  1. oh my goodness! I was just told to eat light the week before surgery and then on 2 day clear liquids then 2 weeks of liquids (anything you can get thru a straw). I thought that was bad enuf i was so happy to see mushie (im still on mushie for 1 more week). Do what your dr. requires it'll be tough but you can do it, i just looked at it like something i had to do. All dr.'s are different maybe yours puts fluid in your band at operation, mine doesn't.
  2. I think as long as it is very diluted and don't have sugar if that what you need to do to get your fluids than it should be fine.
  3. Well I am on week 3 post op. I thought i had no restriction because of how hungry i was for the first 2 weeks following surgery on liquids only, then i started mushies and seemed to be eating alot . So i decided to do what so many people are recommending on this website track calories on myfitnesspal.com well i started yesterday and it recommends i use 1500 calories yesterday and today i used less than 1000 and am about 15 grams of protein away from getting what i need. Does that sound about right? i am eating about 1-1 1/2 cups of mushie food at a time (which seems like alot) but it is filling me up for several hours. is it possible the first couple of days after switching from liquids to mushies i was so hungry i ate more?
  4. i know exactly how you feel.. I only had 2 weeks of liquids and just learned to get used to the hunger pains it was a normal feeling for me. I got to start mushies last thurs. and its amazing how much better i feel i have energy now!!
  5. how old is your baby? I waited until my baby was 15 months and weaned before getting the surgery. I just thought i would be losing alot of weight would not be consuming the calories needed to produce milk for her. In other words i was worried i wouldn't be able to make enough milk for her so i just waited to get the surgery. I weaned her 1 week before getting the surgery (i had started weaning her 2 months before by just cutting out feedings until i was down to 1 or 2 a day). But if your surgeon and Ped. think all will be fine i would just listen to them.
  6. i had my surgery june 9th also. I'm glad to hear that you are doing great and not hungry, i wish i could say the same. I don't really have any restriction yet so im trying to watch my portions so i continue to lose until i can get my fill in 3 weeks. Does your surgeon leave any fluid in at time of surgery? mine doesn't he wants the first 6 weeks to be just about healing.
  7. yay. So happy for you. I remember when that was me and couldn't wait. It'll go fast and be here before you know it. Now i'm just waiting 3 more weeks til i can get my first fill (right now i don't really have any restriction and any fluid in my band as my dr. don't leave any in at surgery).
  8. i was banded on June 9th and by stomach just started to go down and not be so firm. Just give it time you are not quite a week post op.
  9. Hello, I was banded on june 9th and my results are pretty much the same as yours (i watched your youtube videos)My dr. told me to just eat light the week before surgery and doing that i lost 6lbs, today exactly makes a week since surgery and i have lost an additional 4 lbs. My dr. don't put any liquid in my band until 6 weeks post op, so i hope i still lose. I just wanted to say hello!!
  10. I'm 32 and was banded june 9th. Sorry to hear of your pain I'm sure it will get better soon. I guess i was lucky in that department. I am struggling with not lifting over 20lbs, it's very hard since i have a 15 month old baby girl. i would love to keep in touch with progress and compare notes so to speak.
  11. i am 5 days post op also and same for me. I think it is normal all your consuming is liquid right now. I am just trying to make sure i am drinking plenty of Water.
  12. Some people have a lot of pain after surgery. i hear of alot of pain in the shoulders from gas. i was lucky in that area i've had a little shoulder pain when i take deep breaths but nothing to cry over. I had my surgery June 9th and am feeling good but have no energy and i can't stand the protein shake mix i got. I also had a hernia the dr. fixed that i didn't know i had. Just keep your head up and know that it gets better.
  13. sounds like she is jealous to me.. I know what that feels like my mom (yes my mom) i believe is jealous she has been really obese since i can remember has lost 70 lbs over the last year with now 70 to go just by diet. Which has made her smaller than me which she has no problem throwing in my face. When i told her of my surgery date she said "so your really going through with it"? She dont want me to know but i know she is jealous she is afraid i am going to get thinner then her. it is sad to say but i get that vibe from her with things she has said and how she has acted.
  14. i know what you mean, I am 3 days post op and have no energy. I don't like the protein shakes and can barely choke down 1- 8 oz glass in the morning and that is using milk, and a little bit of peanut butter in it. i would also like any advice or to know if this is normal.... I have 4 kids to keep up with and am finding it very difficult.
  15. 20 lbs thats great! I was banded June 9th and can't wait to start losing. My insurance covered mine also, which i have 4 kids and would not have been able to get it without insurance either. I'm just ready to start living again instead of just getting along. keep us posted on progress and if you want message me sometime. good luck in your journey.
  16. that is great!! I was banded today, and i hope i do that well. I can't wait to start seeing the pounds drop.
  17. I just had my surgery this morning and was expecting to be in alot of pain (gas and shoulder). Well i am not, i feel very good for just having a surger this morning. i was nausous right after waking up for 2 hours after surgery and it hurt my shoulders to take deep breaths for a while, but all in all it wasn't very bad at all most of my discomfort is my stomach where my stitches are. I was just wondering am i gonna get gas pains still yet? i don't know what to expect and was wondering if i should expect to get them.
  18. I just had surgery this morning and my dr. fixed hernia i didn't know i had. No biggie.
  19. i know what you mean being excited and scared, my surgery is on Thurs. morning. I'm getting more and more nervous are it gets closer.
  20. 25 lbs in 1 month that is great!! i'm hoping to do that good. I will be getting my band June 9th and am sooo excited. keep up the good work and keep us updated on your progress.
  21. Hi, sorry to hear about all your troubles . I have been going through depression the last 4 years since i got really overweight. Decided to look into lapband, lucky for me my insurance (through my husbands work) approved with 6 months supervised dr. visits. Lapband has given me hope (am being banded June 9) I know it is going to help me change my life for the better. You should go to a seminar they are free and very informational they discuss everything. I think it is definately worth looking into. Hope you find the answers you are looking for and good luck!!
  22. ya i keep telling myself don't listen to the negative it isn't a major surgery. I just try to drown out all the negative with positive thoughts. everything is going to be fine and try and think how much better i will feel when i start getting some of this excess weight off. feel free to message me if you want we are getting surgery the same month we can keep each other posted on how we are doing
  23. My mom and one of my sisters are very negative they don't like going under anthesthia they are afraid of not waking up, i always thought it was silly. now thats going through my head. But at the same time i am very excited because i am tired of living my life the way i am now (basically not living happy, healthy and being able to do all the things with my family i want to do). glad to hear it's pretty normal.
  24. i'm sure most of what i'm feeling is normal as of today my surgery is a week away JUNE 9th i can't believe it.. I have never in my adult life (when i was 4 had my tonsils taken out) had a surgery and am getting more and more nervous as it gets closer. Anyone ever think of the worst happening? I'm trying not to but it is hard.. Just wanting to see what everyone says on this topic. i want to add i am also very excited also.
