Wanted to smack my doctor today.

Recommended Posts

I went and had the bloodwork for my 6-month post-op check-up done today. While I was there, my doctor (my PCP, 'cause my surgeon wanted him to do the bloodwork) made a comment, saying that I needed to be sure that I don't "cheat the band" by eating lots of bread, Pasta, and other shit. Now, this guy's NOT well-educated on the band. I'm the first patient of his to have band surgery. He even had to ask me if the band was still considered bariatric surgery. And now he wants to tell ME how to best utilize MY band? I was VERY tempted to say, "Wow! You know, I was NEVER told that in the 6 1/2 months I've been banded. Or in the 9 months I took to educate and prepare myself before I was approved and had surgery. My surgeon and nutritionist and tons of online aquaintances must have missed sharing that little tidbit. THANKS for letting me know that information, especially since all of the food you mentioned is stuff that I can eat very little to none of, in the first place!"

Asshole. :rolleyes2:

Ew, sorry...Now I guess he's an expert, huh? :rolleyes2: Maybe you made him research it and look into it and he's trying to connect with you based on one tidbit he remembers from his 5 minutes of reading.

My PCP didn't really care...I am new to her (been in TX since June 2006, so very little history, plus I've never been much of a doctor goer.) I was expecting a fight, or at least a discussion. I just asked for the referral and she said, "Sure!"

I haven't been asked for a 6 month check up...but it's around the corner.

My PCP listens to my tales of elective surgeries with interest and amusement. She has got a great sense of humour.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
