Road to "TWOterville"
Well I felt like a band virgin till I had restriction, lol. But seriously we will help anyway we can And boy am I jealous of the treadmill, lol. I have an aversion to excersising in public and no room for any equipment at home, sigh, someday. I am glad you don't mind my chatter....... 'cause I lost another pound today :clap2:

Mother is sick every night
She may not be making herself vomit like a bulemic would but simply vomitting from eating things she shouldn't. Sounds like she needs some grief counselling and probably an unfill too so she can deal with her emotions without harming the band.
-
Vomitting and the D word...
Try sipping on peppermint tea it should help the nausea. How long have you been banded? If you are more than 6 weeks out one vomit session shouldn't hurt the band, but if you are still healing I would ask the surgeon, just in case.

10mo out and finally have restriction!!!
Well it depends on your surgeon on how aggressiv ethey are with fills but you can totally get a fill every week or two till you are where you need to be at my doc office. Just need to wait long enough fro the swelling to go down. Be a squeaky wheel and get another fill if you need one

13cc VG Bands..anyone else?
Wow I ddin't know they had a 13cc band. Well I can tell you that in my 10 i needed 9.5 to get restriction. Also a gentleman with my same surgeon is at 13ccs in a 10cc band. I was concerned about how early I am on my journey to need it filled to almost capacity, then she informed me that they can hold way more and not to worry. Just keep going in for fills till you get restriction. It takes time and persistence

having second thoughts
I started considering surgery almost 10 yrs ago when rny was the only option here in the states. It terrified me as to all the possible complications. But I always new that wls was there if I got desperate. I was 300lbs at 25 as well, I know exactly where you are. I'd love to have those 10yrs back of my life to be able to really live and not be a slave to my obesity and all the emothional and social and physical issues it creates. Only 2% of obese people ever lose all their weight and keep it off! That is a huge deal. The choice is of course yours, but think of why you decided to do it in the first place. Your fears are normal, but don't let fear stop you from living your life.

Not changing mind, but wonder if they're right?
I have always been a good dieter, but usually after about 30lbs I can't stand it anymore and I have to eat those forbidden junk foods that I love so much and I have to feel full again. I get so tied of feeling hungry. Ihad never been able to lose more than 30lbs before my band and now I am at -57. I did that all in the first 3-4 months. Then I needed a break from dieting but this time for the first time ever I didn't gain anything back! This is the best tool ever and only those who have struggled with weightloss can truly understand, whether they are brave enough to admit it or not.

Road to "TWOterville"
I can eat solid protien I was just afraid to eat veggie the way I like them el dente, was afraid a chunk might get past me and cause me to pb. Just taking it slow as I wasn't sure how fast the swelling would go down after such a bad pb directly following a fill, hehe. But I am sipping my fluids. I can't guzzle and gulp anymore but when I take frequesnt sips all is well :girl_hug: But if I was able to eat chicken yesterday I am sure I am not too tight :girl_hug: Today I think I will have a little tuna on melba toast, yummm and maybe scrounge for a little lettuce for a salad. :hungry: I can tell It's time for lunch, hehe.

10mo out and finally have restriction!!!
Yay, I finally reached good restriction The last fill gave me some restriction but not enough, but this one is fabulous. I am at 9.5cc's in my VG 10cc band and feel great! I am finally losing again :girl_hug: I have been plateaued for the last 6mo. I can't eat more than 1/2 cup at a time (if it's super mushy maybe 1 cup for the evening meal) and I stay full for hours. Only downside is that I can't gulp my water anymore, I have to sip it, but heck I can live with that.
-
4 WEEKS Post Op advise?
It's perfectly normal to feel hungry, and to be able to eat large amounts. Just be careful with your new band. Don't risk a pb at this point, stick to your mushies. As for water, gulp if you have to to get it in now, cause later you may not be able to gulp anymore. I know some people who can gulp with good restriction but I sure can't. Water intake has to be my primary focus during the day or I don't get enough, so practice getting enough now. As for weight loss, how much you lose now will be all you, the band won't start to really help you till you have good restriction. Good luck and congrats all you new bandsters
-
What is NORMAL?
Well first bite syndrome is caused by spasms in your stomach/stoma. Mine has actually lessened a little with my last fill now that I have restriction. I too could feel the food going through and it was sometimes uncomfortable but didn't hurt. It should never hurt when you eat. But now the food backs up immediatly to fill the pouch and I never actually feel it going through (probably because it goes through so slowly) unless I didn't chew a piece well enough, hehe. My advice is to go see your doctor, he should be able to fix things so that you are comfortable and full on your little servings
-
What is NORMAL?
Doughmommy, I can totally relate, I was at 8.5cc's and relatively no restriction, I tought there must be something wrong with me. When I went in to see my fill nurse, she informed that I was perfectly normal and that the vg band won't burst till it hits around 33cc's! So basically if you aren't feeling full and you are eating solid foods then go in and see your doc or whoever does your fill and tell them about the discomfort and the lack if fulness too. My discomfort was just firstbite syndrome, in the mornings i had just enough restriction to get that. There is no way to know til you go have them check you out

