  1. Hey everybody, I am about 4 weeks out from surgery and doing pretty well.I have not had a fill yet and I was banded on 11/11/08 and will not be able to be filled until 01/14/09.This will be almost 9 weeks for me.I was just wondering how do you know exactly when you need a fill? How long should you be able to go in between eating? as long as your losing weight are you okay?Any advice would be appreciated. Also did anyone else have a hard time getting in all their Water in the beginning?:tt1:
  2. Just a question I was told by my surgeon not to take advil or tylenol pill form only liquid.Does anyone out there take these in pill form? The liquid is sooo gross!!Any advice??Thanks!!
  3. Hey there! I'm 2 weeks out and am here to tell you it WILL get better. The first 4 or 5 days were pretty brutal, alot worse than I expected!! I just saw my surgeon today and am on to pureed or "mushies" and I'm here to tell ya it's a whole different world......so hang in there cause it's going to get better before you know it.Just rest up & listen to your body. Take care!!:grouphug:
  4. The gauze & tape over the steri strips they told me to try to remove day 2 in the shower,a couple came off no problem the others made me feel nauseated when I pulled so they stayed on a couple more days.I'm 9 days out and have lost my two side steristrips on the small incisions but my big one and the one on top nor the belly buttton are ready. They told me 10-14 days and to let them fall when there ready and I'm in no hurry.Everything takes time is what I'm learning!! Take care!!
  5. Thanks everybody all your comments & suggestions make me feel alot better!! Day by day,I guess? So this is bandster's hell huh?? good name!! LOL:cool:
  6. Hey everyone just a question?? I'm like 9 days post op & the hunger seems to be getting worse everyday instead of better? Is this normal?? Please tell me I'm not always going to be this hungry??I still only on liquids for like another 6 days but it is so rough.I'm getting very irritable with my family & feeling kinda down.Any advise I know you've all either been here or are going to be here soon. Thanks in advance.......
  7. Hey there, I was banded 11/11/08 so I not that far ahead of you.The first 4 days after were the worst for me.I had lots of pain, nausea & gas. It's so hard but you will get thru it.I'm 9 days post op now and feeling soooo much better!!Everyday makes such a difference with the pain & your energy level. Just listen to your body if you feel like walking walk,if you feel like sleeping then rest. You'll get there before you know it! Take care!!
  8. Hey there, I FEEL your pain........I'm only out day 7 and the hunger is hard.I cant even have pudding on full liquids, only yogurt, broth, jello, slimfast or milk!! oh and dont forget those delicious popsicles that are sooooo filling!!Hang in there I think there is a method to our madness!! hopefully?? JK ,Just know your are not alone, alot of our suffering for our GREATER cause to be healthy, happy & thinner!! P.S. I gave up on the broth alltogether I cant hack it!! Take care:thumbup:
  9. Oooh! That sounds really painful! I'm sure you've tried Gas-X that kinda helped me......do you think it could be an adverse reaction to something your eating like certain vegetables or something? I'm really new to this(only 7 days post-op) so I may be way off based! Does anyone else have to burp alot?? and does it stay this way or will that pass?? Hang in there!! Take Care!
  10. Hi Chentel, Im new here too so I dont have a ton of experience. But I had a similar experience except I went in thinking of the bypass and my surgeon talked me into lap band! I have very severe IBS and he felt the Bypass would make it worse. He told me that I could expect to lose about 75 lbs and I think he was aiming low so if I lose more I'll be ecstatic! My girlfriend who was going thru the same process, same surgeon asked about lap band and he recommended bypass as she has about 120lbs to lose & really no health conditions.........so I guess it depends & I think it's a personel choice.Do what you feel comfortable doing. A co-worker who is a RN & also had bypass told me they are both a tool & it all depends how you use it....one is not necessarily better than the other......I also know of others who have lost 100lbs or more on lapband.....I think it may just be a little more work?? Good Luck......hope it helps!!:smile2:
  11. Hey there!! I'm 6 days out and still feeling a little weak & sore too.I actually forced myself out of the house yesterday & it was good to be out but by the end of the night I was definitely feeling it! Today I feel pretty good but it changes by the minute.......hang in there......were going get there soon...I think? :smile2:
  12. Hey there.........welcome !! I'm brand new here too!! I was banded on 11/11/08 and am like 4 days out & kinda struggling!! I had a coworker go thru the process for RNY with Kaiser out here in the East Bay,CA.It seems liked a very streamlined smooth process for her.I'd say start tp finish like 6 months.I do remember they made her lose like 20lbs or so........Hope that helps........ Good luck with your decision.........
  13. Hey there......I'm 4 days out now & still struggling!! The pain is letting up but I'm still nauseaus & now having diarrhea!! This is tough !! Alta Bates is a very nice hospital,I was overall very happy with Dr Kim & all my nurses(with exception of one nurse who didn;t want to help me with my pain,we had words!!) It was a good experience and I keep reading how it gets better but it is a definite struggle at this point, get ready for the hunger & the 2 weeks of liquids diet it is pretty brutal. Sorry I'm just being completely honest!! Hope this helps!!I keep telling myself no pain, no gain!! Good luck & best wishes!!
