  1. My port is directly underneath my right breast. I have had two fills so far from my GP who has never done this before and I didn't feel a thing. I didn't even feel the needle going in. He doesn't feel that such a large needle is necessary and used a much smaller one than recommended....he hit it bang on both times and I didn't feel a thing. Carol
  2. There is nothing wrong with having a few drinks occassionally...however, don't forget that while under the influence of alcohol our better judgement is quite distorted.......for me it means that I do not have the control I need when it comes to making the right choice when eating....watch out for this! Not only could the calories from the alcohol get you, but the bad food choices as well. Carol
  3. I don't do the shakes either. I'd rather chew my Protein than drink it. I have no problem getting in my required amount of protein through solids rather than the shakes and this suits me just find. Also, and this might be a "head" thing....but I find the actual "act" of eating........sitting down to a plate of food....helps me get through the day. Just my opinion. Carol
  4. My goal weight is 125, it is based on 7 years ago when I reached that weight. I was very comfortable with how I looked with or without clothes and how I felt as far as my health and energy was concerned. Carol
  5. LOL....."arse"....I haven't heard that expression since my Mom passed away in 86. I don't think ignoring them is an option that would work....would be very hard to ignore that crap. I'd go straight to the police and let them know that you mean business....would be even better if you could get some support and backing from some of the other neighbours. Carol
  6. I believe that, to a degree, we are all a product of our environment. This child probably hears the adults in his life ridicule obese people and maybe even disabled....I've heard that many times too. When he mimics them they probably don't correct him out of their own ignorance. The only thing that bothers me when I hear a child ridule someone else is that he is not being taught otherwise.....he is merely doing what he knows. However, when it comes to adults it isabsolutely infuriates me and is totally unacceptable....no matter how ignorant they should know better.......whatever they choose to believe they should still show more sensitivity to the feelings of others. Carol
  7. I quit drinking all together, not only because of the calories but because alcohol could distort you better judgement......once under the influence it isn't hard to make bad food choices.....that only adds insult to injury! I have my purse packed with raspberry flavoured crystal light, the single packs. When I'm in a social situation I ask for Water with lime in a red wine glass and then I douse it with the crystal light......I feeling like I'm playing the part but without the extra calories or buzz on. Carol
  8. My Dr. decided not to use the needle recommended by the clinic who did the surgery. Instead he used a regular needle that would be used for a flu shot, as an example. I never had anything to numb the pain and I didn't feel a thing, I didn't even feel the first prick of the needle. He didn't find the centre of the port right away and hit metal a few times and I didn't even feel that. I had 5 cc's and it took me over 1/2 hour to drink 1/4 bottle of Water so he took 1 out. Its been one week and I don't feel like 4 ccs is enough so I'm going back in 2 weeks for more. Carol
  9. Somebody would know...ME...I couldn't live with my conscience....I like to sleep at night. Carol
  10. Christmas is the most important occassion to my family, (I made an earlier post explaining why)....so, of course I want to particpate in this challenge.....I'm going for the big-un!!!!!!!!!!!! My Christmas wish is to be at goal by Dec 25! Need to lose another 48 and I know I can do it....I'm really good at losing, just not so good at staying there but now I have the band........yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carol
  11. Thank you very much everyone for you help, hubby is anxious to rid himself of the beer belly.....he did get rid of the beer! Carol
  12. Well put Leila! Carol
  13. Please Jack, you need to continue. I know enough of what you know and, pleeeeeeeeeeease, this thread and the other colon cleanse thread really needs to be Enlightened....I look forward to your other post. Carol
  14. What underwear.......don't we all wear thongs? Carol
  15. Thanks Leila for the kind comments regarding my post. As far as closing this thread.....Why? You don't thing that this forum's membership is mature enough to duke it out and fight their own battles....and then come to an amicable conclusion? Oh well, whatever! Carol
