  1. Rejuvination, huh? Wow. I learn something new every day, which is good. But this one is just weird. I know MINE didn't get saggy after the kiddos! LOL But that is one set of muscles that I never did let get out of shape! LOL Gee-willikers...I bet that hurts like hell...
  2. OMG! I'm so embarrassed! How funny that I didn't get that?!?!? Wait a minute! You can "rebuild" those? As in plastic surgery? What for?!?!?
  3. Hey, guys! I know this is pretty sappy, but it really says how I feel about you guys...my lapband buddies. I know, I know...I'm really pretty sappy...I just hide it well! Week of 03/27/2008 SUBJECT: Part of something so much bigger than myself POSTER: DANALYNV Originally posted as an entry in her SparkPage blog. Last November I was driving behind a bus doing the speed limit when from out of nowhere a car whips around both me and the bus. Yes, double yellow lines, on a hill, going around a blind curve... I freaked out, and said to my son "Oh my gosh, that person has a death wish!" After that corner the road becomes an upward progression of hills and valleys, so there's no seeing what's ahead until you're actually there. Well, sure enough, when we arrived there, it was a mess, a nightmare! I pulled over as quickly as I could and called 911. The car was in a ditch on the opposite side of the road about 50 yards from the car it had just hit head-on. Inside was a lady, probably in her early 50's, an airbag had punched her in the gut and chest pretty hard and she couldn't breath. I was concerned she was having a heart attack because of the way she was grasping her chest. She was very much in shock and because of the enormous amount of smoke pouring in through the vents she thought the car was going to blow up, but there was no getting her out, so I got as much of myself as could in through the busted out window and held her. Finally, after several minutes, when the paramedics arrived I had to let go of her and get out of the way, but I have to say, it broke my heart to let go, I didn't want to. This lady and I had bonded... and during those terrifying moments I had lost all sense of myself... there was no "ME" in the picture, only us... The reason I'm telling this story is because all of you beautiful SparkPeople cause me to have that same feeling... the feeling that I'm a part of something so much bigger than myself... That it's just as important to me that all of you become healthy and happy as it is that I do. The feeling that if you're hurting or in pain that I have a responsibility to reach out and help... my pain does NOT require any more attention than anyone else's. I am obliged to help heal the human condition as a whole, and oddly enough, I feel like that's more of a privilege than anyone could ask for or deserve. We live in such a busy, isolated, society, there is so much loneliness and sorrow... so much stress and need of THINGS... when I was in that car with that woman, every bit of that vanished... all I felt was a desperate need for her to live. I want you all to LIVE in every aspect of the word... I don't need to know you (although, I'd love to) or be your close friend to know that you are a part of me... that the healthier you are, the healthier I am... that the more success and goals you reach the more likely I am to do the same. We aren't just losing weight, here, my SparkFriends, you and I have the potential to change things in the universe we may never know about or remotely be able to understand... Let's not ever forget that as we go day to day focusing on those silly old scales.

  5. What is va jay jay's?
  6. Hey, Suzzzie! My phone died while we were texting and I didn't have my charger with me. (I was driving at the time. Yes, I'm the one everyone hates who texts while driving!) That's why I disappeared. So how were the sauces they had you try? Something new and interesting?
  7. BG - WTF?!?!? Where the hell do you live again? Greenland? Man, I feel for ya...it was over 80 here the other day and I was planting hot flowers. Hey, so you are CD now! Cool! I'm glad you crossed over to the wild side! I didn't realize you had set such an early timeframe for that event. That's great. I just want to get one in "this year". Welcome! Post often! Yeah, I had thought about the charm, but you are right that they are pretty limited on space. Plus, I have plans for every single link left open on my charm bracelet! When I get it complete, it will weigh more than ME! Hardy-Har! ZZ is a nurse...keeping people in stitches? Okay, I made a lame joke! But where is WHOS, anyhow? That is HIS job, right? LOL (Now THAT was funny!) I have to say, I just really like my bike, TOO! I truly do! I thought I was the only whacko who got all warm and fuzzy over the bike! I have faith that you will get both those rides in! It will be great weather for you! And how exciting that you got your aerobars in! It normally costs $20 to have them put on at my LBS, but because my girl had auxillary brake levers on center, they had to be removed. Which meant removal and rerouting of the cables. Which meant unwrapping and rewrapping my drop bars. Jeez...the labor to put them on was TWICE what the aerobars cost! Okay, can I just say that I love the nickname "Juicy"? That's awesome! Oh, C! That is a toughie, coming up with a nickname for you! I'm going to give that some thought! So you have looked at this new rack stuff, huh? I think I'm going to start looking into it. I know I would have to be a cash pay, so it will be a bit to save that up on my own. Hubby is not crazy about this idea! What's up with that?!?!? I thought all guys wanted a big rack on their woman? I want gorgeous big tits...not TOO big, of course. But I'm with J...mine are disappearing with continued weight loss. ICK Wow...this was one long-ass post!
