Alex, every cloud does have a silver lining. There is something better for out there. I left nursing for sales and it was the best thing I have ever done. will be banded on TOMORROW
  3. you could eat full liquids now. try some cream of chicken soup. no chunks...... my doctor only makes you haveclear liquids for 3 days. go for it.
  4. tell me how to start a new thread?
  5. I just want to add that I work for 125,000 attorneys for across the US and when I reach my goal weight I will be poster child for this surgery and I will lobby congress, insurance companies and anywho else that will listen. They should pay. If a person has proof that they have really tried in the past, they should pay. IF they have a family history of HBP, heart disease and the other co morbidites that we talk about. They should pay. They pay for preventive medicene ALL DAY LONG. This should not be any different. For pete sake, companies even pay to rehad drug addicts and alcoholics. Therefore they should make the plans available that cover this surgery. Pet insurance? Are your dogs more valuable to your company than you are? Even though providing per insurance is cost free to the company, its the principle. Don't you think?
  6. You guys are so nice......... This is hard. Everything in life that is of value is hard. If it was easy, it would not be necessary. I feel better and more relaxed everytime I read this forum. Even with the negative... that is part of the surgery also. It is so great to know what to expect. Wish me luck 43 hours until banding.
  7. Babyanne, wednesday is my band day. Congrats to you~~
  8. EVERYONE! It is okay! IF we had no problem staying on liquids we would not need the DIET, duh? Hang in there..... They will do your surgery. They scare you because they don't want you buffeting everyday for 2 weeks...... LEave the carbs alone and eat protien if you must eat.... HIGH protien will shrink the liver....... NO CARBS....
  9. I have not done well. I did admit it to the doctor and he said to please try. I have this fear when he cuts me open..... crab legs, steak, and Thai food will jump out and dance around the OR and way in the bottom of my stomach one lowly can of slim fast............It is what it is........ I hope that he will do the surgery anyway......... NOT cheating forthe next 48 hours until surgery!
  10. Congrats! My surgery is in 3 days. Excited and scared.
  11. I don't know this for my self but increase in protein is supposed to unstick you so that you keep losing. Maybe that's worth a try. fat pig.bmp
  12. There are a string for me..... My mother diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March, I was diagnosed with mild HPB in April, when I travel (FLY) walking down the aisle and knowing that people are thinking, " I hope she does not sit by me." I know they think that because I think that about other fat people on the plane. I have lost a lot of my energy...... I just can't go with 100 pounds much after 40.... I will be 40 August 15th. Surgery in 3 days.......... Yahoo....... I have an exciting career as a public speaker and have been offered to do talk shows, radio shows etc.... THIS WEIGHT HOLDS ME BACK!
  13. I love that name instead of pit bull. We have had pit bulls for years and we always tell people that they are staffordshire terriers that way the don't prejudge them. They are great dogs. the brindle is beautiful!!!! Good luck.
  14. The death rate is low....... less than 1%. You have a higher chance of a an automobile tragedy. AS far as your children, it would be a bigger tragedy to die from heart disease at a young age and leave them. Atleast they will know that you are taking the bull by the horns and trying to better yourself. That beats a heart attach and death at 40 from FAt. Right? You will be fine. This is not vanity..... This is to SAVE YOUR LIFE! Good luck. Don't focus on the negative. Most problems are in the 1%, I promise.
  15. Beacheegirl... we should talk. I am being banded on Wednesday. I have been a bad girl. I have had 4 good days or pre op diet and 5 terrible days. I too smoke and my doctor does not care. It is post op that you shoul cut down on the smoking for healing purposes. Also, if you are diabetic... The incisions are small and smoking a few cigarettes won't hurt... Come on... I am a RN. I know the lies. I smoke but would like to quit after surgery. from what I am reading here about 50% of doctors don't even require a pre band diet. That is what made it hard for me. I knew that it probably would be okay to cheat. ie... I am a nurse... but girl, what you do pre op and what happens post op are 2 different things....... You will have help....the band will help you to be accountable. You will eat less, you will lose weight.. I felt like I wrote your thread. I have been having those same concerns. You will go GREAT!!!! I am off to a buffet breakfast... just kidding.