  16. Sandeee.....the selling factor for me getting the band was being able to finally keep it off. I'm very good at losing it but I've never been able to keep it off. After years of yo-yo dieting the Dr. told me I was compromising my health just as much, if not more than being overweight. And, the older I get, the more tired I get.....this constant dieting is becoming more and more exhausting........so, I wanted it gone for good once and for all. I have more to lose than you, approx 100, almost half way there....but I can tell you, outside of marrying my husband, its the best thing I've ever done! Carol
  17. I refer to the Mayo Clinic a lot for certain health information, this is what they have to say about colon cleansing. I'd keep your money in your bank account. Carol Colon cleansing: Helpful or harmful? I've read many articles on colon cleansing as the root of all ills. I don't believe it. Generally, colon cleansing sounds like a good way to clean toxins from your body. What do you think? Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist Michael Picco, M.D., and colleagues answer select questions from readers. Answer Doctors don't recommend colon cleansing for better health or to prevent disease. The only appropriate use for colon cleansing is in preparation for a medical examination of the colon. Your colon normally eliminates waste material and bacteria and absorbs Water and sodium to maintain your body's Fluid and electrolyte balance. Some colon-cleansing programs disrupt this balance and can be harmful by causing dehydration and salt depletion. To help prevent constipation, eat plenty of Fiber. The Institute of Medicine offers these daily recommendations: 38 grams for men and 25 grams for women 50 and younger 30 grams for men and 21 grams for women 51 and older Also, drink plenty of water, which helps fiber work more effectively

  19. Started at 184. 175 today...still working on it. Carol
  20. Hi Paula....I'm not in any of the pictures, they are all taken at the actual Christmas party where the goodies are given out to the kids. My Sister and I help with the annual Cabbagetown dance which brings in the donations of the gifts. Years ago we use to help with the Kids party though.....you burn out really quick so we kinda rotate. Plus, you probably wouldn't find me in too many pics, I hate the camera. My Grandfather passed away a few years ago....bless him. Now is Son, Tom Crewe Jr is Mr. Claus. Great memories! Carol
  21. As much as we want to think that the band is a "Miracle Fix", it isn't. I regard the band as a necessary tool to aid me in weight loss, but more so in maintenance. I don't think anything or anyone ever inferred that the band would do it all for me and I didn't have to work at it myself. You need to take control of your eating habits. The band will help you control the quantity of food you consume, however....you must assume some responsibility here for what's going in your mouth. You have pretty much let more then 3 months slip by without losing weight....now is the time to help the band help you. NO MORE JUNK FOOD! Talk to a professional or join Weight Watchers to help you with a healthy eating that would otherwise, without the band, help you lose weight....havng the band to assist is a bonus. Make healthier choices, when you are full, you will be full of food that won't hurt you....pretty soon you will see the scale on the decline. Good Luck Carol
  22. Linda...thank you for your comments. I come from a large family,my Mother had 7 sisters and 2 brothers.....and they all had children. There is 32 grandchildren and I am the oldest....I have very fond memories of Christmas with my family. Believe or not....after doing everything he did on Christmas Eve for others...My Grandfather would continue his Santa Clause routine on Christmas Day when all grandchildren would congregate at his house and he would hand out our gifts. We all have a great sense of charity.....I know where it comes from! Carol
  23. Christmas is a big deal in our family. We Celebrate birthdays and other occassions but on a much smaller scale....however, when it comes to Christmas, we do it up BIG. Here is a link that will explain why....the man in the story is my Grandfather....all of this was very much a part of us growing up. Go to the site and click on "The Story of....." www.cabbagetownsanta.ca Thanks, Carol
  24. In a few of the posts I have read it indicates that you are required to eat a lower calorie menu while on meridia and doing this you will lose approx 10 lbs / year. Lowering your calorie consumption alone will promote weight loss......I don't see the need for the pill unless its an appetite suppressant.....I have not heard of a suppressant that works yet....not long term anyhow. I would keep your money in your pocket. Carol
