  1. Hey Everyone, I rarely post because I travel alot with my job but I joined this website in March 2009, the exact date that I went to the Lap band Seminar, it was March 5th (my birthday)....at 26 years old I was weighing 400 lbs and I knew I needed a change. My insuracne would NOT cover the surgery and the year prior I got 2 jobs just to save up 17K for the surgery. I had it done on May 20th, 2009 (8 days away from my anniversary) and I am now weighing 249!! I am 151 pounds lighters and I feel great. I truly feel like this has saved my life. I have no kids and I was afraid my weight would pose a problem. I have about 70 more pounds to go, my goal weight is 170 because I am 5''8. I began at a size 28 and now wear a 16-18....can't wait ti get into some 10's!! I am so rpound of everyone and read all of your posts....so proud of OUR success! I submitted my before and after pics and I created and albumn with a couple of me now as well.
  2. Hello Everyone, I am 8 days away from my 1 yr anniversary (I was 400 lbs last year on May 20th and today I am 249!) I have lost 151 pounds to date. Here is one picture I was able to find of before and after
  3. I had lap band one year ago (well days days away...) and I have lost 150 pounds I am so happy!
  4. I have UHC Choice Plus and they do not cover any form of bariatric surgery at all in the state of Florida. I was s sad, but I saved the money all year and will self pay. My consultation is 3/20/09
  5. Hey, I know the feeling...it's not just you. ABout one year ago I was so excited about doing this surgery, I was turned down by my insurance and did not have 17K to self pay. On top of that I had someone who kept discouraging me from continuing the process. I got a second job and paid all my bills off (new years resolution) and every penny I made with the second job I made a saving account which I named "The Lap Band Account" . One year later I have 20K ready to help invest in myself and sacve my life. This past thursday on 3/5/09 my 26th birthday I finally went to the seminar. I left there with such hope and desire to continue on in the process. Last year I met a guy in Novemer and he was schedule for surgery on 12/26/07, I am now his girlfriend & I went to his last weight in and he has lost 274 in 1 year and 2 months, mor ethan almost any lap band patient. He works out 7 days a week and said if you put your mind to it, it can happen. He was weighing 600lbs, the docs made him lose 100 lbs.... he is now at 226 !! He is my inspiration and I have been there through his whole process. He told me to forget what everyne esle thinks and says and keep in mind that they cannot save your life, only you can. Make the right choice...being nervous or scared is part of it....stay true to YOU!! My consulation is 3/20/09, I have my sleep study done, upper Gi done, phych eval..I am ready to go!
  6. Hello, I am a self-pay patient and I have my first consultation on 3/20/09. I am 377lbs and 62.0 BMI...I have been trying to find out if I need to do the 6 month diet, and your post was the only one I found. I am not going via my insurance at all. I have my certificate of recommendatio from my primary care doc, I did the sleep study, I did the psych evla and upper GI with my main doc and have eveything ready to be turned in to the lap band doc on 3/20/09....how long do u think before I can set a date for surgery?
  7. Hello Everyone! For all of you who have been banded this March, how long would you say the recovery time is? I know everyone differs but I am trying to get an idea because my surgery will be in April and I want to make sure I take ample amount of time off...just want to hear from others experiences.
