    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Thanks for the update, Molly Jo! That gives me hope yet!! I got banded on 10/28, have only lost 4 lbs since then and and just got my 3rd fill this last Monday, 1/19 . When you say that you got your fill in December then all of a sudden it just happend -- can you say what changed for you? .......Did that December fill kick in later, or were you doing things differently, or was it a slow loss from the December fill until now? I've been eating less (but not as little as I thought I would!!) and going to Curves 3x a week with walking in-between that. Sheesh, I thought I'd be further along than this! :tt2: ...Sorry for all the ?s, but I really appreciate any feedback!! Rosie

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

YAAAAY! Its official! Even with my headcold & all - since i had no fever - i was able to get banded on Tuesday, 10/28!! I stayed overnight @ hospital & Dr. Robert Davis' team @ University General in Houston were wonderful! ...I'd say other than the hospital team, the best thing I did was have my boyfriend stay in my hospital room w/me overnight since they allowed it. You can't really move around @ all by yourself, and getting in & out of bed and to the bathroom alone teathered to a big IV wouldve been miserable! So got home yeserday, and I've been doing good. Just really out of it, sore especially @ the port incision & mostly resting, but making sure to walk around every 2 hours... It helps. Fortunately i didnt have the gas issues & pain some of you all had in your back & throughout your body, but my stomach does a whole lot of gurgling! Maybe its just doing a happy dance since surgery's over! LOL! Thanx for all the recipe tips - thats some creative thinking!! =)

Congrats on beeing banded!! Good you came through the surgery well. I think the pain part just goes hand-in-hand with it being a surgery... But you are now happily on the other side! YAAAY! I'm so glad for you!!! As for me, not so great. I'm due to get banded on Tuesday, but just came down with the worst head cold! Its the weekend so the Dr office is closed, but I'm sure they will have to re-schedule with due to my fever, sneezing & coughing. What rotten timing!! =( But i guess I'd rather be sick now & get it over with first, then have the stress of surgery bring it on.... I can only imagine how much it would hurt to sneeze & cough post-op immediately after surgery!!!!

I went to Amazon.com to order it - and amazon also pointed me to several other really great books on band surgery, and every post-surgery cookbooks... Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Hey everyone! I’m brand new to this site & looking around is actually making my whole journey to surgery much more REAL! I’m gonna be an October “bandster” too… I’ve been going through the process since my initial consult this June 2008. Course I had to go thru the 90 days dietician, psych visit, and 2 sleep studies for apnea…Finally Aetna insurance approved me this Monday, Oct 13th and my date was set YESTERDAY for OCTOBER 28TH!!!! I’d originally intended to get the gastric bypass, but changed my mind to go with the Band about a month ago…. It is such a hard decision! I have a lot of weight to lose – to me anyway (130lbs), and my Dr specifically recommended bypass. Its his specialty & he is very renowned for doing it……So, I was all ready to go ahead full steam, but then started doing more research. Bypass just seemed so extreme considering I currently have no other co-morbidities…I certainly don’t want to shortcut the process, and I know there’s no quick fix in any case …. Its soooo hard!!! I guess my recent change of mind regarding surgery type has me a little more nervous than I was before….Questions keep running thru my mind:…. Will I be able to lose all the weight I want? …What about the lastest European/Swiss reports about the band having high incidence of long-term failure? ….Would the bypass be a better option for me???? That said – of course I’m VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!! :wink2::laugh::laugh:.....My friends have been wonderful, but my family not so much…. They are against it. I hope the results make it all worth while…. Anyway just thought I’d chime in to introduce myself – look forward to chatting and getting to know everyone better!!!!
