  1. Hey Everyone. I was banded on 5/19/09 and AM IN LOVE WITH MY BAND..Don't that sound crazy or what.. I am pleased with the results. I have lost 75 pounds so far...
  2. Hi & Welcome! I am about 2 1/2 months post op! I have lost 57 pounds and my husband (had lap band the same day!) has lost about 50 pounds. I WOULD do it all over again. My normal day is yogurt for breakfast, soup or chicken salad or lunch, and for dinner either turkey burgers, turkey meat with whole wheat pasta with some tomoatoes sauce (this is really good) or baked or barbequed chicken breast. I really have not been that hungry. I also eat fruit when I just want something to eat. Exercise has been a struggle for me but I do get some walking and swimming in. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  3. I am about 3 months post op and I eat mexican food about once a week. I eat one chicken taco (no shell) and one order refried beans and some salsa on the side:) It cures my taste buds and fills me up. Plus, it costs $3 total!!! Plus it is good to eat out sometimes!!
  4. Beans, (really any kind, lima beans, black eyed peas (yes, I am from the south!) ect...also refried beans are quite tasty, scrambled eggs,
  5. I did not have any admin fees only the cost of the surgery (my plan pd 70% with a $3000 out of pocket). We had to pay our $3000 up front (some to the dr and some to the hospital). You may want to make sure this is an administrative fee or is it the portion your insurance will not pay. As far as the hiatal hernia, my husband and I both had lap band surgery and both of us had a hiatal hernia..we didn't know that we had it but our doc fixed it. Good luck! We were banded on May 19th and both have lost about 30 pounds and feel great!
  6. I am so glad that you are voicing your LOVE FOR DIET COKE. I am 6 days post op, doing good with the liquid diet but would LOVE A DIET COKE:)
  7. I am 3 days post op. Still am kinda sore but no real pain. Hang in there...everyone recovers a little different. I know at the hospital they strongly suggested that we walk as much as we could. When I say strongly suggested.....they said ok time to get up!! LOL!!
  8. By the time I am reading this....you should be banded!! I had my band surgery on this past Tuesday and am doing great! I was kinda nervous but so far..so good! You are in my prayers today!!

Our surgery was on May 19th! Everything went well. We arrived at the hospital at 6 am, my husband's surgery was scheduled for 7:30 and mine for 8:30 am. Both surgeries went well, both of us also had a hernia fixed that they found during surgery. Dr. Richard had requested that we stay over night due to the fact that we live 2 1/2 hours away. I was worried about the post op pain, we did receive some pain reliever in our IV but neither one of us felt the need to use our morphine pump. We stayed over night and visited each other during the day. We went home around 9 am on Wednesday. We were tired when we got home but am doing great. My husband went back to work today and I am going back tomorrow. I do feel so full but am trying to get down my protien drink. We go back to see Dr. Richard next Wednesday. I was so impressed with Dr. Richard and the hospital. The hospital is Northeast Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. Everything was wonderful!!! It is so exciting that we are finally post op! I have been checking on bypass/banding for so many years and finally we are here!!

:thumbup:Very Exciting to hear that you are your wife are doing this together. My husband I are both being banded on May 19th!! We have almost survived the 2 week liquid diet. It hasn't been as bad as I thought! Good luck and stay strong!!
  12. Congrats! Best of luck to you!!
  13. Focus on the positive! Tell her you are going to get healthy so that you can be active with her. I really hadn't thought about what to tell my sons, because they are 18 & 16. Both my husband and I are having surgery on the same date, May 19th. But the closer it gets the more questions from them. They are very supportive but I never noticed that our family time always involves food and that will be a change for us. Best of Luck!
  14. Great news! I just got approved this week and when I rec'd the call, I was so excited.
  15. I am scheduled for surgery on May 19th and I am starting a mandatory pre op diet on May 19th. Mostly liquid, with protien shakes and some soft foods like cottage cheese, yogurt and low fat Soups. Good luck!
  16. I am anxious about the liquid diet, too! I start the liquid diet on May 4th....can hardly wait!
  17. I have an approval from my insurance and a surgery date! I am so EXCITED!! I started this adventure in January, and jumped thru all the necessary hoops. My husband and I are both having surgery on May 19th in Gainesville, Ga. Now we have to survive the liquid diet...without killing each other...LOL!!!
