I need to vent
Thanks, Because I have a hard time with confrontations my hubby is handling the telling her off part. We'd like to keep our doctor if possible as we have known him for years and he is brilliant. He figured out in the first visit what I had known for years but no other doctor would believe, and I didn't even have to say anything! He knew from a few outward symptoms that I had PCOS, something I had been diagnosed with before, and that most of my medical issues were tied to that. It seemed like a no brainer to me, he was also the only one to order a full blood workup and actually test my insulin levels as well as my glucose, and discovered that I had hyperinsulinism, which will hopefull be helped tremendously if not in full by weight loss. If not for him, I'd probably still not be banded be gaining weight and probably crosesd over to being diabetic. So you see, we'd like to keep him. I just don't want to see her unless she apologises and never treats me like that again, and even then i would never again consider her a friend.

Tired and no desire to eat
Thanks everyone if you see my thread "I need to vent" all the answers are there. No it is not my thyroid it was going without a medication that my doc's nurse failed to refill on time causing a cascade of problems of all sorts. I didn't realize till today that the two were at all connected.

I need to vent
I figured out tonight they are related. I went off the handle at my husband multiple times today. We didn't have the money for the meds when the Rx thing finally got settled so my hubby is picking them up tomorrow. One is an anti depressant, I have that one, the other that got messed up is my mood stabilizer. I didn't realize that missing just one for a couple of weeks would be so traumatic but I guess it was. Normally I can go for short periods without one or the other and be fine (emphasise short) but with my mom's death I think it was just too much for me to deal with without all my medicine. I think it is causing my jumpiness, tiredness, crankiness, etc. thankfully tomorrow once that med is in me I will start feeling better within 24hrs. Within three days I should be fairly close to being normal again. It's amazing when you your are in the situation you can't always see what is happening till it reaches a breaking point. As for the nurse and any test results my doc takes care of those himself and I trust him completely. She on the other hand does all the refill stuff.

McDonalds
I like wendy's chili, another thing that tastes good and goes down easily but is very bad for us calorie and fat wise is Jack in the Box tacos. They are crispy and deep fried and taste wonderful. However they are 700 calories for a small one, eek. As for mcdonalds i can't eat anything there except the salad without any meat on it. Even then salad is hard for me :cry I just can't chew it well enough so a few bites is all i can do.

Dehydrated?
Good rule of thumb, the darker your urine the more dehydrated you are. That does not take into acount vitamins coloring your urine, so if you are taking something that changes the color then that won't work for you. Just try to get down 64oz every 24hrs. As for the swelling, everyone is different, I swell withing the first 2hrs and stay swollen for a week! Others are fine and have very little swelling at all. Just take it slow and get to know your body

Pain in left side below rib cage
The shoulder pain was probably diaphram irritation. Our diaphrams can't register pain in themselves but display irritation through pain in the left shoulder. And after a flu and being swollen from vomitting it would be expected that there may be some diaphram irritation or port pain from straining all the muscles in your abdominal area.

Searching for answers
I am not sure how many cc's a 10cm band can relly hold but I do know that I was told by my fill nurse that a 10cc band can be filled to triple capacity before it will actually burst (not that anyone would need that much), I would assume that then a 10cm/4cc band can probably hold a lot more than you currently have should you be one of the rare people who need it with that much fill. Everyone is different, but if you don't have restriction and your surgeon won't fill you anymore than seek a second opinion!

drinking water fast?
I have to drink slow in the morning or if it's a cold beverage. If it's room temperature and later in the day to evening I can drink fairly quickly, but I cannot chug anymore.

Hi all, anyone have short problems??
I am not short but I am short waisted, so short waisted that the surgeon was concerned about port placement. He favors below the ribs above the waist but for me those to are pretty well combined. Where my ribs end my waist starts! It no longer affects my clothing choices but it did for a long time. For the first 6months I wore stretchy waisted pants to avoid irritating the port. I also have fairly regular diaphram irritation from my band which belive is due to the shortwaistedness of my torso. Almost a year out from surgery and still if I slouch I get the shoulder ache, and I often get the hiccups now (really annoying since I can't gulp water fast enough to get rid of them)

Road to "TWOterville"
Well I successfully made it well into the 80's for my mom's birthday today. This will be a difficult day for me and for my whole family. I take comfort in knowing that something she sacrificed greatly for me to have is working and I am working it. She would have been 63 today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM I LOVE YOU! Tired and no desire to eat
Well if I was too tight I wouldn't be able to eat and I can eat just fine, I simply have no desire to. I have no symptoms of being too tight, no reflux, no PB's except the first one (was still swollen from the fill). I can eat between 1/2 cup and a cup at a time depending on the time of day, and I seem to have hit the spot where I am losing about 2lbs a week. Everything seems perfect with the band. Maybe I am just mental. CALL IN THE SHRINKS! lol

I need to vent
I just thought I'd update you all. So, before I called her she finally responded to a fax from the pharm. When I called her she had already responded and they had the Rx waiting for me. Bottom line is that the Pharm was telling the truth and she wasn't! We checked with the pharm and they told us the links that made it all fit. They stated all their faxes to the doc's office and the day and time and they told us what they told her, which is not what she said that they said (if that makes any sense). I was too upset and emotional to call her myself especially since she is one of my DH's clients with his business. So my DH called and left her a message stating what the call was for and surprise surprise it's been almost a week and she hasn't called us back! I really hope she is squirming and feeling sorry for the way she treated me that *#@%!

