  1. there's nothing wrong with doing driveways for a living. It's a hard/honest way to make a living. Just because other people are ignorant and make fun of people, doesn't mean that we have to be the same way. I always say, I'm not responsible for how people treat me or what they say to me, but I am responsible for how i react. reacting by making fun of others is immature and a poor reaction. Sorry. i know we're all entitled to our opinons, but i would hope that we would be the bigger person and not make fun of others -- especially when as "big people" we've been made fun of ourselves. I am sorry you had a bad experience and that your feelings were hurt though.
  2. i haven't updated my ticker, but i made my 60 miles for aug. my goal for sept is 100 miles.
  3. i'm almost done with my august challenge... only a few more miles to go. Next month i'm going to really have to kick up the challenge, but this was a good one to start on. keep up the good work everyone.
  4. thanks for sharing your story... i'm hoping that when i get my next fill on 9/8/09 i'll hit my sweet spot... i'm losing very slowly too. Some days i'm ok with where i'm at and some days i'm very discouraged. thanks for sharing though!
  5. i had another good walking day at red lobster (11.5 miles), but i'm starting to think that walking isn't enough for me. I need to get something a little more strenuous in order to see some weight loss. I'm only down 10lbs since surgery 3/30/09 and that's very frustrating for me.
  6. i have had 3 fills and have 4cc's in my 9 cc band... i still feel no restriction, is it bad that i feel jealous when i see posts like this? I would almost really rather not be able to eat too many solids so that hopefully i can lose weight. I'm watching what i eat, walking mile after mile and although people tell me they can see a difference, my weight isn't going down. i've said it so many times before, but i was prepared to lose slowly, i wasn't prepared not to lose. i'm really disappointed and unmotivated at the moment.
  7. This was a pretty slow week for me.. thankfully i walk alot at my job, but i need to get motivated to start jogging. I walk alot, but i'm not seeing any difference. i need to put more of a challenge in it i guess.
  8. i made the cheeseburger quiche today... i used lean turkey, no bacon, i added green, red and yellow pepers and a packet of ranch dressing seasoning... it was AMAZING!!!!! i didn't have low fat cheddar or mayo, so the calories were a bit higher, but even with full fat cheddar and mayo, i added up all the ingredients nutritional value and instead of having 6 servings i had 8, and it ended up being 354 calories. One serving made me satisfied and i didn't eat anything else with it, so it wasn't too bad for my lunch meal. Next time i will certainly use the low fat cheese and low fat mayo so that i can have a bigger piece.. haha spoken like a true bigmamma! actually, i'd be interested in seeing how many calories i would have saved using the low fat versions. and how it will taste... but it was sooooooooooo good. i will say, the seasoning made all the difference to me. i might load it with more veggies next time too.. broccoli, squash, etc i bet it will be even more amazing!
  9. The things i wished i would have known... 1. The band doesn't work the same for everyone. I have lost about 17 lbs since pre-op diet and my friend has lost 70 lbs in the same amount of time. 2. I was prepared to lose slowly, I was NOT prepared to not lose for weeks on end... it's difficult, but i am still committed. 3. after 3 fills, it is still possible to be hungry after an hour of 30 grams of Protein... good luck on your journey.
  10. I'm starting a bit late, but i'd like to join as well! I did walk 12 miles at work the other day as a waitress, so i guess my month is off to a pretty good start! :-) Thanks..
  11. i didn't watch the show, but i have heard about it on the radio... the thing i find very interesting is that on the radio they keep saying "the average woman in america is a size 12/14. The average size of a woman on a reality show is a size 2." then they make some comment about the overweight people.. if the AVERAGE size is 12/14... then why are the 'normal' people being called out... why can't they make a comment about the abnormally skinny people on the stupid regular shows??? overweight isn't healthy, but neither is 90lbs... let's find a happy medium is all i'm asking for!
  12. it wont' fill your pouch, but if it does... think of it as added protein! haha:thumbup:
  13. i find it very interesting how different drs and offices are different. I was told that i can drink up until i start eating and then to wait 2 hours after a meal to drink again. I usually order water and drink as much as i can before my food gets there and then afterwards watch the clock for my 2 hours to get here to drink again! Which is a bit hard because they also want me to eat something every 2 hours.... its a vicious cycle!!!
  14. I was banded 3/30/09 and yes i'm sure i'm going through banders hell, i'm hoping that my 3rd fill will help me feel restriction. hope you're doing well on your journey
  15. half hour to an hour to wait to drink after a meal would seem like Heaven... my dr wants me to wait at least 1 1/2 hours and they really are pushing 2 hours on me... that is extremely difficult especially when i feel like i'm dying of thirst, but maybe for me, it's becuase i'm not losing right now. I have 2 fills, i'm watching my calories (between 1100-1200/day), i'm walking at least 3 miles 4-5 times a week but i still haven't lost very much. right now i'm frustrated/de-motivated becuase of all this and i'm still not losing... but i have my 3rd fill coming up ina couple of weeks so hopefully that will make a big difference.
