I forgot something major to me! THE BEER THING
I drink beer occasionally as well. You just have to pay attention to how it makes you feel. If you feel really bloated and gassy you need to slow it down.

Liposuction around port
Interesting. Mine is 4/21. I am hoping my surgeon talks to my PS. He is suppose to.

Frustrated - Husband out of work for 6 months
Hi Girls, thank you all for the feedback and support. I feel really good about it now. He is very hard working and I know he is employable. His skills are unbelieveable just given the job. Wheetsin, thanks for the tip on the airlines. We never really thought about that. Julie

My Journey Begins
Hi Sweety, I'm both nervous and excited. I had my doctor prescribe me some valium to take the edge off the day of surgery. He also gave me an anti naseau medication so I don't get sick from the anasteastia. I'll post some pics soon on my other site.

Unfill for PS - how to avoid gaining weight?
I think I have gained a few in the last week or so. I gave up alcohol 2 days ago so I wouldn't have any extra calories so we'll see if that helps. Its just weird eating almost normal size portions again. My body is in shock!

Frustrated - Husband out of work for 6 months
We don't barely pay bill. We are just dwindling down slowly. My PS is already paid for. I can't say how much I make on this thread but we do survive. I just wanted some input as to how you handle having your spouse at home 24x7 unmotivated. I work in the High Tech field and telecommute full time so we are home all day together as well. Not sure if I will cancel my PS or not. I have to really think about it.

Frustrated - Husband out of work for 6 months
Truthfully, I think he is scared to death. I come from a professional field at a high Tech company so he doesn't really know how to network, do informational interviews, etc. I want to stick by him really badly its just really scarey.

Question on function of band
You are a new bandster correct? If so chances are you dont have any restriction. It is really impossible to stretch out your pouch if that is the case.

Approved, Scheduled, Happy
Nicole, congratulations on getting your surgery scheduled. You will love being banded.

Frustrated - Husband out of work for 6 months
I am just really frustrated today. My husband was laid off due to lack of work in the automotive industry in November 07. He is an automotive Technician with 26 years of experience. We have been barely making it on his unemployment and side work. He is terribly unmotivated saying there are no jobs in his industry, etc. He hasn't looked in the industry for month. I make six figures but our savings has gone down significantly since being laid off. Living in CA it is very expensive to own your own home. He does a little side work here and there but it still isn't enough. I went so far as to hook him up with my old career counselor to work on his resume, job skills, passions, interview skills, etc. It cost $1200 but he worked on her Mercedes so it was a wash. Can someone give me some insight how to nicely motivate their spouse? I am just so frightened right now with his unemployment running out in 6 months. Any advise would be appreciated. Julie

My Journey Begins
Hi Sweety, I have my TT and thigh lift on 4/21 which is really soon. You got a really good price. I live in CA and I think the malpractice insurance is really expensive. My TT and lipo was $11,500 without a breast lift. He quoted me $10k for the lift with implants. Julie

JulieNYC's medial thigh lift, breast augmentation and mons lift
Julie, correct me if I'm wrong but I think you had to have TT revision because you lost like 60 more lbs correct? In my case, the doctor said I will not need one since I plan on losing 20 or so. You should be okay if you want to lose 10-15 more lbs. Julie

Unfill for PS - how to avoid gaining weight?
Ladies, thanks for the response. I guess I am so use to PBs occassionally I think that is when I'm at my sweet spot. What a sick way to think but it works for me! I am doing much better today. I had a nice 6" Subway turkey yesterday which is very low in calories. I did eat some Chinese food yesterday but basically I had 2 meals and only one alcoholic drink which is pretty good for me. I am trying to keep my calories to 1200 a day so we'll see how it goes. Typically I do follow Weight Watchers and do quite well although I must confess I truly do hate counting points! Long story short, I think I am up probably 1 lb or so but back on track today. Thanks for the insight. Julie

First Fill in two weeks!
3-5 lbs is not realistic. It truly is more like 1-2, maybe 3 if you are lucky. You are doing the right thing by eating 1200 calories a day. Your body should start to lose again once it realizes you are back on food. I did gain 7 lbs in between fills one time so that is totally normal, especially when you get to solids. How much at one time can you eat? 1 cup? Your doctor probably will only give you a slight fill. Keep going back until you can only consume a small portion of food, maybe a couple ozs at a time. Also, if you are hungry really fast you will need another fill. Good luck.

Need Help Badly
Vicky, quite simply if you are eating like your old self and are gaining weight you need a fill. Keep going back until you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. You are certain to lose at that rate. Good luck.

Surgery In 5 Days!!
I couldn't believe I actually went through with it. I cried big time the day of my surgery for a variety of reasons ie. how did I get here, how can I be so big, etc. These are natural emotions. You will love your band. Just give it some time. Good luck on the 15th!

Getting approval
If you are self pay it typically goes a lot faster. I think you still have to have the regular blood work, EKG, nutritionst and psych eval though. Mine took about 10-12 weeks with insurance. I would think it would be more like a month without.

slipped band....
You are okay. Typically bands slip when they are too tight and you PB a lot. You can't hold down food. The bloating is very normal given the fact that you ate bread. Bread can be hard to digest. Good luck.
-
I dont know what to do or what is wrong...
lillysmom, what you are experiencing is natural. The first thing you need to do is slow down your eating. If you rush your eating you are more likely to PB because you can't feel the full sensation. I would start with that first before anything else. Keep your eye on the prize. The banded life is great but you have to give it time and effort. Good luck.

total failure, can I start over?
Mermaidpuppy, there is hope for you woman. The first thing I would do is go get yourself a good fill. 4.5 is not a lot in a 10cc band. The second thing I would do is to give up your Soda. Try and drink water or crystal light. The third thing I would do is try and give up sugar. Try a natural sugar like yogurt or fruit. Don't do all these things are once as it may make you feel ill. Giving up sugar can be very difficult so go at it slowly. You may also want to do some sugar free puddings and ice cream to help you. Don't be hard on yourself. We have all had some things happen to us during this journey. Restriction is key so keep going for fills until you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. Good luck. PS. I drink with meals too so that one is hard for me.

29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day
What a great pic. Thanksk for the share!

PlaSTIC
Not sure if I need that or not. I asked him the other day what exactly he thought I needed in addition to the tummy tuck and he said some lipo on my chin. Now this gets me wondering.

Unsupportive - no downright hostile PCP
Girlfriend, obesity is a disease. Get with a good PCP and get the band.

Annoyed!!!
Shannon, keep your eye on the prize. It is so worth it.
