Kitty cats! Pets are the best support.
I have 1 cat who is an 18 year old kitten. Completely crazy. I also have 2 dogs, 2 horses and 3 ducks. That is in addition to all the wild ducks , magpies, herons, cockatoos and other native bird life in the garden. Last year we had to say goodbye to 2 of our special pets, 1 dog and 1 cat

Pills stuck
Try sucking crushed ice. It relieves swelling which may help to make the pill pass

Pills stuck
Are you sure the pill is still there. It may be that it has scratched your throat which is causing the discomfort.

shocking the system
In essence it's not that different to the principles behind 5:2 or IF or whatever. It's about mixing things up .

Real Good Pizza Co
I see the nutritional panels in the USA are different to here in Aus. Here they have to state the nut info per serving and per 100gm, I find it makes it a lot easier to assess if the food is worth it or not.

January surgeries?!
You have just had a GA, major abdominal surgery and you are existing on a VLCD. Of course you are going to be tired. Just be gentle with yourself. Don't push too hard. Do what you feel you can not what you feel you should. I'm on day 12 and I'm still completely wiped

Motivation to eat
I’m not hungry either but I know that I have to eat. Getting in the required amount of protein is going to ensure good healing. If I don’t get in my required foods I feel horribly weak and shaky. Do what you have to do. Set that alarm and get that food in

WATER
I was warned prior to surgery by my nutritionist that a lot of people have issues with plain water post surgery. It's not something to worry about, just put a dash of flavour in and that solves the problem.

shocking the system
NEWS FLASH. Not everyone that is fat got that way from eating brownies, there are just as many that got fat from overindulging on steak and burgers and fried chicken etc as well

Everything tastes furry - 9 days post op
I don't think its thrush. My throat feels slightly swollen although its not sore so i'm guessing that could be to do with the breathing tube. My ears also feel like I have cotton wool stuffed in them! It's not dehydration, I am drinking plenty.

Do you get hiccups when your getting full?
No she doesn’t. It’s one of a number of common signs that a person has had enough

WATER
It’s apparently common. Just add a dash of flavour to it and it should make a difference

Need Positive Encouragement
I think those feelings of unease are quite common after major surgery. I had a major drop in BP after my surgery and was convinced it was lights out for me. I was very happy to wake up in ICU a couple of hours later. The next day I was given more blood and couldnt control the feeling of dread whilst that was happening. Move forward a couple of days and I then had breathing issues. It sounded like I was hiding a mouse under my pillow. Again it was hard to control the feeling of fear and dread and doom. All these things are normal after major surgery. The GA and the procedure combined with the VLCD play havoc with your emotions. We tend to second guess what we have done especially as it was an elective surgery. But like most things this will pass. Make sure you are getting in your fluids. Take your vitamins. Take your prescribed meds. And if you have any real concerns call your medical team. Now if only I could shake this pesky light headed feeling.............

I do not wanna do gastric bypass!
Do not base your choices on friends or friends of friends experiences. Make your choice based on indepth research and discussion with your medical team as to what is best for you and why.

How sore can I expect to be post op?
I am 10 days post op. I have had no nausea . The only pain I get is backache which is probably from sleeping differently to usual. I don't have issues drinking, it seems to be fairly easy to get the recommended amounts in per day. We are currently in the middle of a heatwave with temps of around 44C so I am drinking more than would normally be recommended. The things I am struggling with are general tiredness and weakness. I can't seem to shake that but I did end up having 2 GAs in 1 day and getting 4 units of blood so those are probably major contributory factors

Everything tastes furry - 9 days post op
I have been drinking with no issues now all of a sudden today everything I drink tastes dusty or furry or as though I have a hair stuck in my throat. Any ideas what it may be and how to get rid of it?

January surgeries?!
Recovery is definitely tougher than I was expecting but then I did just technically have 3 surgeries in 1. My pain most of the time is zero My nausea is zero But I'm struggling with feeling weak and light headed. I am not in the least bit hungry. I'm eating when I'm supposed to and it doesn't hurt.Sitting out of bed, even for a short while really takes it out of me. Hopefully another week will see a huge improvement.

Energy??
I’m a week out of surgery and still feel like I have been hit by a bus . Zero energy, walking from the kitchen to the bedroom leaves me wiped out. I’m lucky as I don’t have kids at home to look after. and I don’t work. I think it would be a struggle to go back to work for quite a while postop

Drinking too fast?
Yes I am and that makes sense.

Can you drink too much?
I can drink fine and keep wondering if this is a problem!
