What is wrong with me?? :(
I have read something about stomach cancer actually, but I think the correlation is because in the past gastrecomies have been done to people with existing stomach conditions like terrible ulcers for medical reasons. I don't think that there is an issue for normal stomach people. And you have to offset the dramatic reduction in breast, bowel, ovarian, liver etc cancers that losing weight will bring. Plus the reduction in heart strain and amiriad of other benefits that being thinner will give. Jane x

Please tell me your BMI and Bougie Size
Hi, I was 40.5 and am now 22.something. My approx bougie size was 40. The bougie is the guide they use to staple round to shape your new stomach. The higher the number the greater the diameter of your tubular stomach in cross section. I was told my stomach should have a capacity between 125 and 150ccs, if that is any help to you all. Jane x

When is it a food addiction, and when is it just overeating?
Hi IamSunny, You just won't be able to, so don't sweat it. The decisions are out of your hands which is so relaxing. Jane x

Problems with death
Hi All, Breezy and Kelly, I am so glad that people like you are in the world. I truly respect what you do, I am not strong enough to deal with these issues. As my grandmother used to say my bladder is too close to my eyeballs. I am really heartened by all your replies and bless you all, Godwise or Athiestwise. I am just setting up a cancer research donate page for our friend based on the one I did for my Dad last month. I hope this is the last one for a good long while. Much love Jane x

Problems with death
Hi Donna, I do sympathise with you. It's something we don't usually see as our modern societies are so sanitised. I don't think anyone should have an opinion about end of life issues until they have had to see the terrible struggle that often occurs. After all we are programmed to stay alive so often the life is literally ripped from us at the end. I am sorry to be so morbid everyone, it's just the recent events brought back so many memories that I had buried and I figured that you all would be the kind of people who would understand. Just had to vent but am OK now. Jane x

Problems with death
Hi all, I don't know if any of this is appropriate but I am struggling with the whole death subject. My Mum died badly from cancer in '89, and my best friend died from cancer in '91 and another friend has has died badly. Basically I cannot see any rational reason to struggle on to the end apart from family/religious pressure. Our friend had requested a one way trip to Switzerland (Dignatas) but his wife said no. She is now having to deal with the reality of his death which was really bad, I cannot do the details but it was as bad as it gets. She feels like shit and did not expect what actually happened. Basically I feel now after a small scare that there is no way I would go through that. I would take the what you would do for a suffering animal option. What do you all think, only based on actual experience of really seeing what happens please? Jane x

Beans anyone?
Hehe would any of your old friends husbands like to sponsor (with no strings attached) a posh-ish talking Brit woman through PS? I am just asking, cos if you don' ask you don't get. We are constantly told our accents are cute and I can do the crystal cut glass accent when required, al la Kristin Scott Thomas in 4 Weddings and a Funeral. Please hold out hope for me that a rich Texan or similar will rescue a sad Brit damsel (bit past sell by date) in distress?? Jane xx

UK Sleevers
Oh yes. It's been a constant problem. Found the best blockage remover is a dose or 2 of 15ml Lactulose and a few Actome probiotic yoghurts or som probiotic capsules. Plus water. Going forwards, massive amounts of cabbage, nice eh?? Jane x

Beans anyone?
When I got to a certain weight, maybe over 200lbs I found I started to get really sick under Water. In fact I once had to do an emergency ascent, from only 13m fortunately, puking all the way up and trying to exhale at the same time. it was really scary. I put in down to abdominal fat not giving the organs enough room to expand with pressure changes on ascent, forcing my dinner up. The fishes liked it though! I am so looking forwards to nosing around on a tropical reef again, I love watching all the little activities going on, and fish cleaning stations are my favourites. Good luck with your surgery in September, and good luck with the fishes in 2011! Jane x

Beans anyone?
Wish I had the cash and the time to do all those things your old friends have but I still have to work. Hey, they may have photoshopped their pics, did you look closely at the shadows, were they pointing the right way etc?? I like the way this site works, its lovely to chat and meet people with similar issues and viewpoints, on the whole. If you want to upset anyone thoygh you just need to criticise their surgeon, like poking a stick into a hornets nest IMHO. All the very best to you Jane x

Quality of life after sleeve
Oregandaisy is 100% correct. You have to play the waiting game. The weight comes off very fast initially and as you get closer to goal it gets slower. I took a year to lose my 1st 100lbs in total. But when it's gone it's gone, no more yoyo dieting thank God. Jane x

Beans anyone?
Hi BJean, ain't that the truth. Can you imagine if our older brains were transplanted into 20 year old bodies. What a party would result!!!! Jane x PS You don't sound uptight to me.
