  1. 60 grams but I have also read that you will not kill yourself if you stay in the 40-45 gram range. You may lose some hair though. I have a tough time getting all my protein in.
  2. I don't have a specific diet. I eat what I want and stop when I'm full. I do lean towards yogurts, cottage cheese and foods like that. I do like meat but chicken doesn't seem to set as well with me. Anyway, congrats on being banded. I love my band.
  3. Sherilynn, congrats on being able to join your support group with the doctor. It just amazed me about that gentleman that asked so stupid questions. He obviously isn't ready like you. You will love your band. I love mine too. Good luck to you.
  4. Current weight 241.5 with 3.5 lbs to goal.
  5. Courtney, best of luck to you.
  6. Hi everyone, its been a while since I posted to this thread. I had my 5th fill to 3ccs in my 10cc band (which holds 4.2cc). I finally am at my sweet spot. I am never hungry, I swear. Anyway, I am 1/2 way to goal as of this a.m. I am down 41 lbs since being banded in June. I lost 40 lbs preop so that make 81 lbs total. I feel like a new person. I just need to start exercising so I don't end up a flabby mess. Thanks for listening.
  7. I'm obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself every day. That way I know what I am eating is affecting me from the day before. So it helps me to know what not to eat.
  8. It sounds like you are doing the right things. A hot cup of tea is exactly what your doctor will tell you. If that doesn't work you may want a slight unfill. I wouldn't go tighter. That way you could eat more consistently throughout the day and not be as hungry at night. That is what I would do. Best of luck.
  9. Susan, it sounds like you might need another fill. I read on another post that her first fill in a 10cc band was 4ccs and she now has restriction. Some doctors gradually fill others are more agressive. Good luck.
  10. I never feel my band. I do feel it working though. I don't have food cravings like I use to. I love my band. I'm so happy with it. Good luck.
  11. Bret, what you are experiencing is restriction. That is normal. If you have difficulty eating just make sure you really cut down your portions down and chew really well. You will know if u are filled too much believe me. Best of luck.
  12. Cheryl, welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on making this life changing decision. I've been banded since June and I've lost 41 lbs so far. You will do great.
  13. Liz, I wish you nothing but the best. You are doing great. Congrats on making this life changing decision.
  14. Hi Lisas, welcome to lapband talk forum. You will love it here. Best of luck to you with your surgery.
  15. My doctor sat me down and talked all about the difference between banding and bipasss. He showed me the band and we talked about obesity as a non curable disease. It can only be monitored through diet and exercise. We talked all about my dieting history, how I had tried everything. It was a great meeting. I didn't go to the support group before being banded. I just wanted it. Anyway, it took me about 8 weeks before I was banded after I put the wheels in motion. Hope your surgery is quick. It gets really exciting and once you make up your mind and you want it it is good if it is sooner than later. Best of luck.
  16. Here is my reality: The surgery itself was a breeze for me. I felt a little nausea but took medicine for it. My port side was the most painful. I had to sleep on my other side. I think it took me a few weeks to feel less pain to sleep on my left side. I had no restriction initially but I also didn't feel any hunger. I've had 5 fills to date. My fills are out of pocket at $200 each. Finally I'm at my sweet spot. The sweet spot is when you are losing at a good pace, don't feel hungry and aren't PB'ing regularly. If I overeat I do PB. That is a given. I especially can eat Mexican food the best. I love it. Chili rellenos go down perfectly. I think it is because they are mushy. Anyway, I am considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week. I have just hit the 41 lb mark which is 1/2 way to goal. My goal was 82 lbs post op. I also lost 40 lbs in 2 years before banding. I love my band. I wouldn't take it out for anything. I hope your journey is successful and you enjoy your band as much. Good luck.
  17. Hi Tarami, congrats on making your life changing decision. I love my lapband. I'm sure you will love yours too. Congrats!
  18. I've been banded since June 6th and today I am 1/2 way to goal. I've lost 41 lbs to date and I want to lose another 41 lbs. I lost 40 lbs preop as well. I want to reach 200 lbs in the next 6-7 months. That would put me a year+ out and at goal. This is great. Thanks for your support. I love this forum. God bless!:rose:
  19. I would persist with him. It sounds like the band placement may be the issue. Can't he do a upper GI or barrium swallow to see where the band is?
  20. Katie, it is a good thing that you are looking at yourself this way. You can definitely eat around the band. I would highly consider your thoughts before you move forward with the surgery. The band is a tool and a tool only. You can still make poor food choices and eat around it. Best of luck to you with your decision.
  21. Its hard to say what you will lose. I am a slow loser at 40 lbs in 7 months. I wouldn't do anything differnt though. I think you will find good weight lose if you follow the rules. Best of luck to you.
  22. Karen, you are probably fine. I would just talk to your surgeon. I snuck in a solid too soon but my band was fine after a barrium swollow test. You are probably okay.
  23. Welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on making your life changing decision. Best of luck.
  24. Hi Kity, what part of CA are you from? I'm from Norther CA and have a great surgeon up here. Best of luck to you.
  25. That is amazing news. Just think how much you will lose after being banded. Everything will change for you. Way to go!
