I was blessed with a nice round butt- other half is afraid I am going to lose it.. I hope not but if I do that's ok cause I will rock whatever I am left with. People are the cruelest creatures on the planet! I find though that the nasty ones are the most insecure. Becoming thinner or being fat doesn't make a person any prettier when the insides are ugly. I would rather be fat and surround by other fat people who are kind than give a second of my time or consideration to a mean Nasty person. So good for you for standing up for yourself! Don't ever let anyone ever take your sparkle.

scrapbasket reacted to AvaFern in Plastics completed...need encouragement please
My plastics are scheduled for next week and I opted out of the arm lift temporarily because I am scared of the scar. It seems no matter where they place it, you can see it a little bit. I know it may not be much consolation, but if it's at the back of your arm, it is probably hard for you to see it without using a mirror and turning around to look, right? Look at the beautiful person you are from the front and the side and try to ignore the back part. The only people who are looking at it are behind you, likely not paying any attention to scars on your arms, and all of us have scars...some just more visible than others, so eventually you may just forget it's even there. Also, scars look really bad the first few weeks after surgery....in a few months they should fade considerably and you may not find them to be noticeable at all. Good luck with your recovery!

If he's not willing to advocate for you, try another surgeon. A second or third opinion cannot hurt. Hope you get the answer you need soon.

This is wonderful!!! You should feel so proud of yourself! I too just hit one-derland and the feeling is so satisfying. One of the best parts of that feeling is knowing that we're never going to see the 2's again!

I rarely go out to eat, but if I do, I do not explain myself to anyone when ordering, unless I feel like humoring them. Then I might tell them I am a surgically altered freak.

I understand ! another former member of the clean plate club. if my russian ancestors could see me now, there are generations of survive the winter with not enough food who taught their bodies how to endure... but I cant help them by stuffing myself. I threw out tons of food this summer, and made my dogs very happy with all the goodies and leftovers. I decided it was ok to have more than one thing on my plate, and I def cant finish it all. and it is ok to have more choices in restaurants, not just order an appetizer. for now, I am willing to let the overfill go elsewhere than down the tube. if I overeat I pay in stomach acid and pain. I am very happy to be wearing some smaller sizes and taking clothes in instead of adding width.love sara

My paternal grandparents raised 12 children during the depression. Every time my family went out to the farm to see her, there was always plenty of homemade food on the table. The ritual went like this, oddly enough: The grown-ups ate first, and then the kids. We did not get to choose what went on our plates. Grandma plated our food, and we had to finish what we started even if it was food we did not like, such as liver or spinach wilted in vinegar. Is it any surprise that my grandparents, parents, most aunts and uncles, and nearly all of my 60 some cousins were obese?
In the family history, there are many obese adults who suffered an untimely death in their late 40's and early 50s, including my oldest brother who died of a heart attack at the age of 47. He weighed 420 pounds. My mother died at the age of 67 of an abdominal aeortic anurysm. She was 5'2" and weighed 320 pounds. One of the reasons that I decided to sleeve is that as I neared my 62 birthday last year, I realized that I was follwing down my mother's path and need to divert to a healthier path with haste,
I do blame a lot of this on the clean plate regiment. We could not have dessert unless we cleaned our plates. So, we finished up too much food on the plate (always including potatoes, bread, mac and cheese) and then had cake or pie or ice cream. No wonder. Geeze Louize. My sleeve has liberated me from cleaning my plate, since I can't just shovel in what I want and then have dessert. Just because there is food in the fridge and pantry, does not mean I have to eat it all. My sleeve, bossy bossy bossy Miss Sleeve insists that I weigh and measure and don't eat beyond capacity. I love bossy Miss Sleeve. She keeps me on the straight and narrow path to good health.

"A total of 274 patients between the ages of 45 – 64 were studied, with the researchers finding a direct correlation between the presence of hypertension – also known as high blood pressure – and impaired hearing. On a positive note, the researcher’s found that by bringing a patient’s blood pressure under control an additional loss of hearing could be prevented."
Whoa !!! Holy cow. I just discovered my latest NSV. Thanks for the link!!!!!

@@IcanMakeit, weight loss is amazing, you'll be in the small sizes before you know it. 70lbs lost in 2 months is a huge accomplishment, I hope that at 2 months I can boast the same stats.

hi. I had the lapband 7 years ago, initially I thought it was great. problems came up, I lost 38 # and then no progress, slow regain, bulemia, leaking port. due to other issues it took about 3 years to come to the place of replacing it with the gastric sleeve.we removed the band and I am recovering from all that. the biggest problem has been gastric reflux and intermittently, overacid stomach despite various meds and acid blockers. I just want to check in and say hi. I am very happy to be again in "onederland" and finally see my clothes too damm big. love sara

I would be really surprised if anyone will take the drain out except your surgeons office. I work for doctors and they will not touch anything another doctor put in but ER may call your doctor and get the ok for them to pull it. Liability. It stinks that he is too "busy" to pull it. The medical assistant or nurse will probably pull it anyway.

scrapbasket reacted to Embrace in Can You Eat Salad, Vegetables And Fruits With The Gastric Sleeve?
Exactly what happened with my band. So many disappointments and complications. GERD started gradually but five years later I ingested into the lungs and nearly died. My diet was a disaster too. I couldn't tolerate any raw or most cooked veggies, cottage cheese, eggs no matter how cooked, and most meat came right back up too. Pretty much anything nutrient dense was impossible to keep down. Even unhealthy slider foods had a 50/50 chance of coming back up. Despite that, I lost 35 pounds total and never budged another ounce. Once the decision was made to revise band to sleeve, the Fluid came out and I ate veggies like a woman possessed. I ate salad compulsively for lunch and dinner for 2 solid months. Loaded up on fruit too. I actually snacked on steamed broccoli and roasted cauliflower every other day. It was like my body knew it needed serious nutrition.
I'm one week post sleeve revision and very much still on liquid diet so I can't speak to that but I'm very encouraged by others' experiences with veggies. It makes me feel that this will be a healthier long-term option and I'm looking forward to the future.
