This is taking SO LONG!
Hang in there~!~! My surgery date is tomorrow the 23rd. I started my journey in may08. Fortunatly I had the sleep study a few months b4 I even thought of the surgery.(My mom told me that I stopped breathing during the night)Talk about snoring? OMG...I was so loud people say they don't know how I didn't wake myself up...LOL. Because of that my surgeon said that I was a great candidate. I got hung up with the psych part. Was seeing a therapist and thought that would be ok, well I was wrong...so it took an extra few months to get that taken care of. I see it this way.... God knew that I needed to learn a few things about myself b4 the surgery which I have and I am gr8ful that I did. So tomorrow is the big day. I am so excited. Good luck on your journey~!~

time period between first visit and actual surgery
I am quite sure that i am not the norm. my first apt with the surgeon was in may08, went through all of the tests required, i got snagged with the pshyc part. i was seeing a therapist and thought that that would be sufficient, i was wrong....took weeks to find that out and then had to find someone that wasn't going to cost me a fortune to do the pshyc. surgery is tomorrow. so in all it took 9 months. my surgeon has their own nutr. and pschy, had i used them i'm sure it would only have taken 3-4 months as they said it would. i will say i am convinced that god wanted me to wait because there were some things that i needed to see b4 surgery. so i am gr8ful that i had to wait. good luck~!~!

Exercising...but Gaining??
Sorry to say muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. If you have 1 lb of fat and 1 lb of muscle...its still 1 lb.

Who thinks the liver shrinking diet is a made up torture tool
I am on day 4 of liquids, its not that bad. I had to go to family court yesterday and deal with my X, went to wal-mart afterwards. food was staring at me. I have come to the conclusion that if I want this to work I really need to change the way I look at food. I used it for comfort and look where it got me. Whatever the reason for the 7 day liquid diet you can do it. hang in there. feelings aren't facts. this too shall pass.

You may be feeling like that from the anesthesia. I have a friend that every time she has surgery she gets depressed for about 2-3 weeks. hang in there....remember feelings aren't facts it will pass.

Liquid diet time
I have already made some meals for my daughter so I don't have to cook. She can just heat it up. I know it would be torture to have to cook and not be able to eat.

Liquid diet time
This morning I had a protein shake. I finished it by about noon, and am having dinner soon and I am hungry. I want to know what people ate during the liquid diet time. I hear soup, pudding and such. Looking for some variety, so I don't get bored. Thanks for your response:smile:

Liquid diet time
Hi everyone, 2 days till I start the liquid diet. I have been really trying to be aware of the foods I am eating these 2 days before the liquids, and chewing and chewing and chewing. I am wondering what people ate during this time. I know doctors are different, but am looking for suggestions.

Banding in 10days...looking for pre-op experience.
Thanks monkey, it did fell like I was being yelled at by my mother. My Dr. has been extremly thorough I must say. That is why he has the psyc and nutrition as part of his team. They have all been highly trained in this field and they have been a team for many years. The reason I started this thread is to get as much information about pre-op from as many people that are willing to share as posible. You don't really think that I would have put this surgery off to find another surgeon do you? I see that you couldn't have your first scheduled surgery due to the size of your liver. I want no problems or compications, so I will follow the suggestions of people's experience with their pre-op diets and hope for the best. thanks for your words.

Banding in 10days...looking for pre-op experience.
First of all I don't think the surgeon will take a call from a me about diet, they have a nutritionist that you can call, she will not give me the paperwork that the others have because I didn't make an appointment with her. I said at the meeting we had on tue, thats because its all about the money, she said no.....she didn't feel comfortable giving out that info if you haven't seen her. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY~!~ So you see, it really doesn't have anything to do with the surgeon. If you disagree, thats fine, you are entitled

Banding in 10days...looking for pre-op experience.
:frown: Hi everyone....my surgery date is 2/23/09 with Dr. Geiss in NY. I am so happy that my time has come.:cursing: I started my journey back in may 08. This Dr. has a the psych and nutrition associated with his office but they are not covered by the insurance, so that is an out of pocket expense that I just couldn't afford. Cost about $350-$400. This week I had to go to the office with about 10 other people scheduled for the up coming weeks for I guess I will call it a Pre-surgical what to expect class. It was good, but the nutrionist was up last, had been there for over 2 hours late in the afternoon and needed to get home, so I didn't get to ask a lot of questions. What so we eat this week b4? I know they don't want you eating sugar or fat. Any suggestions on this pre-surgical period are gladly welcome. thanks Gr8fulMaria
