APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
I'm in on the food challenge. I avoided the grocery store today because I was craving doritos so badly (I will have to go tomorrow). Lucky for me I just had a fill so despite my head hunger I can't eat yet, still very swollen, applesauce is almost too much! In a few more days though it will be perfect and hopefully my head hunger will be gone. It's like this evil monster I can't get out of my head right now! I started logging my food several days ago again and yesterday and today I'm well below 1000, heck I'm well below 800 thanks to only having protien shakes before the fill I was up to 1800:omg: but the extra restriction from swelling won't last more than another day or two, so a challenge it is to stay below 1000 calories everyday this week. I got no excersise in today thanks to a sick child at home. I didn't want to leave him home alone. So tomorrow I've got to get moving again.

Road to "TWOterville"
Yay Libra grats on 90lbs gone forever! This new fill seems to be exactly where I was after my last fill which was perfect restrictin so I am very excited. I am experiencing head hunger all over again though but it will pass in another day or so

Wow! What am I doing wrong.
I agree a calorie range can be helpful, I do 800-1200 and that seems to help a lot. It averages to about 1000 a day. Keep in mind that on 800cal per day there is no way you can gain fat! Your weight will fluctuate with fluid retention changes. Don't get frustrated, to gain a pound you need to eat approximately 3500 extra calories! If weighing makes you frustrated at times try weighing in less often. You don't have to worry about the weight creeping up on you as long as you keep track of what you are eating everything will be fine.

OT- Forum layout change=forum doesnt work as well
Mine is still broken too. When I post it gives me the can't find page error, the same error when I try to open a thread in anyway other than directly clicking on the thread. All the skips to places, like view first unread or clicking to view a response to a thread, give me the error.

OT- Forum layout change=forum doesnt work as well
I agree, it is not working well. Hopefully they can work out the kinks. I am not able to use the view first unread function at all, it puts me to an error page. I hope it gets fixed soon!

ist fill and bad taste after i eat
Does it come with the feeling that you need to burp? Weird question I know but when I get a fill and I get swollen from it I experience the burping thing along with a slightly weird taste for the first couple of days while the swelling goes down.

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
Kat I hate when kids do things like that and get away with it :angry That is why I am so strict about safety and respecting other when it comes to my kids. If one of them did that they would be so busted! Grrr. I'm glad nthing bad happened but I would press charges just to teach those kids a lesson! Betty, I am sorry to hear of the set back in Alan's recovery, I will be hoping and praying that the new meds work and that he will be feeling great soon! I am on liquids today and probably tomorrow too, we'll see how the swelling goes, had a fill this morning and son't want to push it. Last time I rushed into mushies too soon and had a horrible PB so don't want a repeat of that! Due to the long drive it pretty much ate up my whole day so today is lost for the gym but tomorrow morning is calling me

current & former super size bandsters - exercise
When I started out I was told not to excersise till I had lost a significant amount due to my bad back and knee. Now here I am a year later and almost no back pain ever and no knee pain either! I used to be able to walk maybe 5 minutes before the pain stopped me now I can go all day on my feet and not have to stop for anything except eventually being tired. We all start somewhere and if 10minutes is where you are starting then that's ok, when you get comfortable there add some time to that, eventually it will get easier and for many people it actually starts to get fun!

What do you want to know about it?

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
Effica, I hear ya. I was feeling that way too so I went and got a fill today, I am hoping this fill does the trick to get me back in the good habits I have created this last year and away from the old bad habits of days long past that made me fat in the first place. I am one of those that likes to be on the tighter end of the good restriction zone. It helps me stay in line and make the good choices.

I just had a fill, am I too full
I swell for a good week after a fill, so I never even question whether I'm too tight till a week has gone by. As long as you can swallow water and your own spit wait for a week before deciding if you're too tight.

Road to "TWOterville"
Yay I had to share this cause I am so excited! The last few months the waitlist at my clinic for a fill has been 2 weeks! I just called this morning to make an appointment and I go in tomorrow morning!!! Yay, tomorrow I will have good restriction again

Please put my mind at ease....
I wish I had something for you but I don't. I do know that you will not set off any metal detectors. Do take your card with you so you can get kids menu items. As for the rides I think you should be just fine unless you throw up easily then skip any that might make you do that and just relax and have fun

Road to "TWOterville"
Well I didn't want to do this but I need to post my backslide as it won't be 100% gone by tomorrow without a miracle. I have discovered that I definitely need a fill and getting back on the wagon has been difficult without perfect restriction. I think a part of me has enjoyed really eating those forbidden foods again. Are VG bands really less likely to slip?
Been banded for a year and no complications at all so far, knock on wood. I am up to 9.5cc's and it's time for another fill. I have had 2pb's total and slimed maybe 5 times over the last year. It took me a long time to get good restriction though which was frustrating.

