January surgeries?!
i asked this question in a FB group the other day. The answers ranged from 3 days to 18 months plus. The majority seemed to have quite a long time before any kind of hunger returned

Jan 2019 bypass buddies
My surgery was the day after you. I’m glad I don’t work because my energy levels are still close to zero. Just walking around a shopping centre wipes me out. Not sure if that is from the anaesthesia, the op, the blood transfusions I received or the middle ear infection I currently have! Other than that recovery has been pretty good. No pain. Just trying to figure out what foods I can eat as mushies. I’m tired of yogurt and custard and other sweet foods. Weetbix and oats don’t sit very well. Tuna or smoked salmon with cottage cheese is pretty good but I seriously need new easy ideas that don’t taste like baby food. I have lost just over 4kg since the surgery. I’m happy with that as I’m a revision and don’t have a heap to lose.

Light headed standing up
There is often a significant difference between lying, sitting, standing. You may need to go for tilt table tests.

Insane Itching
That would not have been fun. Mine is not itching at the wound sites, it’s more allover the stomach . It’s probably caused by all the stretching and bruising and everything else.

- Query asking for advice
Why haven’t you had solids yet? Band is designed to be most effective at controlling hunger when you eat solid foods especially protein. If you can’t eat solids you are too tight and need an unfill.Too tight doesn’t mean better or quicker weight loss it actually slows it down as slider foods are easy too eat too much of, they are unsatisfying and they are often high calorie- You look different?
They are probably being polite, they know you’ve lost weight but they don’t want to sound rude by mentioning it.- Post your daily complaint/gripe.
Come to Aus, we have had temps over 4OC for days on end. Garden is parched, the cracks are so big you could fall in one and never be seen again. Love all the comments about Bellies, they are a total b***h to lose . Even at my skinniest with no bum and shapely legs I still had a belly. I wish I was an hourglass or a pear not an apple! Laughing @GreenTealael with your athlazy wear. Have you seen that spoof video about active wear. My gripe is that I went to my GP this morning and have been diagnosed with a middle ear infection. No wonder I have been feeling so weird and off balance and as though I have a hair or something in my throat. Have been given antibiotics and been told I should START feeling better by MONDAY! WTF today is thursday ?- Burn sensation when having a bowel movement
It sounds as though you may have excess acid so an acid reduced and possibly a change to what you are eating may help- Query asking for advice
Yes. If you have eaten too much or if something is stuck the sensation is generally in the throat , not where the band is. How far post op are you? Are you able to get water in? If not you need to go to ER NOW as after 4 days you will be severely dehydrated and that is dangerous. Have you tried sucking crushed ice. That was always my go to method when something was badly stuck. The ice helps to reduce swelling which may in turn enable the blockage to move.- BMI Goal: is your BMI goal to be healthy or overweight?
I do not see the point of putting oneself through the stress and trauma and expense of a procedure like this to then settle for the mediocre. AIM for the stars. I saw my dietician on Tuesday. She looked at me and basically intimated that my weight is fine. WTF I'm 2 weeks post op I think I have some more to lose. So I asked her what BMI I should be aiming for, she then did a cal that put me right at the top of the healthy range!!!!!! I told her that I would be far more comfortable with a figure a lot lower than that, similar to what i was when i lost the weight when I was first banded. She didn't say a lot but did say that as you get older it is healthier to be at the high end of the recommended BMI - great coming from a 30 something person that is so skinny that if she turns sideways you struggle to see her! Well I'm not there yet and I will be doing my best to try and achieve a BMI of around 22.- Am I the Only One?
You do know that generally you are supposed to wait at least 20 minutes after eating before you drink anything? Eating and drinking together can be a major cause of discomfort with the band. Your loss is good. Remember it's not a race and if it was slow and steady would probably win. Remember the hare and the tortoise? You are going to have to relearn satisfied vs full/stuffed. just because you think you can eat more doesn't necessarily mean you should. Eat the recommended portion. Wait 20 minutes. If you are still really hungry then have a bit more but chances are you will find that if you are eating the recommended portion of the correct foods you will be satisfied.- Insane Itching
Itching is probably a good sign as it means that everything is healing but it's so bad its going to drive me insane. It's not the scars it's the entire stomach. It is like every nerve ending has decided it's going to do some kind of crazy celebratory dance. Typically it is worse at night when I am trying to sleep. Any tips to calm the itching and stop me trying to scratch?- Getting Your Daily Protein In - after 3-4 months Post Surgery
I had my first postop dietician app this week. According to her I am doing well and seem to be achieving what I need to protein wise. I’m not a logger, all that stuff is too hard, I’m just following the plan I was given.- Eating nuts after surgery
How far post op are you? What op did you have?- Post OP question
At this stage you are supposed to be on mushy/puree food. You can eat the deli chicken so long as you blend it to a puree consistency first. What have you been told by your nutritionist?- Jan 2019 bypass buddies