  8. Yeah...I know who you are, silly! But I didn't think you'd been there often enough to know the drill and get a nickname yet, so I wanted to help out and get you in the groove with us! We are a fun group! A bit brash at times, for sure...but fun!
  9. You're right, there IS a lot of chatter in there, but there's also TONS of great bike info. We love answering questions and offering support. Most folks in there are "roadies". (Ride road bikes.) I guess I was obnoxious enough to jump right in there and just participate! LOL Come in there and I'll introduce you, if you like. It's easier to get into the group than you think. Once Julie had given you an acronym, you're a shoe-in! LOL We all have one or two letter acronyms, we don't type out names. You would be a good CR or CN, maybe? I'm TX...and I can PM you a list of everyones initials. I taped a copy of it to my comp screen when I first joined the thread so I could keep everybody straight!
  10. Wow! That's amazing, Ceradad! Giant is a great bike. I need a triathalon bike before the end of the year...I wonder if Giant makes them? Dunno. I'm so "stuck" on Specialized, though! I'm not typically a brand-conscious person on anything except for purses (Coach) and boots (Justin Ropers), but Specialized seems to fit me so well that I am a huge fan now. Did they put your bike on the trainer and fit you to it, Ceradad? If not, you will want to do that. It will make a HUGE difference in how long you can stay in the saddle and still be able to walk! LOL
  11. Okay...NOW where did everyone go? Today woke up sore as &^%*!!!!! Did a TON of landscaping yesterday and my legs are so sore from all the stooping, crouching, getting up, kneeling down...ant bites on my hands....arms sore from digging so many holes for flowers (somewhere between 150-200!!!). So anyhow, I slept in this morning...took it easy before going to work out. Felt better after moving around..."note to self", right? But this evening I've been sitting around and now I'm sore again! UGH! Today was back day...went real heavy again. Boy, I need to make myself do that more days than not! It feels great! Plus we are adding abs in every day now, so I'm glad for that. I was real sore from yesterday (first hard ab day) so I couldn't do quite as much today, but I made myself do three sets of crunches and three sets of knee raises....gotta get broken in...can't quit! Tomorrow I'm not going to the gym! Can you believe it? I have GOT to get another long ride under my belt, so I'm going tomorrow. I hope to cycle at least 60 miles tomorrow...80 would be optimal. Then I want to do the same on Saturday and Sunday if the weather holds. I hope it does! My big ride is rapidly approaching!
  12. I know what you mean! I didn't want to put my city and state, either...but I did. Somewhere on that site is a list of funny quotes people have put on that line, but I can't find it now. Stuff like "Keep Pedaling" or whatever. It wasn't that lame, there was good stuff on there. I'll try to find it again and send you the link. If anyone else finds it first, please send ME the link! I may order a secondary plate so I don't have to switch out with the other bands.
  13. Hey there, J! (OH Juli) I just saw you mention our humble little thread and thought I would give a link in case anyone wants to join our craziness! (BTW...it is consistently THE most active exercise thread!) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/has-anyone-taken-up-bycyling-35343/
  14. You won't keel over, ZZ! Jeez, Louise! LOL I've never looked into it...what does a hot set of knockers run, anyhow? I'm totally losing my boobs, dang it! When I put on a decent sports bra, you can hardly tell I have any! That compression works TOO good! Oh! I picked my bike up tonight from my LBS, so I get to try out my new aerobars now! I won't get to ride until Saturday, and only if it doesn't rain. I hope the weather holds for me! I'm pretty sure I will need to adjust the seat...I'll have to wait and see.
