  1. It's for the hour-long seminar I have to give next Friday. It's also my thesis topic. It's not as good as it could have been, but I'm still crunching numbers for the results of the preliminary analysis (which is what I'm presenting).
  2. Sometimes these tests that we think of as being pointless actually do find things. I had to have an upper GI test done before my insurance would even look at my stuff, and they found that I have a hiatal hernia that I had no idea about.
  3. Bubbles, I suggest you follow the advice of the people in the thread that got locked and put him on your ignore list. That way, you won't see any of the posts he makes or be able to receive PMs from him. Problem solved. As much as you might like to, you don't have the right to tell people that they can't join certain websites or tell other people to ban them.
  4. Actually, a lot of the things that were written about Coke aren't true. The Mythbusters busted a lot of them.
  5. Yeah, they're both heavy.
  6. I've never been thin, so I've always thought it was more work and downright pain (in the case of heels) than it was worth.
  7. Because our society has basically forced us to become bitches and compete with each other. That's why we wear make-up, high heels, jewelry, etc. We've been programmed to believe that we, as the female of the species, must be attractive to males at all times, and that we are in direct competition with other females. What I would give for us to be like many animal species, where the male has to do all the work of attracting a mate and competing with other males.
  8. Unfortunately, I've run into many people like that. Everything that happens to them and every time they get punished for something, it is always someone else's fault. They can't take responsibility for their own actions, and they seem to not be able to associate their own behavior with what's happening to them.
  9. Wow. That was the third board she was banned from? Geeze, if I were her, I'd be reevaluating my behavior.
  10. Whoops! My face is red! I checked to make sure that you were a newbie here before I posted, but I thought it said 01-04-2007. Well, anyway, I haven't seen you post before, so welcome. You're new to me!
  11. Hi, Wendell! Welcome to LBT! You should post your Lap-Band 101 and Lap-Band 102 posts here!
  12. For once, I am SO glad that my period decided to come early. It was scheduled for next week, but came this week instead. It is such a relief, since I am scheduled to have my yearly gyn exam next Thursday (oh, so much fun :rolleyes). At least this will be one less thing to worry about.
  13. Apparently, I have a hiatal hernia that I didn't know about. I thought it was just possible GERD, since I've been going through my Tums fairly quickly. I don't know why I'm surprised, though, since both my parents have hiatal hernias. Must be genetic. Do you guys think this would have any impact on whether or not I get approved for surgery?
  14. She's the one I made a post about here a few weeks ago. She had taken an abstract of a scientific paper and basically added on to it, and posted that the authors had made conclusions that they hadn't. I took her to task for it. Of course, she said that it wasn't her fault, that she'd just stated quotes that other people had made about that article in other papers. It didn't fly, though, because she had posted the abstract with her little changes added to it. That is really what made me question her credentials. Anyone who has had any experience writing scientific papers knows that you just don't do that. Not only is it unethical, it's likely illegal. She drives me insane when she posts because she is always doing it in a holier-than-thou way. Anytime anyone posts, looking for support, she's always after them, saying "you're not doing it right", "you're not following the band rules", "you're going to slip your band or have an erosion if you keep doing that", yadda, yadda, yadda.
  15. Is this the lady whose name starts with "Sandy" and ends with an "R"?
  16. Not all electricity is generated using fossil fuels. A lot is generated hydroelectrically or by wind-power, in some areas. Of course, here in Kentucky, it's coal being burned that generates the majority of our electricity.
  17. I'll bet anything we wouldn't have heard a peep out of these folks if it were Muslims being protrayed as hostage-takers.
  18. Yeah, I think I'll stay here in the future. I love this place, because 99.9% of the people here are supportive of each other. The format of the board is a big plus to me, too. That's one reason why I'm not an often visitor to OH, just because the format of the board gets on one of my few remaining nerves. The people over there are just so confrontational with each other over stupid stuff. Apparently, the fight over Protein supplements is an ongoing on. Here, at least, we can disagree over topics in the RnR forum and still give wonderful support to each other.
  19. I don't know why I keep going to ObesityHelp.com. It is seriously RNY-centered over there. Every time someone posts a question about Lap-bands in the main forum, they get sent off like a leper to the Lap-band forum. It's like they give bandsters their own little corner of OH and then expect them to stay there and never come out. On April 1st, one of the guys from the band board went and posted on the main board. It was meant to be both an April Fools joke and a poke at the RNYers that act like their surgery is the best surgery to have. Of course, it started all sorts of crap. People were flaming each other and the thread got locked. Now the lap-band forum has a stickied post at the top, reminding all who post there that the whole point of OH is acceptance, yadda, yadda, yadda. Of course, there isn't a post like that in the RNY forum or in the main forum. Only the Lap-Band forum deserved to be scolded as a whole, apparently. Pisses me off to no end, especially since a some of the RNY folks who post in the main forum like to make outright mean and misinforming posts about the lap-band and the people who have that surgery.
  20. I think the thing with Bush is that he doesn't necessarily favor the Crawford place over the others. It's just that he wouldn't have the same "good ol' boy from Texas" image if he was vacationing often in liberal New England. And you know how much that image has helped him.
  21. I have no idea. I haven't even met my new surgeon or talked to her. All I know is that my insurance will cover her and that she's got a good record of doing lap-bands. I would imagine that she would fix it, but I don't know how large it is.
  22. They take both of them, but if they schedule the surgery for when I am covered under the new policy, they'll have to re-submit my insurance once the new one is in effect. That's a problem because I have about 2 weeks between the time my new policy starts and the time I have to start classes again in the fall. I finally did get a call from the doctor's office. They've got my results ready for pick-up, but I have to have my mom pick them up for me since I'm 3 1/2 hours away. Unfortunately, she can't get them until tomorrow, because she's working today. Another thing about my results: Apparently, I have a hiatal hernia that I didn't know about.
  23. That's the problem. I can't actually talk to anyone. I have to leave messages on voicemail, and then they call me back. Or at least, they're supposed to. I called and left a message for the records department on Friday, and I called and left a message for the doctor's nurse yesterday. Still no call back. "Leave a short message and we'll call you back as soon as possible," my ass. I'll call again in a few minutes, after I finish lunch (I just got out of class).
  24. Yep. Right now I am working on the PowerPoint presentation and my abstract. I can't, they're three and a half hours away.
  25. Congrats! It will be here before you know it!
