I finally had my surgery on 3/31/2009. I only spent one night at the hospital. I was out of bed the day of surgery. I'm a week out of surgery still on liquids. Its not as hard as i thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, i do get hungry but at the same time I get full very easily. I am healing very quickly, the gas isn't has bad as everyone told me it was going to me. I do drink herbal tea for the gas and it helps. I also use GasX which helps too. I am almost back to my daily routine. I cannot wait to start working out. So far I have already lost 30lbs.!

So I finally had my Psych evaluation and I had another visit with my surgeon. Now I'm waiting for paperwork to go through so I can get a surgery date. I'm still exercising at least 5 days a week. I have also started drinking portein shakes daily. I'm trying my best to prepare myself. My new routine has actually worked out better than i thought it would. I have more energy during the day and i don't think about food as much as i thougth i did. Since working so hard at the gym, i am making better food choices and I have encorporated more green in my life. I am getting myself ready to undergo the liquid diet. My bestest friend is going to help me with the food shopping (having been banned 16 months ago, and lost 115lbs) she has great advice. So as I wait for my surgery date I continue to make the necessary changes in my life to be successful....

  7. 2009 has been dedicated to changing my life! Never in my life have I been so heavy. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been heavy all my life but at the same time I had a very active childhood. While in high School I was on the basketball, track and field, and step team. I have always managed a way to keep active except for the last 5-6 years. Where did I go wrong? I know I started gaining lots of weight after leaving college. And yes I did gain the freshmen 20lbs (or more than likely 30lbs). In 2006 I had a baby, I gained 80lbs. (Yes!! That much! Baby girl was born 10.6lbs.) At the beginning of 2007 I was 415lbs! As of today I have only managed to lose 40lbs., the last 10lbs were lost this month. Last October I decided to go to informational about bariatric surgery. To my surprise I met lost of people that are in the same situation as me. Leaving the informational gave me a sense of hope. I can lose this weight. I have decided to under go the lap band procedure. With this I would have to completely change my lifestyle. And I am ready! As of January 3rd, I have started a new way of life. I exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes. I am no longer eating fast food, fried food or soda. And to my surprise I could not believe how quick I lost the 10lbs. I have already done all my preoperative tests. My last hurdle is to have a psychological evaluation done which is next week. I am completely committed on having this life change. I am learning how to eat healthly, which in turn I will be teaching my children how to eat health. With this New Year, new President, I hope to find a new me. Wish me luck!
