    ugh...a crappy fat moment

there's nothing wrong with doing driveways for a living. It's a hard/honest way to make a living. Just because other people are ignorant and make fun of people, doesn't mean that we have to be the same way. I always say, I'm not responsible for how people treat me or what they say to me, but I am responsible for how i react. reacting by making fun of others is immature and a poor reaction. Sorry. i know we're all entitled to our opinons, but i would hope that we would be the bigger person and not make fun of others -- especially when as "big people" we've been made fun of ourselves. I am sorry you had a bad experience and that your feelings were hurt though.
  4. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i've heard that muscle "weighs" more than fat, but i've also heard a pound is a pound.. who knows. lol

  5. i hope all works out for you for the new job/insurance and for your surgery. My weightloss is EXTREMELY slow......... i've only lost 17 lbs since being banded March 30th.... actually i'm only down 9lbs since surgery... the rest was from the pre-op diet. HOWEVER, having said all that, i am still glad i had the surgery. My back doesn't hurt anymore, my knees don't hurt and my diabetes is much more under control. I hope it works out for you.

  6. hi there... thanks for the friend add.. how are you doing? when were you banded and how is your journey going?

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

i'm almost done with my august challenge... only a few more miles to go. Next month i'm going to really have to kick up the challenge, but this was a good one to start on. keep up the good work everyone.
  10. are you kidding me??? he's upset cuz you've "only" lost 45 lbs in 6 months??? man he'd hate me! i've only lost 10 since surgery!!! but i only have 4cc's in my band. i'm hoping that on sept.8th when i get another fill, it will put me at good restriction. right now i'm a little discouraged.

  11. thanks for sharing your story... i'm hoping that when i get my next fill on 9/8/09 i'll hit my sweet spot... i'm losing very slowly too. Some days i'm ok with where i'm at and some days i'm very discouraged. thanks for sharing though!

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

i had another good walking day at red lobster (11.5 miles), but i'm starting to think that walking isn't enough for me. I need to get something a little more strenuous in order to see some weight loss. I'm only down 10lbs since surgery 3/30/09 and that's very frustrating for me.
  13. i understand completely, but at least you're down between 28 and 32.. i'm struggling with the 10 i've lost since surgery. it's soooo frustrating. but everyone keeps telling me they can see that i'm losing, i just can't see it. oh well, i'm just really hoping that if i stay consistent one of these days i'll really see the difference. who knows.

anything else new and exciting in your world?

  14. hi there.. i'm doing ok. how are you doing? I'm frustrated bcuz i keep staying at the same weight, but i'm still working on it... i am somewhat unmotivated but i know if i don't stay consistent then i won't only not lose weight, but i might even gain... anyway... how are you doing? how much have you lost?

  15. i have had 3 fills and have 4cc's in my 9 cc band... i still feel no restriction, is it bad that i feel jealous when i see posts like this? I would almost really rather not be able to eat too many solids so that hopefully i can lose weight. I'm watching what i eat, walking mile after mile and although people tell me they can see a difference, my weight isn't going down. i've said it so many times before, but i was prepared to lose slowly, i wasn't prepared not to lose. i'm really disappointed and unmotivated at the moment.

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

This was a pretty slow week for me.. thankfully i walk alot at my job, but i need to get motivated to start jogging. I walk alot, but i'm not seeing any difference. i need to put more of a challenge in it i guess.

    Bacon Cheeseburger Quiche

i made the cheeseburger quiche today... i used lean turkey, no bacon, i added green, red and yellow pepers and a packet of ranch dressing seasoning... it was AMAZING!!!!! i didn't have low fat cheddar or mayo, so the calories were a bit higher, but even with full fat cheddar and mayo, i added up all the ingredients nutritional value and instead of having 6 servings i had 8, and it ended up being 354 calories. One serving made me satisfied and i didn't eat anything else with it, so it wasn't too bad for my lunch meal. Next time i will certainly use the low fat cheese and low fat mayo so that i can have a bigger piece.. haha spoken like a true bigmamma! actually, i'd be interested in seeing how many calories i would have saved using the low fat versions. and how it will taste... but it was sooooooooooo good. i will say, the seasoning made all the difference to me. i might load it with more veggies next time too.. broccoli, squash, etc i bet it will be even more amazing!
  18. The things i wished i would have known... 1. The band doesn't work the same for everyone. I have lost about 17 lbs since pre-op diet and my friend has lost 70 lbs in the same amount of time. 2. I was prepared to lose slowly, I was NOT prepared to not lose for weeks on end... it's difficult, but i am still committed. 3. after 3 fills, it is still possible to be hungry after an hour of 30 grams of Protein... good luck on your journey.

"More To Love" on Fox Network

i didn't watch the show, but i have heard about it on the radio... the thing i find very interesting is that on the radio they keep saying "the average woman in america is a size 12/14. The average size of a woman on a reality show is a size 2." then they make some comment about the overweight people.. if the AVERAGE size is 12/14... then why are the 'normal' people being called out... why can't they make a comment about the abnormally skinny people on the stupid regular shows??? overweight isn't healthy, but neither is 90lbs... let's find a happy medium is all i'm asking for!

    Im sad and frustrated

I think part of my biggest frustration is that i am getting tons of Protein (usually around 80 grams of protein or more), I walk miles and miles (about 4.5 miles/5 days a week) and am working hard to keep my calories around 1200/day, and i'm still not seeing pounds gone... i haven't even seen inches off my waist -- just my thighs. I don't understand how i can eat 30 or more grams of protein - good solid protein, not a shake or anything like that at, at a meal and STILL be hungry (stomach grumbling, headache, pangs in my tummy etc) within 2 hours... I thought this thing was supposed to help me stay full longer. and YES i am waiting an hour to hour and half to drink after meals. HOWEVER... i do have good news/bad news... the bad news is my thighs are wider than some people's waists (28), but they're down 3 inches from a month ago!!! :-) Oh well, i go for my 3rd fill tomorrow am, hopefully i'll hit my sweet spot and then i will start losing consistently.

    Im sad and frustrated

i totally understand your frustrations... i started at 213 and am only down 17 or so... i go back and forth between 201 and 195... i'm so frustrated with you two. i hope that eventually once i get to my "sweet" spot i will start losing on a more consistent basis. I was prepared to lose slowly, i wasn't prepared to struggle over the same 5 or 6 lbs. it's hard to stay motivated and on track when i feel like i'm the one doing all the work and this "tool" isn't doing anything. but i'm still working on it.
  23. it wont' fill your pouch, but if it does... think of it as added protein! haha:thumbup:
  24. i find it very interesting how different drs and offices are different. I was told that i can drink up until i start eating and then to wait 2 hours after a meal to drink again. I usually order water and drink as much as i can before my food gets there and then afterwards watch the clock for my 2 hours to get here to drink again! Which is a bit hard because they also want me to eat something every 2 hours.... its a vicious cycle!!!

    Not drinking before/during/after meals...

I was banded 3/30/09 and yes i'm sure i'm going through banders hell, i'm hoping that my 3rd fill will help me feel restriction. hope you're doing well on your journey