  15. Hi, C! :tongue_smilie: Yeah, hopefully everyone is out catching some good weather! The RoadID is a great idea. I really don't like my medical ID bracelet and never wear it. I thought I would like it, but it bothered me on both wrists. It didn't "sit well" next to my watch, and it sure didn't look right next to my charm bracelet on the other wrist. So I quit wearing it just a couple weeks after I got it. <SIGH>...I want implants.
  16. Hello-o-o-o-o? Where did everyone go? <sniff> I'm so excited! My RoadID is en route to me! I can't wait to get it and get it all set up! And I'll have it in time for Tour Dallas next Saturday, which is cool! Oh, and I went onto the accessories page and ordered extra bands for the ID...ankle and shoe, since I'm not sure which I'll prefer yet. Hey, I've heard/read about larger riders/runners being called Clydesdales and Athenas, but does anyone have info on what qualifies one as such?
  17. Oh dammit! Well you might want a second? LOL I got the basic black wrist band in the interactive style. I like the idea of being able to update it for when we go on vacation or when I'm doing events and such. I can't wait to get it! Yes, great minds....

  19. Thanks, guys and gals! I love you folks! Daddy, glad to hear about your "heat wave"...<chortle>. Yeah, break out the shorts and sunscreen, dude! Jess, I hope you get to feeling fantastic very soon! And good luck with your school! You'll do great! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today was something different...we did legs then an ab workout. We NEVER work abs. I always do them on my own. It was cool, though. I've never done standard crunches on a slant board....WOW. That was hard! He set the incline on the steepest grade, of course! Six sets of those and then six sets of knee raises. Never done knee raises before, either. Very cool. I'm so sore this evening. I love it! I've got new moves!

  21. My gosh! All you people with snow still! I planted hot weather annuals today in the flower beds at one of my for-sale houses! I know we get hot here, but I couldn't take all that cold! BRRRRRRRR! I forgot to post my workout again yesterday...what's up with me? I think my mind might be on overload right now, but of course I'm Super Woman and nothing affects me, right? Ha...right. Yesterday was biceps and triceps for about an hour. My workout partner had to leave early, so we shortened it up a bit. Today was chest for about an hour and a half. I wish, wish, WISH I could increase my bench press more than I am! When I can do my body weight, I'll be happy! :biggrin2: On the other hand, I am starting to really "lean out" in some places, shoulders and biceps being most affected so far, so the focus on them is paying off some. It's amazing to be able to really see the muscle I've put on without that fat layer over it so much! Now my focus area will be my upper back for a bit while maintaining the rest. This is REALLY HARD and painfully slow for women.
  22. Such a shitty day, and I read this and just smile and think "Uh huh! That's DADDY! Goofy as ever!" So simple, but I needed that. :sneaky: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks, B! For the condolences and the tip! I hadn't figured it out yet and that did it!
  23. Okay, I feel like an idiot because I can't figure this out... Any tips on getting podcasts onto my IPOD? This is what I'm trying to get onto it (I use ITUNES): Podcast running jogging walking training injury injuries Podcasts
  24. You are very welcome! Yeah, my DD was picking on me while I was whining and moaning about doing my first one. (Heartless wench, like her mama!) I must've had that syringe in my hand for 20 minutes and started to do it 100 times before I actually did it! I'm such a wuss. Any tips on getting podcasts onto my IPOD? This is what I'm trying to get onto it (I use ITUNES): Podcast running jogging walking training injury injuries Podcasts
  25. Yeah, I'm definitely going to start C25K tonight, but you may be right...they might burn me out. Plus one of them is bringing their lab to run with us, so he is probably WAY more conditioned for it than I am. I don't know...I think I would rather do it alone. I'm too much of a loner, but what can I say? LOL It's not a blowup pool, goofy! It's in ground, but no deep end...called a play pool. My neighborhood has postage stamp sized yards...main reason we bought here...hate yardwork. So the pool is only about 40 feet long...maybe not even that. But you can come swim laps with me anytime...you perv, you!
