felt this money was a waste. My only concern was I liked the realize band and didn't know if I would find a doctor who did it. What band did you choose? I'd love to keep in touch to hear about your experience getting banded. I'm not terribly nervous about the process because I look at my two kids and know I'm doing it for them.

  15. Did you insurance cover the psych eval and dietician? I went to a center that does surgery and they want me to pay $1500 to cover the psych eval, dietician, pre/post op support and filing the insurance. Is this normal?
  16. Thanks for reaching out to me. I didn't like the Novus Center at all...I felt it was very infomercial like. Did you just call your insurance company to see who was covered? How do you like Cwyes and Baptista? I wanted to stay at Memorial if possible because I live close but didn't want to pay $1500. Did you just call Cwyes and Baptista and make an appointment or did you have to go to an orientation? Sorry to bombard you with questions

December 4, 2008 Work holiday party.

I'd love to see what you look like now. How long have you been banded?
  18. Is this change just to BCBS of MI. I have BCBS of OK and they are still saying 6 month supervised diet. Everytime I call to find out what documentation they will need to support this I receive a different answer. I started a supervised diet in December weighed in January missed a Feb weigh in (couldn't get an appointment with my travel schedule) weighed in March and April. I also was pregnant last year and had diabetes while pregnant saw a nutritionist and weekly weigh in and discussions. Do you think this will count?
  19. I've read on a couple of post here that BCBS has changed their policy and doesn't require the 6 month diet just a list of diets you've been on. Does anyone know if this is the case for BCBS of OK. I've completed 4 of the 6 months already. And last year (while pregnant) saw a dietician and weekly weigh in's for gestational diabetes.
  20. If you search for Jacksonville, FL you will find a large group there. Most of them are dated last year but you can see some doctors that you had listed.
  21. it does help thanks! It's not my favorite hospital and the only reason I'm really considering it is because it's within 4 blocks of my house. How was your recovery after the surgery? I've read lots of people say they were up shopping the day after.

  22. BethL

    Any Jacksonville FL folks?!

How was your experience with Dr Cywes? Where does he preform his surgery?
  23. Thanks so much. I'm going tomorrow night for the orientation and am very anxious to get started on the whole process. When did you have your procedure and how much have you lost so far? I've seen such a wide variety of weight loss stories.

I'd love to hear how your experience went. I'm going to Dr. Webb's seminar on Tuesday.

How long did it take from the consultation until you had your surgery? I'm going to Dr. Webb's weekly seminar before I can go to his consultation. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and am anxious to get the surgery going.
