I had the same issue with Garber. I was scheduled to meet him today but a few days ago they called and told me her doesn't take my ins and they asked me if i would see Angstadt. i was like, who is he? i never heard of him? how old is he? how many has he done, etc etc. my case is a little risky because I'm an ex banister so i want someone with a lot of experience. I'm meeting him monday.

oh thats good to hear. I'm meeting with him monday but I'm not sure he will take me because I'm a revision and I'm not sure if he does those. the office said he does but who knows? I'm not sure how much experience he has with them or with the sleeve for that matter. i will see him in Pt Jeff.

im wondering what you mean by didn't take your shots? are you supposed to do them yourself or is this something they give you after surgery at the hospital and you refused?

i can totally understand someone who is doing surgery because they have poor health, but what about those who don't have poor health issues at the moment? i mean, for example....me! i am 41 years old, happily married with 2 beautiful kids. I have no major health complications right now. I would love to lose 80lbs or so and keep it off for life. i battle with weight all the time and i hate myself for looking the way i do. there is no reason for it yet i can't do anything much about it, so it seems. i am desperate! i am uncomfortable. i have high blood pressure that i keep under control with a diaretic for now. maybe one day ill need to get real meds for it. my mother has diabetes so I'm sure if i continue being this heavy I'm afraid i too will have that as i get older. but right now, i don't have any of these things? thats why i struggle a bit more with my decision than that of a person who has health issues. if you have major health issues its almost like you can justify taking the risk. I'm meeting with another dr on monday so I'm hoping my head will become clearer on this. I'm sorry for the initial post on this topic but its a good way for us to all share our thoughts and it helps me to read what others think and feel.

I'm just wondering if any of you might have thought or wondered if we are jumping into this sleeve surgery too soon? i mean, it hasn't been around that long so the long term stats are still unknown. i mean isn't this what we did when the band came out and now we say to ourselves if we only knew then what we know now we would have made different choices. i don't want to be in the same situation a few years down the road with the sleeve as i was with the band. does this make any sense to anyone?

well thank God you didn't have problems. so I'm guessing you are happy with the sleeve? do you ever worry if anything bad can happen to your stomach after many years out? I'm wondering crazy things?

yes please fill me in after you meet with him. i had an apptmnt for this wed to meet dr garner and today the office called to tell me he is an out of network provider and they want me to see dr angstadt. i really had my heart set on garner, but they said this dr was good etc etc. I'm curious how many sleeves he has done? also, how many revision he has done? please let me know how you like him and what you thought. id love to hear. I'm meeting with him on monday.

was the dr who did the sleeve the same as who did the band? did he recommend the sleeve to you or lean against it?

How did they fix the leak?

hi, i read all these scary things about the risks of leaks after surgery, but I'm wondering how long is it a risk factor? i mean, is it something to just be concerned about the first week or so after surgery or would one always be worried for years to come?

hi, im wondering why you had the revision? did you have a problem with your band? were you afraid of leaking? when is the risk for leakages over? is it something to always be concerned about or no?

But how does a dr know how much scar tissue you would have ? Doesnt he need to wait until he see when he does the surgery? I dont think xrays show it

thanks for the input. it helps to know that everyone feels this way at one time or another. i had 2 lap band surgeries and 1 surgery to remove the band so in all i had 3 operations. this would be 4! scary! dawn

did the same dr who did your band revise you to the sleeve?

I'm just wondering if they removed your band and did the sleeve in the same surgery. my band has been removed for 3 1/2 years so I've had nothing all this time.

did the dr warn you that you were a higher risk? i guess i just got scared because i read a terrible story of someone who ended up with leaks and in ICU etc etc and almost died. i don't want to risk my life to be thin, but i so want to be a normal weight and i know this would help me so much control the amnt of food i eat. i know I'm still in the early stages and all these are normal thoughts i guess. i just don't want to push my luck. part of me says i should learn from my bad experience with the band and be thankful it was removed with a problem and learn to do it on my own. the other part of me says its so hard and i tried and i need help!! i guess in time the answers will come. thanks everyone for your input, it does help!

I have read some terrible stories about some complications with the revision from band to sleeve and now i feel super nevous. This is normal right? Part of me is extra afraid because i was confident when i got y band that i woudnt be part of that small percentage who has problems and i was! Im afraid i will be in e percentage that has problems if i had a sleeve. Can someone be that unlucky ? Please tell me im not alone?..

Really? You had no scar tissue? Thats good to hear. The dr i saw didnt see insde me of course, he just said he KNOWS id be a mess insde! Hmm?.... I also heard they cant tell until they operate too.
