Chest Pain 3 Days Post Op! Any Advice?
You should NEVER mess around with chest pains. Call your DR NOW to make sure it is all OK. It probably is just gas but what if it isn't?

4 Days Into Pre-Op Diet And Feeling Funky Still
All perfectly normal. It is a huge drop in calories and it takes some getting used to. Make sure you are well hydrated. If you are diabetic then I suggest you call your Dr to double check what you should be doing as you don't want your blood sugar to drop too low.And obviously if it is really bad , even if you are not diabetic, then you should also be calling him.

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
Still trying to get back to an optimal fill after a partial unfill after a horrendous stuck episode earlier this year. I try to make good food choices, my main issue is with getting hungry sooner than I should which is when my old bad snacking habits start creeping in. I think it's an issue for quite a lot of us. There have been a couple of threads where others 3 years or so out have also been struggling. It seems that the restriction definitely does wear off to a certain extent.

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
Alex something that might make an interesting article is how to maintain the loss after a couple of years. For many of us we find that the restriction we once had has to a large degree worn off and we are able to eat more than previously and foods that we could not eat previously. This is something that cannot necessarily be fixed with a fill as the Dr feels that we are correctly filled and further fills bring issues such as reflux. Also the initial motivation has dimmed somewhat as we are no longer in the honeymoon period. To track every mouthful for the rest of our lives is unrealistic - most of us got banded so that we could give up dieting.

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
You are in the red zone - too tight. It is hurting to eat so you are choosing high cal sliders. These do not fill you up so you are hungry again soon afterwards. This also means that you are not losing weight. Also the time taken to eat a meal is too long and another indicator that you are too tight. Most Dr's recommend that you take 20min but not more than 30 to eat. After this your band has already started emptying so it is easy to fit more in and overeat. Quote MultiQuote

New To Forum...dr Thinks Possible Slipped Band...
If it is a small slip the stomach that has pushed itself up through the band can go back into place. Generally most Dr's will expect you to stick to a liquid diet for a period to facilitate this happening.

Pumpkin Soup, Low Fat (Protein Packed)
Veggie Soup of any kind is really easy to make. Normally you boil the desired vegetable with some stock and then blend to a smooth consistency. Most soup recipes have some potato in them but you can leave that out if you want. To add extra Protein throw in a can of lentils, chickpeas, kidney Beans or similar. So you can make any kind of soup you want. Experiment with different herbs and spices. Things like a teaspoon or 2 of curry powder go really well with pumpkin or cauliflower. Or stir in a teaspoon of seeded mustard to your pumpkin soup before you serve it, that really gives it a special taste. Have fun.

Having Trouble Laying Down!!
You are probably eating too close to bed time. You need to leave sufficient time for your food to go down. This sounds like bad reflux.

3 Steps Backwards, Now To Jump Forward!
The bad news is it won't get stuck once you have restriction either. Most junk food doesn't , it slides right past the band especially things like candy bars. ( The donuts would probably get stuck). The band does not work by stopping you eating junk , it works by allowing you to be satisfied on smaller portions of healthy food. You always have to remember that you are in charge of what goes in your mouth.

Just A Reminder.
I drink plenty of water - hot with a teabag and a splash of fat free milk. Other than that it has to be a really hot day for me to drink plain water. What the reminder should be is drink your fluid. So long as the drink as low cal it doesn't have to be plain water. That is a myth that has now been debunked.

Not Enough Calories
If you eat when you are not hungry you will stay/get fat. You need to learn to listen to your body not some site that knows nothing about you.

Pre-Op Diet Blues
You will soon be patting youself on the back thinking " awesome, can't believe I managed to stick to all that, but I did".

Stretched Pouch
My Dr explained that what they used to think was a stretched pouch can often be a problem with the oesophagus. That for some reason it weakens and cannot push the food through the way that it should. It is a complication that seems to occur quite often.

Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
So long as someone is driving you you should be fine. Take a pillow to put between your stomach and the seatbelt for extra comfort. I had about the same distance to home and I had no problems.

No Fill
My band has felt as though it has nothing in it for months now.I know that is not the case but I can't wait to get back to where my fill level was previously as this sucks.

Hair Loss?!? R U Serious!!!!!
Some people notice hair loss after surgery but not everyone does. A lot of people think it is because they are not getting enough Protein, often it is just a reaction to anaesthesia. I think the most important thing is to eat a well balanced diet with foods from all food groups. If you do lose hair don't worry it will grow back. It is perfectly normal for hair to go through growing and resting phases.

Calorie Free/low Cal Liquids
I drink tea. With no sugar and just a dash of skinny milk it is pretty low cal

2Nd Day On Puree- Stomach Burning
You should never force yourself to eat. If you have had enough you have had enough. Not listening to your body and eating when you didn't want it would have been one of the things that made you (and the rest of us) fat in the first place.

Is It My Imagination???

Stuck - Yay That Means I Still Have A Band
I know it is weird to sound excited about being stuck but I am as that means my band is still there. I was beginning to wonder if it had somehow being absorbed into my body never to be seen or heard from again. Long story short after a partial unfill at the beg of the year I have been getting my band slowly refilled. It is awful as it feels as though I have no band at all. I can eat anything, don't need to eat slowly and it is doing nothing for my hunger. Yes when the band is not having an effect the bad eating habits sneak back up on you really quickly. Next app at which I am hoping to get filled to where I previously had restriction is on 15th June and that can't come soon enough. Anyway dinner last night was roast pork and veggies. Ate my veg and then had a slice of pork. Well obviously I must have eaten too quickly or something as I got stuck. Luckily I was able to bring it back up so the discomfort didn't last long but at least i know that the band is still there. I then stupidly had a slice of pork and some pistachios for lunch. Dumb I know. Got stuck again and this time it lasted longer. So now I know I should avoid pork - it can be dry and dense which is the problem. I haven't been able to do pork chops for ages but roast was OK. Now if only my band could start doing something for my hunger levels then I would be happy...........

Hiccups!!
Hiccups are cause by pressure on the vagal nerve. Usually they are a sign that you have had enough but it could also mean that you are eating too fast or taking too big bites. You should not be full after 2 - 3 bites as then you will get hungry again quickly. I think it is a case of after a fill you need to relearn how to eat - make sure you are paying lots of attention to size of bites, chewing and waiting between bites. If this doesn't settle it could mean that this fill was too much and you may need some taken out, but give it time, don't rush back to the Dr.

Teeth Griding
If you are a grinder you can get a special shield to wear on your teeth at night. Tooth grinding is not only bad for the teeth but it can lead to neck and head pain as well.
