    November fitness challenge

I haven't been exercising as much as before my cruise. My November goal is to exercise daily for at least 45 minutes. So far so good! :-).

    Sleeve versus lapband

Good morning! I had the band placed in 2009 and I did lose about 60lbs with it but after about a year and a half it kept slipping and was causing severe reflux. I had it revised to a sleeve in June of this year and I'm now losing weight, have no reflux and best of all my quality of life has improved. I have relatives who are thinking of WLS and I don't recommend the lap band to them because of how miserable it was.

Sleeved 7/31 and i have only lost 18 pounds

It can be discouraging to lose slower than others. I was becoming frustrated with this as well but after speaking with my surgeon he assured me this was normal for a revision patient. He said because I had a lap band and had "shocked" my body with it my weight loss would be slower but assured me it would continue. I'm happy about losing 30lbs since my revision 3 months ago and I need to remember to include the 70 lbs I had lost with the band. 100 lbs lost isn't too shabby! :-)

    Any Regrets? Band to sleeve?

I had a band to sleeve revision in June2013 and it was the BEST decision ever. My lapband kept slipping and was causing severe reflux. Since converting I've had no reflux and I've had pretty consistent weight loss which I didn't have with the band. The one thing I truly enjoy is that the sleeve feels more natural than the band ever did. Hope this helps. :-)
  6. Hi! I have the same problem. I find if I blend the fruit and ice first, the air bubbles are usually less because I don't have to blend the milk as long. Usually 5-10 seconds works.

    "Family" Style Dining

Today, I fell of the bandwagon. I had a work dinner and we went to a restaurant that serves "family" style food and the waiter encouraged us to share all the food because not all the food comes out at once. This was a big mistake and I will try hard to avoid these situations. Don't get me wrong the food was WONDERFUL!!! The problem is that because the food was shared I ate small amounts of EVERYTHING over a 2 hour period and I ate way more than if I would have ordered my own food. Eating so slowly isn't good for me because I can overeat if I do this. The only thing that makes me feel better is that most of what was ordered was not "carby" but the amount was still too much. Well, anyway I will be aware of these types of situations in the future and give myself a time limit of eating (20 minutes) and will politely excuse myself and go home. I had to get that off my chest. I won't beat myself up anymore about this last meal but focus on planning better for my next one...I can't change the past but I can change my future.

    Thanks to my bro!

Another great day at the gym! I have to admit I didn't want to go today but thankfully my brother encouraged me to do so. He went with me and we worked hard but also enjoyed the time together. I'm glad he is supporting me through this journey. I can't wait for my apt. complex office to open...my turbofire set is here!

    Last Time

When I started this journey I was a TIGHT 22/24 and now I'm a comfortable 18/20. I love shopping at the Avenue...it's funny I didn't like it so much when I was heavier. It's so nice to watch the numbers go down on the scale...I was stuck at 245 for the longest time. I started back at the gym this week and coming here for inspiration/support and when I stepped on the scale yesterday...242! It's such a rush to see a lower number! My mini goal are 10lbs a pop also so I look forward to 235! Congrats on the new smaller clothes!!!! ~melt

    Good day at the gym!

Had a great day today. I just got back from the gym and it felt good to accomplish my mini goal for the day in regards to exercising. I'm a little sore from the exercising I did yesterday but it's worth the aching. I get a lot of motivation from the many stories on this site. Thanks all for sharing your successes. Melt

    New day

I had my LB placed 1 year ago and I've lost 45 lbs. My long term goal is to lose 100 lbs and my short term goal is to lose 40 more by the end of this year. I haven't exercised in months so today I got up, cleaned the house, and went to the gym. I forgot how great it feels after a work out. Don't get me wrong I'm tired but exhilarated at the same time. I'll be honest I'm sure I could be a lot closer to the 100 lb loss but I haven't followed the rules, when I do the pounds just melt away. I'm not going to dwell on that because today is a NEW day. :-) Have a great day!!!!!

  22. Being stuck isn't fun. I've had a couple of episodes. :( I sometimes wait too long to eat and I eat to fast and there's nothing but trouble after that. LOL!
