    Not drinking before/during/after meals...

half hour to an hour to wait to drink after a meal would seem like Heaven... my dr wants me to wait at least 1 1/2 hours and they really are pushing 2 hours on me... that is extremely difficult especially when i feel like i'm dying of thirst, but maybe for me, it's becuase i'm not losing right now. I have 2 fills, i'm watching my calories (between 1100-1200/day), i'm walking at least 3 miles 4-5 times a week but i still haven't lost very much. right now i'm frustrated/de-motivated becuase of all this and i'm still not losing... but i have my 3rd fill coming up ina couple of weeks so hopefully that will make a big difference.
  2. Hey girly... your advatar looks like he has to pee!!! Let him go pee please!!!

  3. i have had this same struggle since surgery. I talked to my dentist about this at my last check up and she recommended Breath RX mouthwash -- it's expensive but it is a non-alcohol based mouthwash (which dries out your mouth and promotes bad breath) -- here is info from the website: BreathRx Anti-Bacterial Mouth Rinse is alcohol free and sugar free. It contains Cetylpyridinium Chloride (CPC) and ZYTEX®, our secret weapon in the fight against bad breath. CPC's know anti-bacterial properties kill the bacteria that lead to bad breath odors, then ZYTEX neutralizes their resulting odors. -- it has really helped me.
  4. 25 down... that's amazing! sorry you're feeling sick.. that's never fun. I'm still hovering around the same weight loss, but i tried on a shirt the other day that i bought last year as motivation to lose weight and it was too big! :-) I told my sister that it was way too big in the boobs (she's a size A and I'm a DDD)... she said "welcome to the itty bitty titty committee... i'm still a DD but it was funny to hear!

  5. hi there... thanks for the pic comment! hope you're doing well.

  8. hey there.. just checking in to see how your'e doing....

  9. HI there... We're actually not walking to night, this is the first night that Julie's husband is off for the past 2 weeks or so, and they want to have a quiet night together. After talking to her, i already made plans, so we are planning next tuesday at 4:45 on Senate and St. Clair and walking the canal. I'll be at the support group on thursday... it will be good to see you as well.

I can't wait to hear how your talk with dr clark went. talk to you soon!

  10. ok, i emailed julie and she said -- I think somewhere around St. Clair and Senate would be good, I will be walking there and I will get an early start I can guide you to a good spot. Not sure exactly where you are coming from but off of 70 you would take the Meridian St exit and turn left off of exit to St Claire and left onto St Claire to Senate.. But we can fine tune that. call her if it works for you to come and she can give you better directions to get there. hope to see you!!!

  11. hi there... hope you're doing well. sorry for the short notice, but do you want to walk tuesday night (june 30th) downtown around 4:45? somewhere on the canal, maybe at white river park? let me know if this works for you. :-) you can email me: snereb27@yahoo.com or call me 507-8585

  12. Hi there.. i too work part-time as a server, at Red Lobster -- our plates/trays can get supper heavy. I went back to work after 3 weeks... my restriction was 2 weeks, but i gave myself an extra week to get my strength up. A lot of it will depend on you and how you feel. After 3 weeks, i didnt' have any trouble carrying anything. I could have gone back at 2 weeks and had someone carry my trays for me, but i don't like having to wait on someone else to carry my food. Good luck!!! :-)
  13. Does your weight loss clinic have a counselor on site that you can go to? Ours does and it's free, so i scheduled an appointment for next thursday becuase i'm the same way... i'm not an emotional eater per se, but i'm a justification eater. "it's been a bad day, so it's ok to have fried shrimp instead of grilled talipia" i'm hoping that in talking to the counselor, she'll help me gain some insight on how to re-train my mindset and gain insight as how to utilize this tool to the best of my advantage. i'll keep you posted.
  14. i love your positive attitude! Keep going... keep your head up and focusing on you! you'll do great!

  15. Hi there... good luck on your journey as well. how far into your 6 month wait are you?

  16. i have my second fill next week, hopefully after both our fills, we will see a little more success... we're in this journey together, we'll just have to push each other on! We can do this! :wink2:
  17. i love this post because it's a great way to think...i am learning to retrain myself... thanks for the reminder!
  18. oh, i wasn't nervous at all... i've spoken in front of thousands, so a handful is nothing. i just hated that i feel like a failure since i haven't lost much weight. you definitely should go to a support group, it is good to talk to your peers. :-)

  19. Hi there... it went really well actually, i had a ton of things to say, but then once i got in there, i asked if everyone had already had the surgery and they said yes, so everything i was going to say would have been pointless. So i just shared part of my story and my struggles and everyone opened up and shared. It went really really well. Thanks for asking.

    how are you doing?

  20. i think getting together to walk/talk is a GREAT idea. We all kinda live in different spots... you're down south, julie is downtown and i'm up in lawrence, but i'm sure there is somewhere we can meet to walk. the canal is alwasy nice.

  21. i knew in my head that the weight wouldn't fall off immediately, but i did kinda expect that when you go from eating 2500 or how ever many calories you eat when you're not dieting... to less than 600 a day, i did expect to lose more weight in the pre-op/post-op stage before i started adding solid food to my diet. Some people do, i didn't. i'm still struggling... i was banded march 30, 2009 and only lost 7lbs pre-op and have only lost another 10 or so since then... it's very frustrating for me. I got on the scale last night at support group -- that I was a speaker at, and had actually gained 2lbs... this journey is very hard for me right now. it's hard for me to stay motivated when i'm not seeing any weight loss or in the case of last night, a weight gain. i knew it was going to take a long time to lose the weight, i just wasn't prepared for the reality of the slowness. i hope that soon, i will start losing consistently and i hope that when you have the surgery, you lose in a constant manner.
  22. i'm so glad you came last night. It was great to meet you. i'd love for you, Julie and i to get together outside of once a month support group to support each other... i need more support i know. It's too easy for me to cheat because it's just me. I'm single, no kids, no boyfriend so it's easy for me to allow myself to cheat.

What side of town do you live on? I live in Lawrence off of 50th and Sunnyside. if you want to email, my personal email is: snereb27@yahoo.com

  23. I was wondering if anyone has taken adipex or any other type of weight loss pill after being banded and what have been your results? thanks
  24. i was banded march 30th and have only lost about 10lbs since surgery. I had my first fill last week and still don't feel consistent restriction, but i'm also realizing that i can't do this by myself. I have supportive people but no support...i am not as strict on myself as i need to be, but i'm resolving today to be so. I have to speak next week at the support group here and i want to be a good example, not a bad one. it's such a slow process and although i knew that in my head, getting it to become a reality in my life is difficult and i lose motivation quickly because my nutritionist said i may only lose 1/2 lb a week... that's EXTREMELY frustrating. but we'll see.

  25. actually then, you're way a head of me... when i was on my 2 week pre-op diet.. i only lost 8lbs total.
