Ladies? (waxing question)
Yep, I'd say the "Playboy" is a landing strip.

OMG, that HURT!
I just had my first PB ever. Holy f'in crap, that HURT! Thought I was having a heart attack for a little bit. Jesus, between the sliming and the excrucuating pain, by the time it actually came up, it was a relief! I guess I'm going on liquids for the next several days. Pizza's going on the "do not eat" list. NEVER AGAIN. And I only had a single bite, too!

Yeah, but do you think one of them will pick him up as their VP candidate if they get the nomination?

People rant
Well, hell. Apparently, I pissed off Firefox and lost a long reply to this. Hopefully, this one will go through. That makes a lot of sense. I've thought it was probably a major personality conflict. There are people on this site and other sites that I go to that I try to virtually avoid like the devil whenever possible, just because their posts come across as incredibly passive-aggressive to me. Which of course, irritates me to no end, so I wind up making a post that definitely conveys my irritation, so those people apparently think I'm attacking them, even when I'm not. That, of course, leads to MORE passive-aggressiveness from them, and the cycle continues, and I eventually wind up feeling like I need to start banging my head against a wall. I just don't see the point in being all nicey-nice when people don't really feel that way. I think that people should say what they mean in the way that they mean it. But hell, that's why I suck at small-talk, too!

Now here's a question for everyone: Who do you think will pick up Edwards, Clinton or Obama? Or will neither of them?

'08 - Who do you want?
I think Ron Paul is still in. At least, I heard an ad for him yesterday. I honestly don't think the others have gotten enough exposure to have any real effect on an election, so I wouldn't even include them.

No diet Coke or seltzer?? Really?? Arrrggh.........
Like Trystelle said, you really don't miss it after a while. I wouldn't say I was a carbonation addict pre-band, but I usually drank carbonated stuff with every meal except breakfast. Occasionally, I'll have a craving for ginger ale or something now, but a sip or two really satisfies me. Of course, a lot of that is because it really isn't that comfortable for me to drink a lot of carbonated stuff now. The air kinda gets trapped and isn't comfortable.

People rant
And I think it got lost in my rant, lol, but one thing I'm asking is this, "Is it just because my personality is so straight-forward that these people seem so passive-aggressive and shady, or is it that they really are that passive-aggressive and shady?"

People rant
Okay, bear with me for a bit. I'm thinking as I type, so this might be a tad disjointed. And to head off any bitching, no, I'm not necessarily discussing anyone on this site, but rather people in general, both online and IRL. :tt1: Does it irritate anyone else when people are passive aggressive? I really wonder if it's just personality conflicts that make so many people seem deeply passive aggressive, or if they really are like that with everyone, not just me. I mean, it may just be the way I'm wired, but I don't see the point in dancing around crap and it really bugs me when people do that. I don't see the purpose in pretending. Does that make sense? I mean, there's no point in being out-and-out nasty to people that you don't like, but what the heck's the usefulness in pretending that you're best friends? Surely it takes more effort to be a really fake person than it takes to be honest. I would think that it'd be mentally draining, wouldn't you? I mean, they're going around pretending to be something/someone they're not, when I'm sure everyone sees through it anyway (I know I usually do). All it does is leave a bad taste in people's mouths. And I'm not necessarily talking about people being passive aggressive towards me. When they do it to the other people around me, it bothers the hell out of me, too. Don't they realize that the people around them usually see what they're doing? You know, the people that are nice to someone's face and then turn around and gossip about them. Do they think that makes the people they're gossiping to like them or trust them? Or the people that intentionally bait folks online, making seemingly nice/unobjectionable posts that really aren't nice/unobjectionable when you read them carefully? You know the type, the people that are very careful about their word choice, taking potshots in a way that they can deny being intentional later. What the hell's the point in it? If you don't like someone, at least have the balls to say so, or leave the person alone. I mean, hell, if I don't like someone, they KNOW I don't like them. I don't beat around the bushes, taking cowardly potshots at them and then denying it later. I don't act like I'm their friend to their faces, letting them help me with personal matters, and then gossip/badmouth them on another website or to coworkers. I try not to be mean to them or truly nasty, but I'm not going to pretend we're bosom buddies, either. Really, is it a personality thing? Are there personality types that are more prone to that type of behavior? Now, I know that all people are going to be passive aggressive at one point or another. That's human nature, I think. We all have moments of childishness, weakness, whatever you want to call it, when we do things that we wouldn't necessarily do otherwise. That's not what I'm ranting about. What I'm bitching about is when people do it all the time, when it's apparently their normal behavior. Are those people the ones that never let their behavior mature past high school, or do they simply have certain personality types that lend themselves to that behavior?

Eating Bread
I could eat bread before I got decent restriction, probably up until my 3rd fill. Now? No way! In fact, it's my guage on whether or not I need a fill. If I can get bread down easily, I know I need a fill. Bread is my only no-no, though. I can eat anything else (pasta, rice, etc.) with no problem.