Road to "TWOterville"
I hear you Elisabeth, my left knee is in bad shape. If I were to excersise I'd be getting cortosine shots as well. Best I can do is just stay on my feet most of the day, cause any kind of lunging or walking on uneven ground is a killer. And Ooh ooh ooh, I am so excited, this fill is GREAT:D My band is actually working the way it is supposed to. I had 1/2 cup of chicken and mashed taters for brunch and 1 cup of the leftovers for an early dinner 4 hours ago and still am full . I did have to take a nap for some head hunger issues. Hubby was fixing my computer (hard drive bit the dust this morning) and so I had nothing to do but wait which drives me nuts, so... nap time. Tomorrow I will venture some food that is full on solids so I can get my veggies in too. Was a little too scared to do that today yet. But all in all I have had 600 calories today :girl_hug: I need to drink a protien shake to get some more protien and nutrients in. Too late in the evening to eat something that will still be sitting in my pouch at bedtime. BTW everything about my weight loss that I used to call my mom about everyday I will inevitably post here as I need to share it with someone. I kinda feel like this is my little support group right here in this thread. I hope all of feel that way too :girl_hug:

Road to "TWOterville"
It should start tomorow, everygirl deserves one really good piece of chocolatae on valentines day  just one mind you, and for me it will have to melt in my mouth. I really swelled up yesterday afternoon after my fill. I know I will go back to where I was when they filled me and will be good after the swelling goes down, but for now I am on a liquid diet. Tried some cream of chicken soup last night (homemade too) it was delicious I might add, but alas I was too swollen for even the tiniest piece of chicken to go through and had my very first PB. I thought I had had one before but while it might have been a really mild one this one was terrible. Now I know why everyone talks about them the way they do. Part of me felt great because I felt initiated into the land of good restriction and the occasional pb when you mess up. The other part of me felt wretched, it took 3 really good heaves to get that stupid piece of chicken out. This was canned chicken too, super moist and squishy. Yuck, I sipped on sf hot cocoa after that cause it made everything feel better. This morning I am having a protien shake. Maybe for lunch I will try something mushy and see how it goes. Oh and I almost forgot, I had a bad day on Saturday and ate a bag of m&m's ove rthe course of several hours, was feeling really low that day. Gained weight :omg: went up to 303, after yesterday's fill I am back down to 300 and I am positive that it will be going nowhere but down now that I have this fill

Road to "TWOterville"
I went in for my fill today She said not to worry about how many cc's I have in my band, they can hold up to 33cc's before they burst!!! Wow:eek: Anyway, I am sure I won't need that many, I bet no one does, but them's the facts, hehe. Anyway, I told her I could still eat bread and really anything and that I didn't have to chew very well cause everything just goes down. She checked to make sure I wasn't leaking any saline and all is good there, yay. Then she gave me another cc so now I am at 9.5cc's. My uncle took my banded aunt and me out to brunch after our fills (she got one today too). I ordered an omlet cause I figured it would be pretty easy to eat and it was. For the first time since I was a baby bandster and healing and all swollen I actually had to chew really well! And I was actually full after like 15 little bandster bites! I think I may finally have some good restriction going on Bring on the weight loss cause I am gonna meet our next goal, when was it for again? lol.

Good Job LapBandit I am saving my days calories for a treat tonight. Mashed potatoes and gravy, mmmm, with chicken of course it's the gravy that takes up so many pesky calories. I can deal with my tummy growling all day, I just can't stand it growling at night. I have been low cal tasteless food all day just for that gravy, hehe. :hungry:

Road to "TWOterville"
Dang girl, you go Julie :clap2: Well after reading lots and lots of threads about restriction I see that I have some restriction just not nearly enough. I am so glad I am getting that fill on Tuesday. I think I have just had a hard time dealing with the fact that I have needed so many cc's in my band, and blaming my slow weight loss on depression. I can swallow pretty large pills still, not the really big ones but the medium sized (1/3") ones and four at a time at that.