Rice
I can eat brown rice just fine in small amounts but not white rice. I have the whole family switch over.

Low Fat Low Carb
I am afraid I have had to just wing it. I have found it very difficult to find recipes that are both low in carbs and fat as well. It seems the whole world is eother one or the other, no wonder there is such an obesity problem! I just cook simple meals these days, If I use any fat in cooking it's olive oil, I use brown rice for the rest of the family and chicken or fishand veggies. I use fat free salad dressing, you can make your own even with a little vinegar and olive oil. I tend to use a lot of herbs and seasonings to give flavor to my cooking rather than frying it or sauteeing it. If you are not good with throwing different seasonings together you can get the packets in the grocery store and they are great to add to any meat or veggies and add great flavor. Hope this helps

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
Julie it sounds like you are doing great! Tracy, you have been so busy, good for you Betty, I will be thinking about you with your marathon tomorrow morning while I am walking my treadmill This weekend has been so busy, whew :faint: Friday, I organized my clothing storage by size in brand new rubbermaid bins. Cleaned out the storage closet and put away all my stoarge stuff. This included getting a lot of boxes of clothes and christmas ornaments out of my living room, hallway and bedroom! It took me 3hours! Saturday, DH and I took the kids to IKEA for my new chairs and stools to go with my new table that is due to be delivered sometime late next week, and a much needed new bunkbed for the kid's room. My DH and kids got separated from me and we never did find each other till a good 2 and a half hours later. I finished all the shopping myself dealing with the warehouse and all. I was pushing two carts of furniture for a while till one of the employees saw me and came to help me to the checkout. Then they loaded my car in the loading zone so I lost my good parking space. Went searching for DH and kids as I was ppoped and ready to go home. Speed walked through the store twice looking for them and finally sat down at the designated if you get lost spot (the entrance). They were looking for me and while I was sitting on the bench they were sitting in the grass next to the old parking spot waiting for me to come find them there. DH finally listened to the kids and came to the entrance. I had had him paged multiple times but each time he was somewhere he couldn't hear it I guess. Anyway we finally got home and I put together all 4 chairs and all 6 stools. Tomorrow is the bunkbed, but first I have to clear out most of that room and get the twin bed out of there. By the end of the week all of my storage will be organized and everything in it's proper place!

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
Yeah I actually ate pizza tonight! I'm filling up fairly quickly but I'm not staying full anymore. For me if I can eat anything breadlike it's not good. Dang it it's gonna be the first one I have to pay for  I just knew I should go last week when it would have still been free. I am so jealous of your living on a ranch Kat. Tracey you are doing great! Lap_Dancer grats on the 10lbs so far, that is wonderful

5 days banded what are you eating?
www.bariatriceating.com has it in the rtd (ready to drink) section of shop for protien. I haven't tried that one yet so not sure how it tastes. Grazing in your liquids phase is very normal and totally ok. The most important thing is that you stay hydrated, and second get your protien in. If you have a hard time with water being so bland try crystal light or other brands of drink mix that is no cal or extremely low cal. Oh and grats on getting banded

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
 YAY BOO!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Standing Ovation ! My life is boring right now, just plugging along and realizing that I need a fill badly. Who knew that 25lbs would make such a difference in how much restriction I have. Or maybe I've learned enough about chewing that I didn't have as much as I thought till I started slowing down and chewing better. Not sure but either way it's time.

I was told, Im ruining my surgery
Why were you eating solid food at 2weeks post op?!?! Most docs tell you at least 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks mushies, two weeks soft solids, then at 6 weeks solid food. They have us do this for a reason, so that our stomachs can heal and the band can "seat" itself around our stomachs. It is very important that you adhere to what your surgeon gave you for post op instructions. What you choose now can affect how likely you are to have a slip later on. As for your dad, he is not your surgeon nor is he your conscience, do what you know to be right. I know the post op is difficult because you are hungry but it is sooo important.

APRIL Bandits' Exercise Challenge!
Yay Sheila grats on entering bandland :clap2: I know you hurt right now but it really will pass and soon! The first few days are the worst, after the first week I needed no pain meds at all and just had a little port discomfort but no other pain. Get plenty of rest sip sips sip your water and walk walk walk. That's all there is to the healing, oh and follow the post-op diet! You don't want to stress your band or stomach while you are healing this is sooo important.