  16. While the healthcare system is not perfect, it certainly beats nothing. when I first started reading this, as a christian, I thought "No way, it would never be right to cheat the insurance company." Then I thought back to my breast reduction 5 years ago. The doctor told ME that I had back pain, shoulder pain, etc..... So he could get my insurance company to approve it. Guess what, I went along with it. So... I did kinda of slide one past the insurance company before. Btw, I has 6 pounds of breast removed........ I really needed it. However, Any person that stays 60,70,80 pounds overweight for years is GOING to have co-morbidites eventually. The insurance companies are CRAZY not to relax the guidelines. I am more concerned about people who eat, eat, eat and have NEVER EVEN ATTEMPTED to lose. I know some of those. Those people should not be able to get insurance to pay. I love the rule about 6-12 months of trying/doctor followed. Why should and insurance company pay when someone has never even tried. I met a lady the other day that says that she really wants the surgery but she does not want to work with a doctor for 6 months and make an attempt. HER INS WOULD COVER IT . So I say stay fat and be miserable. Sorry to chase rabbits.... I don't think that cheating is ever right or ethical. Unfortuntately many times we all do it.... taxes, speeding, etc.... I can't judge those who do. If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones.
  17. Pay the money, have the surgery. Then call and report him.... Just because he is skilled does not mean that he should be able to get away with Fraud. He is just making fat people pay extra so he can drive a better car. Doctors sometimes suck! I am a nurse. believe me. Good luck!
  18. I am supposed to be on one right now my surgery is in 6 days. I am cheating........ i told the doctor today. He was not happy. My BMI is 39. I will keep trying. O well. nurses are the worst patients. I know because I am one. However, I have lost 5 pounds.......
  19. as always wheetsin you are right on! kind but truthful.
  20. wheetsin, you give the best advice..... lap bands are a tool. not magic lap bands. IF no one talks you into the surgery no one could talk you out of the surgery. When I read negative things about pb's, hair loss, slippage, i get a little nervous but my supportive friends say, "don't think about those things, you are committed to this you and will make it work for you." Pre surgery jitters are normal for every surgery but if some one can make a few statements and make you change your surgery date...... it is probably not the right decision for you.... atleast not right now.
  21. I have to say that I have worried about that too. My surgery is 7 days away and I am on a pre op diet. I just realized that food is my best friend. I am not a grazer but I do love rich tasty food and lots of it. I realize that it is a problem and maybe mentally this surgery will help me fix it.
  22. I think one of the most important things a person can do for themselves is fix the inside. I don't know how people who read this post are actively practing "the art of self development". It will never do any good to fix the outside if the inside is all wrong. For instance, how many times has someone won the lottery only to be broke in 5 years? Have you heard those stories? I started reading books on personal and self development 4 years ago. It has changed my life. MY income doubled. MY marriage improved, however, the weight is still an issue. I am looking for a balanced life........ Health, spiritual, family, business. So many people are out of balance. They have a great marriage but a terrible career or they are in great shape physically and have a terrible marriage. I just want balance.... For me this is another step in the process of personal and self development.
  23. Get an attorney to write you a letter................Get him to review your health insurance benefits first. He can find a loop hole if he is a good attorney. It does cost them more to fight than just pay it......... Find out who will handle your case and call them and start a relationship with them.... build repore........
  24. I just want to say that there are people with great bodies and self control that will screw you in 2 seconds flat. Shallow people will always be shallow. It is a good thing for us that man looks on the outside but God looks on your heart. If the shallow people were not talking about the fat people, they would talking about gays, lesbians, christians, republicans. So if you look at it that way...... we overweight people are really saving the rest of the world from hurt feelings........But when we get THIN, they are on thier own.... LOL
  25. Myra, Good for you!!! You are right behind me now. I appreciate the information about the shakes. I have survived for 2 days on the chocolate Adkins shake. 12 days til surgery..............
