How are cravings after being banded???
Hey all, I was curious to see if anyone still had specific cravings after being banded. I guess for women, when it's around that time of month for them.. are craving still like crazy? Or for people that love sweets and salty foods.. does any of that go away or atleast calm down a bit? I know i will do whatever it takes to lose the weight in a healthy way. i just want to prepare myself for what i am getting myself in to.. thanks!!

Help please, tons of questiosn about what to expect...
Hello, I suggest going to a seminar. At the seminar you can ask a billion questions... and you have the advantage of other people asking question you may not have thought of. I researched this whole forum.. pics, pre-banding, insurance, surgery day stories.. pretty much everything but complaints. i don't need that extra worry. besides, from what i read, it depends on the surgeon, the person, and how well you go by the rules.. i know i am determined and will do great. by experience, the more research i have done the more i was convinced the lap-band was for me. try not to let everyone else's opinion cloud your judgement.. i'm sure you will have people give you negative stories. it didn't stop me. i just learned not to go around telling people. haha. so basically.. my suggestion is to do as much research as possible. you tube has some animated videos of the procedure.. good luck with your decision.

so i had my first consult
I saw Dr Holover (NY bariatric group) yesterday.. He is very nice, very informative and extremely precausious. He explained the procedure..risks and positives. I pretty much knew about all of it.. thanks to this forum.. lol He gave me a list of Dr's to get medical clearance from before a 2nd consult.. where he will go over results and give me a surgery date. i have to see: Cardiologist -- date set for tomorrow Pulomonologist -- Oct 9th Endocrinologist Psychologist Nutritionist and i have to have an endoscopy...(scheduled Oct 13th) it's a lot of clearance.. but I know they do this so they know for sure a person is healthy and reduce risks of complications.. can't wait!

I am in SHOCK! I got my Insurance approval!
WOW that is shocking that it happened so fast. your dr. doesn't recommend a medical clearance first? i know my dr. wants full workup.. if they don't suggest it.. i would say something. good thing you didn't jump in to it so quick. i would be so tempted. i can't wait!!! good luck!

I'm done telling people about lap-band
I am really excited about this new journey i will be facing.. When i tell people about the LAP-BAND® all i get are negative reactions. always about the seriousness of it, or how they knew someone who it didn't work.. and had only compications.. or even someone who died from it... i don't get it. why does everyone have to be so negative? what's the point in trying to convince me not to do it if you don't know the facts.. is it even possible for someone to die from the LAP-BAND®.. i can't see how.

scheduled consultation
went to Dr Garber's seminar last night.. hr seems like an amazing dr. very confident in his work.. he even keeps over 100 pics of people's belly's in his iphone. lol. he specializes in single incision LAP-BAND®. that is a major reason i chose him. I love that he has a whole center just for bariatrics.. it's a little out of the way for me.. but seems to be worth the drive. My consultation is this weds!!! can't wait! my hubby is doing it with me. this is so wonderful.:scared2:

new and in need of advise
Hello, I am very new to this.. I am not banded yet.. and just going to seminar tonight.. so i am not sure if this recipe helps at all. I hope it does.. baked tilapia Tilapia filet season with ..old bay seasoning, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and slice of onion. (you can add garlic too) cook in a aluminum foil (make a pouch & close it) bake at 350 for about 15-20 min. check tilapi with fork. if it flakes easy then it's done.. enjoy! it's one of my fav's

Seminar tonight!
Hey everyone... It is because of this forum that i had the nerve and motivation to call and sign up for a seminar. yey! so thanks to you all!! I'm excited, nervous, anxious, and determined.. all at once. i have seriously tried every diet. just like everyone else. and i am at the point where i have done what i can. I just want to be healthy. i just want to run... and run.. and keep running without feeling like i am going to die. i want to ride my bike and not have to inflate the tires all the time.. and ride for more than 30 min before my butt is aching and my legs are screaming.. LOL. i have the need and want to do more... i know this will be a life changing decision. and i cannot wait. I first called Dr Arif Ahmad (Mather Hospital, NY) because i see him on tv and read a few good stories.. but then on the radio i heard of stopobesityforlife.com. Dr Garber. he makes only 1 incision.. so i decided to go to his seminar tonight with my hubby. I can't wait. so i guess from here.. after the seminar.. i will find out the next step. i already know my insurance covers it.. I wish you all good luck!

Thinking it's time to move on....but don't know how!
Congrats on your weight loss btw.. I don't know you or your hubby... but from what i read. it seems you have had a realization that your not happy. I have been in a similiar situation. I was with my boyfriend for 8 yrs. (since i was 14) I literally woke up one day and said. this is the day. i slowly broke it off with him. he was a very sensitive man.. so it was hard for me being that i am a very compassionate person. I even had the same feelings of maybe he would meet someone.. or tell me he was gay .. anything!! I didn't hate him for anything.. i just realized I live once.. and other than wanting something more.. i felt like i was leading him on. I had to make the decision for the both of us because if i left it to him, we would be together still.. i went through months of sadness because i had a hard time dealing with the fact i hurt someone.. but... it was the best decision i made. i gave him sooooooo long to get over our breakup. i remained friends.. i talked to him when he had a bad day.. i helped him with relationship advise. NOTHING worked. I moved on. he became an alcoholic. and you know what.. i really don't care anymore. it's been 6 yrs since the breakup and i haven't talked to him in maybe 3 / 4 yrs or so. i am happily married with my soul mate.. and we have a beautiful daughter.. I can't advise you do anything but follow your heart. stay strong, think it over twice, and if you really feel you need to move on.. go for it! best of luck.. i'm sure you will make the best decision..

HELLO ALL!! New to the board... considering lap band
Hey everyone. I'm 28 yrs old. 1 four yr old and married. i currently weigh 245 lbs and am only 5'2" tall. I am seriously at the final straw with trying to lose weight on my own. i was able to get down to 198 a year 1/2 ago on weight watchers.. but my appetite is out of control and as i get older my metabolism is slower and cravings are increased. i'm sure you can all relate. i was considering the lap band procedure because i am pretty sure i qualify. i was just concerned with wanting more kids while banded. does anyone have info on this? and i was concerned with the extra skin i always hear about with these procedures. any advise would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!!