Wanted to smack my doctor today.
I went and had the bloodwork for my 6-month post-op check-up done today. While I was there, my doctor (my PCP, 'cause my surgeon wanted him to do the bloodwork) made a comment, saying that I needed to be sure that I don't "cheat the band" by eating lots of bread, Pasta, and other shit. Now, this guy's NOT well-educated on the band. I'm the first patient of his to have band surgery. He even had to ask me if the band was still considered bariatric surgery. And now he wants to tell ME how to best utilize MY band? I was VERY tempted to say, "Wow! You know, I was NEVER told that in the 6 1/2 months I've been banded. Or in the 9 months I took to educate and prepare myself before I was approved and had surgery. My surgeon and nutritionist and tons of online aquaintances must have missed sharing that little tidbit. THANKS for letting me know that information, especially since all of the food you mentioned is stuff that I can eat very little to none of, in the first place!" Asshole. :rolleyes2:

Ladies? (waxing question)
You're right, Nair is evil. I can't use it at all, since I apparently have very stubborn hair. If I left it on long enough to get the hair off (no longer than suggested, though), I got burns. I tried it on my legs ONCE and that was more than enough. After it took off maybe 25% of the hair and turned my legs bright red, I tossed the bottle in the garbage. Add that to several bad experiences with using it on my face, and I just gave up on depilatories and turned to shaving. I'm thinking I'm gonna go for a Brazilian wax, though. Maybe not completely bare, but enough.

Has anyone here tried a Brazilian bikini wax? How painful and embarassing is it?

Ladies-Perfect Cup Size?
Same here. I'm 5'3", and I also have broad shoulders. I currently have Ds, and I like the way it looks. Of course, I still have a bit to lose, so I'll reserve final judgement for when I do reach goal, but I'm thinking I'll probably like to stay at roughly the same size I'm at right now. I know I'll need to have at least a breast lift, and if that means I'll lose size, I'll probably opt for augmentation, too.

The Weight Watchers Cycle
Absolutely. That's why I've always had a bad taste in my mouth towards WW. I mean, hey, good for the person that thought it up, and the person that thought up Jenny Craig, etc., etc., etc. They've managed to make a mint, I'm sure. The organization itself, though, IMO, is still built around making money off of fat people who keep coming back to them over and over and over. The organizations want the programs to fail. Not immediately, of course, but eventually. After all, if the program didn't fail, they wouldn't get the guaranteed repeat customers who think that it wasn't the program's failure, but rather their failure. The customers think that if they just try a little harder this time, they'll succeed. And in 6 months or a year, they'll be coming right back for another try when the current one fails. The program doesn't teach someone how to live, IMO, it teaches them to become dependent on WW.

Lapband PMS Munchies
Have you tried the 100-calorie packs? You can find them in a lot of different types, Cheezits, cookies, etc., and they're the perfect size for bandsters. They fill you up without letting you eat a ton of calories. Not necessarily super-low carb, but not high in calories, either.

Man forced to pay child support for a kid that isn't his
Ditto. If he's spent that many years raising the child as his own, and the child thinks of him as her father, he is her father, regardless of DNA. I can definitely see where the judge is coming from. On the other hand, I do understand where the father is coming from. He feels betrayed by his former wife, rightfully so. But, IMO, he should also be thinking of what's best for the little girl that he thought of and raised as his daughter, not trying to stick it to his ex-wife.

When is the right time...
I just started looking the other day, and my BMI is 31.something. I figure there isn't any harm in starting to look now, so that I have an idea of what I'll do and who I'll go to.

I Have a Dream . . .
Honestly, your mention of other groups was very superficial. You skimmed over them, and the way you phrased your OP made it sound like you thought that Christians were being singled out of the crowd for "special bashing treatment" that you thought every other group was being accepted except yours. If that isn't the way you meant for your OP to sound, I apologize, but I obviously wasn't the only one that read it that way. And did you or did you not make the following statements? You said it yourself, it was the Christian-bashing you're interested in. Does that not sound like you think you're being persecuted? Can you understand where where my comment came from?

To me, "viable" means that it's got a greater chance of living than dying. Hence, 50%.

I Have a Dream . . .
Like I said before, what people "see" and what they read is not necessarily reality. And to be quite honest, while your original post was quite eloquent, it's verges on offensive (if not outright). Like Green said, there's not been a single group that hasn't been bashed in RnR. And unfortunately, there were Christians doing a lot of the bashing. So to see a post basically talking about all the persecutions Christians supposedly face on this forum, that it's so much more than any other group, is outright offensive to those of us who belong to those other groups. And I would imagine that you basically calling what happens on this site "persecution" and actually comparing it to what Jesus Christ went through is really offensive to Green, who had parents that fled the holocaust and bombing in WWII. THAT was persecution.
