  1. I am so happy for u!! I still have the gas pains and am hoping when I get up tomorrow morning they will be gone. Other then that and the soreness at the port site I feel fine. Tired, yes but otherwise good!! CONGRATS!! I posted a pic on the day after banding. I will post more as a noticable change occurs!!!
  2. I am day 4 out and still have the gas pains and I just feel drained. I am taking a chewable vit with iron daily and was wondering if I should take two. I go for my post op visit on Monday, June 15 and will ask all the questions then. Also have the pain at the port site but I understand that is the norm and will be sore for a bit. I usually sleep on my left side but that is where the port is. I tried to lie that way and it feels like it is pulling. So now I am trying my right side. I am not a back sleeper and know that in time I can go back to my left side to sleep! Eventhough I am whinning....I have no regrets!!!
  3. I was banded on June 9th. and started my full liquids today. Here are some of my questions. First I am really tired, sleepy tired not physically tired (does that make sense)? I started on a one a day chewable vitamin yesterday. Gas pains worse today then yesterday. Walking as much as possible. But probably not enough. Now this is an embarrasing question. What about having bowl movements? I have not had one since the morning of my surgery. I am in no discomfort but wondered if that was because of the clear liquid diet. I have always been very regular and surely don't want this to become a problem. Thanks a bunch!!
  4. About how long does the gas pains stay?? I am about tired of them now!!! Walked around the yard a couple times so far this morning. Can't stay out too long the mosquitos are bad here in Florida this year!! We have had rain almost daily for a few weeks!! When the sun comes out they go away but then it is to hot to walk!! I know....stop whinning and do what you have to do!!! So back to walking around the house. The funny thing is when I do that my dogs follow me for as long as I am walking!!!
  5. Felt much better yesterday then I do today. Still have the gas pain in my upper back and shoulders but it seems to have moved around to the front also. Is that possible?? How long does it usually take for that gas bubble to go away?? Am using the Gas X strips every now and then. I feel like I have to belch but so far only little ones. I would love to let out with one of those huge, loud ones about now!!!! Still on clear liquid for today. Tomorrow starts the full liquid. I am going to get some soup from Panera's Bread Company and blend it real week for lunch tomorrow!! Cream of Wheat for breakfast. I was told it is a good idea to plan your meals at least for the first couple of weeks and stick to it. So I'll give it a try!! Thanks for your response.
  6. Just banded on Tuesday, June 9th. Surgery time was 4pm and I was home and in my bed before 9pm. Sore from gas and port site. I have to say I felt better yesterday, Wednesday, June 10th. then I do today Thursday, June 11th. Gas pains are now across the shoulder blades but also feel something in the front top of my neck. Could the gas bubble have moved again?? I am a bit hungry today. Had some broth, jello and water but have just about had enough of that!! Tomorrow starts my full liquids! I am half tempted to strat them now!! I was thinking about having one of my EAS protein drinks but am afraid that doing this a day early may cause me a problem!! Any suggestions please feel free to e mail me!! Thanks Dot
  7. I have a really silly question....my stomach is growling but the sound is different then prior to my banding. Is that normal? It has kinda a hollow sound!! I feel just a tad bit hungry. This is my third day post op clear liquids only. But counting my three days pre-op that is 6 days on clear liquid! Never in a million years did I think I could do somethig like that!! Anyway, the 2nd thing is what "exactly" can you have on full liquids?? I know I can have the protein drinks and everyting I had on the clear liquid but can I add sugar free puddings, V-8 juice?? I feel like a real dope not knowing what is considered full liquids. My doctor does not want us to do soups and yogurt at this stage. But what about home made smoothies?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
  8. Quilttina....good l uck on your special day!! See ya on the post-op section!!! Today is day 3 post surgery for me. I had a good day yesterday, took 2 naps!! Very rare for me but my body must have needed it!! Up eary this morning as I usually am and feel pretty good!!
  9. Hi My thinking on this is: When in doubt, call your doctor". Maybe your too full and may have to have some saline taken out. I was just banded yesterday, June 9th. Good luck to you Dot

  11. Hi everyone, Was banded yesterday, Tuesday, June the 9th. I must say I was in some pain yesterday. Mostly from the gas that settled in my lower neck and across my shoulders and the site where the port is, is tender. I am going to try to post a picture of me from this morning. I was going to get a pre-op picture but forgot. So we will start from day 1 post op. Since January 21st., 2009 I have lost 16 pounds!! I know that is not a whole bunch but I am looking at them as 16 pounds that I will not gain back!!!! Thank you all for this GREAT support group!!!
  12. It is 4:44am on Tuesday, June 9th., 2009, my banding day!! Let me say this I want a glass of something COLD to drink!!! Hey, I keep telling myself look how far you have come, don't screw it up now!! And....I WON'T!! Hosptial at 11:30am, banding at 1:30pm and hope to be home and in my bed by 6:30pm!!! I'll post as soon as I can. Thanks and good luck to all!!
  13. it is amazing how there are so many different pre-surgery instructions! I am on a two day liquid diet with no restrictions on how much I can have as long as it is only what is one the list. Chicken broth (which I am sick of right now), sugar free jell-o, Crystal Light, water, tea, coffee and sugar free popcycles. I did really well yesterday but must admit at 5:38pm I am struggling. I will be so glad when surgery is over tomorrow. Then it is back to 3 more days of the same liquid diet. Then on day 3 I add protein and some other stuff. Hang in there and YEA to the wife. She sounds like my husband!!!
