I fainted @ work yesterday which was utterly embarrassing....when I go into my kitchen and there is food on the counter or stove I wanna throw up....has anyone experienced this? I don't want to be anorexic so I want to nip this thing in the bud ASAP.....advice please cause I don't know what to do.

Thanks guys....I started the 5 day pouch test yesterday and I really feel better already...not craving carbs or anything so I am hanging in there, not giving in because I went through too much to have this surgery and I am determined to make it work for me. Tiffy, you should really consider writing a book or something....you always have the answers....seriously!!!!

  9. One week y'all.....I am sooooo excited....liquid diet for me all this week until surgery. I am not gonna trip cuase I am one week from doing this and the wait has been much too long....I have a lot of nervous/excited energy which makes it hard for me to eat even if I could or wanted to...I just keep thinking about getting in those single digits...lol!!! How's everyone doing thus far?????

Catyroses: I'm sooooo excited for you....praying that everything goes well for you....my appointment was pretty basic, just about what to expect post-op etc, etc nothing you don't already know.....I have an appointment with my surgeon on Monday afternoon, getting my orders for labs and gotta go pay my 20% the hospital and the doctor and then the waiting begins.....hope the week passes fast!!!! 12. I am sorry as well....I am praying for you, that God would make financial provisions for you and for him to empower you to do what you need to do for yourself and your future....hopefully, it takes less than a year for all these things to fall into place for you...live for yourself!!!!
  13. Well I completed my six month medically- supervised weight loss through the hospital where I'm having my surgery....my coord. Got everything together on last visit for weight loss and faxed it to the ins co the same day....in addition to the six month diet, I had to have: a letter of medical clearace fromy pcp, a psycological evaluation and 5 years worth medical records to prove that I've had a BMI of more than 40 for 5 years consecutively....whew! So glad it's finally over
  14. Guys, I am soooooo excited!!!! Got a tenitive Surgery date for 04/19 pending insurance approval....submitted the paperwork on Thurs. And got word this morning that they approve my sleeve....yay, so happy, there is nothing stopping this from happening....whew!!! It's been an emotional rollercoaster ride, since October 2009....so glad it's almost over.
  15. Thx for updating me....I am praying for her.
  16. Hey Dalisgirl...I just need to get this out.....My sister got the RNY last June and let me tell ya girl, we (the family including myself) gave her the hardest time about it...We were not only ignorant about WLS but we were jealous that she empowered herself to make a significant change in her life; changes that we didn't have the guts at the time to make....She is a strong willed young woman who went through with the surgery after telling us that she changed her mind so we would back off....It brings tears to my eyes to know that my youngest sister was all alone having surgery simply because we made the choice to not support her... It's four girls in our family (all overweight, except for the one who had WLS) and we are all very close and very supportive of one another...we are all look back on our actions with shame...We are all educated people, ironically mostly in social sciences and didn't bother to do the research...saying all that to say that eventually your family will come around and will respect you for following the courage of your covictions. My sister looks fabulous (almost two years out)....she has been my main source of support since I decided to have WLS...I thank her often for paving the way for me...we also have another sister who has begun her journey to WLS...the last one is still riding the diet rollercoaster but doing research on WLS as well... I wanted to share this with you because a revolution usually starts with one couragous person...in my family it was my little sister, in your family its you!!! Be encouraged and know that your family loves you....Right now its all about you and doing what you know you need to do for yourself....I am not one of Dr. Aceves patients, I am having my surgery in Louisiana, but I hear nothing but good things about him on and off this forum...Good luck to you and God Bless.
  17. I am so glad you asked the question lil.ole.me....now I don't feel totally alone in all this...I'm on a two week no carb diet which I've tried numerous times in the past and it is not easy for me but I am motivatied by the fact that this will be the last "diet" that I will suffer though, lol!!! I was told by my nutritionist to finish off my prenatal Vit. and then just take a multivit but I'll ask about the zinc because I do not want to lose my hair...I go on Friday to watch a 2 hour power point and get instructions for the final week from my coordinator and nutritionist and Monday I have a pre op appt. with my surgereon after which the count down begins whooo hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Yep....got my date Monday Apr 19th yay!!!!! I'm nervous and excited and anxious all at the same time.....I started this process on Oct 5th and I am sooooo happy to finally have my date....what kind of pre-op diet are you guys on??? I'm hanging in there with mine but I'll admit, it's a struggle. I'm all for the buddy system
  19. I know for my policy as long as the 6 months of medically supervised weight loss took place within 3 years it's acceptable.
  20. My husbands company just switched to UHC (thank God cause they are one of the few that cover the sleeve) my policy requires 6 months supervised weight loss....the staff of the hospital where I'm having my surgery have UHC and they only have to complete 3 months and some don't have to complete any which I hope is the case for you.....I'm finishing up my 6 months and let me tell you, it's like watching paint dry, seriously!!! Let us know how it works out 4 u....will be praying for favor for you in this process.
  21. You can also pay for everything yourself, get your medical records and file your claim with the insurance company.....they can't stop you from doing that.
  22. If you complete your 6 month program you will probably have to do a psychological evaluation as well....once all that is done you'll be approved. Coordinator told me that of all the INS company's that she works with UHC is the easiest and have the quickest approvals with the least amount of hassles...you shouldn't have any problems.
  23. I have UHC through my husbands job, it used to be UMR and I had to call the INS co many times for clarification...I would suggest you keep calling untill you are satisfied with the information....that's what customer service is there for.
  24. I have a similar situation....I'm in my fifth month of the medically supervised weight program and my coordinator called me last week and informed me that I would have to pay $7,000 out of pocket...my insurace has a max of $25,000 for WLS....the cash price is only 13,000 so I'm trying to understand why are they trying to collect $33,000 from me and my insurance company? We pay over $200.00 per month for health insurance that we barely use and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay extra for this surgery....my out of pocket max is 1750.00 so I just don't understand how the hospital can charge me so much for an out patient laproscopic procedure....I didn't pay this much to have both of my children by c-section with two overnight hospital stays each...it seems like the hospitals are exploiting this whole process for overweight people its just has a ring of unfairness to it...
  25. Hello everyone...I am so excited about getting this procedure done...I am a 35 years old married mother of three beautiful children. I have an appointment with Dr. Moore on March 13th....at that time I will have all requirements met to get approval from my insurance company so I am hoping to have my band done around Easter time....I've been overweight for the last 15 years and its like life just passed me by during this time....I'm just ready to start living again...I want to enjoy the wonderful family God has blessed me with.
