Eating After Being Stuck
If you have a bad stuck episode then you should rest your band for a while to let any swelling go down. Stick to liquid for a day or 2. If it is a simple stuck where you feel slight discomfort and you are quickly and easily able to cough the offending item back up then it should be fine to carry on eating, just pay extra attention to what and how you are eating.

6/8 Banded, Day...4?
If you are in pain and have been prescribed pain meds then you should be taking them. No good suffering just in case you end up constipated, if you do then there are things you can take to resolve that. The best thing to do to relieve the gas pain is to keep moving, it is not in your digestive system so gas x etc don't work. It is gas that has been pumped into your abdominal cavity to make it easier for the surgical team to work. They get most out but unfortunately some gets left behind and that can cause pain in odd places eg your shoulder. So take the meds your Dr has prescribed as Dr really does know best.

Questions
IF you have already lost some weight then your body needs a chance to catch up, you cannot expect to lose heaps all the time. There will be peaks and there will be troughs. As to the fill they are really not bad at all. No worse than when they take blood. It's a quick jab and then it's over. You probably put yourself through more pain on a regular basis plucking your eyebrows or getting your legs or bikini line or whatever waxed.

Nervous About Procedure 6/15/12
I can't help myself, I'm terrified of going under even though I have had a number of ops. I think the best thing to do is remind yourself why you are doing this, how much healthier you will be in the long run and how much less risky it is than remaining obese.

Slip
Sorry to hear that. What surgery did they do? Do they know what caused the band to slip? Was it something you ate? How long was the food stuck? Hope you feel better now

Question About How Fast R Slow U Eat
So many things about the band and what they tell us do not make sense. E.G certain foods such as white bread or rice being a problem because they swell and cause discomfort in the stoma. It takes a while for them to swell so if the food really does pass through as quickly as they are now telling us then the swelling should occur when the food is in your main stomach and this should not cause discomfort. I just get really frustrated with the lack of clarity and facts about the how, when and wherefore of the band!

How Long For Champagne To Go Flat?
You do not want to drink flat champagne it tastes horrible. How long have you been banded? Have you tried anything carbonated? I am able to drink champagne so long as I sip it slowly and don't drink whilst I am eating. Try something else carbonated prior to your anniversary e.g soda Water and see how you tolerate it. If it doesn't cause you discomfort then enjoy the champagne the way it is supposed to be enjoyed.

Slip
So you have just had more surgery?

Pose
Sounds like some form of plication. I would want more results before I put myself forward as a guinea pig. Plication is not really reversible as the stomach is likely to form scar tissue where it is folded in on itself. Why do you think this would be a better solution for you than the band?

Surgeon Or Nutritionist??
The dietician is probably best for advice on foods to eat to maximise weight loss but the surgeon probably has more knowledge about foods that could be a problem with the band. I don't have a lot of respect for dieticians. Most of them seem to know no more about food and weight loss than the average person. They certainly don't tell you anything that you couldn't find in a 5 minute search on the internet. The other problem is that there are no exact answers when it comes to weight loss and the theories change all the time. 1 year fat is the enemy, the next it is sugar, then wheat then it is back to good old calorie counting.

Beer
I drink:- white wine white wine with soda champagne lite beer mixed drinks My usual drink is wine but sometimes I have one of the others on my list instead. You have to learn to listen to your body and what you can tolerate. Sometimes the champage has been a problem but if I remember to drink it away from mealtimes and sip it slowly then it is fine. If I am having a beer it is normally a local beer called Cascade light which is not very fizzy and 1 of those goes down fine. I had a vodka cruiser last night and felt awful afterwards. I don't think it was the carbonation as it had hardly any, I think I drank it too fast , on an empty stomach! Once I had some food I felt much better.

Changes Over Time?
Sorry to hear all that. I had a similar experience earlier in the year and am busy in the process of being slowly refilled. This is what a slip is, the stomach moving up past the band, it is very rare that it slips the other way. Often slips like this can be fixed by emptying and resting the band.

Does Soda Erode The Band?
It was 1 study. It states that carbonation was a risk factor it does not say that carbonation caused the slip. It is another 1 of those things that they have not yet proven and some believe it is so, so it is safer to err on the side of caution. There are many unknowns e.g they still haven't yet agreed on exactly how the band works . I do not want to get into an argument so lets both leave it at that. For people that are not sure what to believe the best advice is to go with what your surgeon advises. If you trust him/her enough to operate on you then you should be able to trust the rest of the advice that he gives you. That is what I have done.

Does Soda Erode The Band?
We are going to have to agree to disagree. Although most surgeons don't want you to drink soda for the period following surgery a lot of them will tell you that after that if you can tolerate it without discomfort it is fine in moderation. If you drink excessive amounts then yes it probably could cause some issue but then too much Water can kill you too.

Does Soda Erode The Band?
This doesn't prove a thing.

Does Soda Erode The Band?
I think the soda causing slips is a myth as well. But if that particular myth makes people stick to eating healthier then it can't be bad.

How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?
I'm nowhere near perfect and am becoming even less so. I have never logged my food (except the odd day here and there), I don't measure anything, don't do protein first and I eat snacks.

Wire Coming From Belly Button Port Site
It is definitely as stitch. I had the same thing after my hysterectomy. They are supposed to dissolve but sometimes they don't. i wouldn't worry about it. the best thing to do to make sure it doesn't catch and pull is to use clean scissors and snip it close to the skin. If doing that worries you then just put a bandaid over it until you see your Dr.

Maybe You Can Teach An Old Dog New Tricks
I think a personal chef that could work it all out for me would be great. As you say life is busy enough as it is without having to figure out a calorie counted menu plan for the rest of your life.

Foreign Object
No the materials that the band is made of are inert so your body can't reject it in the same sense that it could a donor organ. However there are some people that have issues with the band and some of them like to think that their body is rejecting it. Why are you so anti a foreign body? Do you have any fillings? Would you ever consider a boob job How about a hip replacement Lots of people have foreign bodies and they do not cause issues for most of them.

10 Days Post-Op And Constantly...
No burping does not man you are hungry. For some reason post band many people just burp (or fart) a lot more. It can happen at any time. Hiccups can be a full sign for some but for others it might just mean they have eaten too fast or taken too big a bite. Everyone is different and you learn to listen to your body and figure out what it is telling you.

Changes Over Time?
This is so true. I am beginning to believe that the kind of weights that we aspire to and want to maintain are not achievable without some kind of intervention. I think that for most people, especially once they reach a certain age , their metabolism combined with general slowing down of exercise means that most are going to get heavier. You, DizzyLizzy and jakealta like this Unlike

What Can You Not Eat?
Steak and pork chops. I used to have problems with corn early on too but now it goes down just fine.

Can We Drink Diet Coke?
You will find as many Dr's that say it is OK as say it isn't. The main thing is to listen to your body. If it hurts don't drink it. If it doesn't cause discomfort then it should be fine. Bearing in mind that you should not drink it in excess and if you do drink it then it is best to sip it slowly. The occasional carbonated drink is not going to hurt, will not stretch your pouch and won't make your band slip. Drinking 2 litres plus per day like many unbanded people do could cause you problems.

Redness
Yes that sounds fine. If it feels really hot to the touch, gets pus, smells etc then you should be concerned .