  14. OMG!!! Two weeks pre op??? Your my idol!! I had to do the under 30 carb thing for most of the waiting process then one week before surgery as little carbs as possible. Then Sunday and Monday only clear liquids.....I'd kill for some veggies right about now. I will be so glad when tomrrow is over and I am home. Then two more days of the liquid diet, then on day 4 I can do the mushy foods!! I can't wait to chew!!! Ha! Ha! Hang in there!!
  15. Good luck to you on Friday!!! Do you have to do the liquid diet prior to surgery?? This is my 2nd. day and it has been a bit trying! I went into work at 1am this morning to cook breakfast for the night shift at 3am then did it for the day shift at 6:30am. AND I didn't take a bite of one thing!!!!! Yea, for me!! My plan for today is to make myself stay up as late as I can so maybe I will sleep in a little later tomorrow. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight is going to be the hardest part for me. So I figure if I can sleep until 8am, shower, dress and head to the hospital it will be better for me. Have to be at the hospital by 11:30am banding scheduled for 1:30pm!! I'll post again as soon as I am able!! Thanks to all once again!

Being banded on the 9th. of June. My daughter was done almost 3 years ago and she said the hardest part for her was the two days of clear liquids prior to surgery. She said post-op the three days of clear liquids was easier as she was full and really didn't feel like eating. I think it all depends on the individual.I started the two days clear liquids this morning and have just been keeping myself VERY busy. I have had some coffee, sugar free jello and chicken broth so far today. I feel a bit hungry but how much of it is actually hunger??? Who knows!! Do you have a banding date yet??
  17. Today is Sunday, June 7th. and it starts my two days of liquids for my June 9th. banding! Whenever I feel like cheating I get on this web site and read, and read, and read!! Belonging here has helped me more then I can say! THANKS TO ALL!! As far as cheating?? For the last week I just needed to continue with the max of 30 carbs and then these two days of clear liquid. I did have about 11 Frosted Mini Wheats maybe two of the days last week. No milk....I just needed that bit of sweet and crunch! As for today and tomorrow? I am determined to stick to this. I keep telling myself, "You have come to far to screw it up now"! My husband is very supportive and that helps alot. I plan on spending today and tomorrow between my craft room and bedroom where there is NO food!! Good luck to all those waiting for their banding and congrats to those already there!!
  18. Sorry you are having such a hard time. I know everyone is different. I'll keep ya posted!! So the gas is from the surgery...I was thinking the other gas!! How funny is that?? I know many years ago when I had a Tubaligation I had a gas bubble that settled between my shoulder blades. At that time the doc suggested drinking a carbonated drink fast that would cause you to belch and believe it or not that helped. But I don't believe carbonated drinks right after surgery is OK. Thanks for the tip on the Gas X Strips, I would have never thought about that!
  19. Tell me how bad does the gas get!!!?? I have heard that some people get it and some don't. As far as the Gas X strips they are allowed? And do I use them after the surgery? Darn....I sound dumb!!!!!!:blushing:
  20. OK, here comes the hard part!!!:blushing: It is Saturday, June 6th. @ 5:41pm and I have eaten my last chewable meal!! When I get up tomorrow morning it is liquids for Sunday and Monday! I am a bit anxious over this part. Tell me do I need to do the protein shakes prior to the surgery or just the days after?? Anyway, on Monday, June 8th. I need to be at work early as it is CNA week (I work as a Staffing Coordinator in a Nursing Home) and I am making breakfast for the night shift @ 3am and again @ 6am for the day shift. AAAAAHHHHHH!!! Then home by 9:30am and surgery on Tuesday, June 9th. @ 1:30pm!!! I got sugar free jello, crystal light pink lemonade, chicken and beef broth, tons of water and sugar free tropical popcycles!!! I will post as soon as I can after my banding!! Have a great rest of the weekend!!
  21. I went to GNC and bought a pack (1 serving) of Wheybolic Extemem 60 in chocolate to try. I wanted to taste one before I spend 60$$ for a large canister of it. Here is what the label says: Calories: 310 from fat: 20 Total fat: 2g Sodium: 450mg Carbs: 13g Protein: 60g I mixed it up and got it very, very, very cold and it doesn't tase bad! My question is this?? How many protein shakes should we have in the two day post surgery? Is 60 per drink too much?? Thanks a bunch!!
  22. Good Luck!! Darn, on a Saturday!!! I'm the 9th. of June!!! Dot
  23. Had my pre op meeting today with the surgeon. I must say he is a wonderful man. Great sense of humor. Very attentive. And he makes you feel so at ease! The pre op prep is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The rest of this week I need to just continue staying away from the carbs. Then Sunday and Monday I will do the liquid stuff. I'll post again as soon after my banding I can! Thanks for all the great support these last 5 months! OOPS! Forgot to mention banding will be done on Tuesday, June 9!!
  24. WOW!! I wish I were getting done that early!! I am used to being up at 2 or 3am as I go to work very early!! The nothing to drink after midnight is going to be hard for me because I know I will be up no later then 4am. I am thinking about making my self stay up until 2am, getting up at 7am, taking my shower and heading out at 8am. What do you have to do prior to your banding? Any special diet for you? I know I will have to do the liquid thing but don't know for how many days!! I'm gonna sew my mouth shut!! Will post again as soon as I can after banding!! Good luck to you!
  25. Go for my pre-op doctor's visit tomorrow Wednesday, June 3rd. @ 11am. This is when I will be given my final pre-op instructions!! I'm a bit nervous about what I'll have to do to prepare!! I surely don't need to "fall of the wagon" now that I am this close!! Banding date: Tuesday, June 9th. Have to be at the hospital by 11:30am for surgery at 1:30pm!! Must admit now that it is so close I am really nervous!!! Thanks for all the support from this wonderful group. I hope in the very near furture I can give some great help to those awaiting the process!!