Tired and no desire to eat
Well considereing my husband has been snipped for some time now and I have PCOS I doubt very much there is a chance in hades I could be pregnant, I wish :girl_hug: I forced down some protien and ended the day at my minimum my surgeon wants me to have. But I didn't want to, and sadly I am still tired and very cold. I must be coming down with something and with my luck it will mean a trip to the doctor and having to remind him to prescribe small pills or liquid. And dealing with that nurse!

Tired and no desire to eat
No fever or pain yet, just fatigue so far. But with 5 kids to bring stuff home to you it could be anything. As long as it doesn't involve puking I'll survive. I have had a bad headache for a few days, a sinus headache. Maybe I'm getting my yearly sinus infection.

Tired and no desire to eat
Ok folks, this is the second day in a row that I am just not hungry and have no desire to eat. Yesterday I had 1/3 cup of chicken salad and 2 melba toasts and that wasn't until dinner time. Finally I ate a bowl of Sherbet thinking it might stimulate an appetite of some kind. Today I have been helping a friend from church move and all I've eaten is a spoonful of peanut butter (about 2tbl). I am not hungry at all and I'd rather take a nap than eat anything. Not even my favorite junk foods that always mess me up have any appeal. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I'm just getting sick and don't know it yet. I am also having a hard time getting in my water, just don't feel thirsty. So I am having to remind myself to drink.

Where is everyone's port site?
yes they have a lower profile port that people sometimes switch to when they have plastic surgery after reaching goal. I felt a woman's port who was at goaland she was really thin. Her's was center right below the sternum. It did stick out a tiny bit but not enough that anyone would notice unless they were looking for it, and hers was not the low profile one. As for where mine is, it is my right side between my rib cage and my waist.

What Was Your First......
I am not sure but I think it might have been tuna fish. But I remember my one baby PB was on chicken and my my one really horrible PB was on chicken. Needless to say to all those who want chicken for their first meal, be careful and go slow, lol. I've heard that chicken can be an iffy venture for a lot of bandsters.

Road to "TWOterville"
Welcome to Twoterville Lizrbit! :clap2: LapBandit, you have lost so much weight, your body is probably having to readjust everything and there is no telling how long it will take. I wathced mine do that when I hit the border and stayed there forever. My belly used to be symetricl then as I lost it became very unsymetrical. At the border it spent 4mo becoming symetrical again, lol. And now it is starting to get unsymetrical again, lol.

Road to "TWOterville"
Today was a really bad day for me. I felt yucky and so tired so I slept till 3! That was after getting up at 7 to see the kids off to school, I actually napped from 9-3. As a result, I am way low on my water for the day and yup you guessed it, way below my protien needs. Sigh, and now I am just tired and my head hurts so I am going to bed. Tomorrow we are helping a lady from church move so it will be a grueling day.

Can't take it anymore!
I am wondering if they used a poor choice of band size for you. I would definitely get a second opinion, you should be able to eat healthy foods and solid protien. Please do keep us all posted.

Bandster with first time problem
I have first bite syndrome too, and from what I understand it is very common. Even water gives me first bite in the morning or after a nap. I have to take a few sips then wait a few then I can drink to my hearts content, the sam ewith eating except I'm full after a small amount, but the discomfort goes away. Best thing for me is to be patient or drink something nice and warm first. One thing I have found is that it is not an indicator of my level of restriction at all.

should I still be in pain 3 weeks after Surgery?
What you are experiencing sounds perfectly normal to me. Many bandsters complain of port pain or discomfort off and on for the first year. It does get better, I promise. Most surgeons sew the port directly to the muscle so that it is more secure. Unfortunalte it also makes it more tender for a while. Just take it easy, supporting the port site is a good idea, whether with a support garment or simply by firmly pressing the area with your hand for momentary discomfort. As for fixing your hair, I didn't want to do mine for several weeks either and it was just past my shoulders, so you are definitely not alone there. If it eases your mind to see a doctor go for it, but I doubt anything is wrong. I understand the feeling like you are gonna fall apart with the stitch thing. I experienced those same fears, it was my very first surgery and I was afraid I was just gonna bust right open, but I didn't. Just relax and visit this site anytime you need advice or for someone to reassure you that is what we are here for :girl_hug: Congratulations on entering Bandland :cake:

Calorie Requirements for Each Stage?
My nutritionists view (and she is banded and at goal) is that, we should get by on as few calories as possible and still get in our protien, dairy, and veggies.

Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
I would go to the doc just in case. It's amazing what can be contracted in a department store or grocery store. I normally don't think about all the germs coating everything but I do know they are there, most of the time harmless but I would go to the doc. In the meantime all the above lotions are great. We use Aveeno in our house. And oatmeal really does work!
