10 cc band
I have 6.3 cc's in the 11 cc Vanguard band and have some restriction but not enough. I was good for about 3 weeks after the 3rd fill but the last fill of 0.3 cc's really didn't do a thing.

How will I keep my secret in this situation?
Just be honest and tell the social club people that you're watching your weight and are simply eating less... it's the truth. I have been banded for 5 1/2 months and only 2 people know.

Acid Indigestion
Call your MD in the AM. You need a Rx for an acid blocker such as Pepcid, Prevecid, Nexium, etc. You can go to the drug store and get Pepcid over the counter. The Rx dose is 20 mg twice a day. I hope you feel better.

Hello everyone
Best of luck with your surgery. There's a lot of good info here so read, read, read and feel free to ask questions.

Ah...four more days!!!
Best of luck on the upcoming surgery. I found walking, bending and taking Tylenol (instead of Vicodin) went a long way in making my recovery easier.

Today is my day.
By the time you read this it will be over so let us know how you're healing.

E-mail Petitions
I heard those petitions are a way of collecting names for email promos. I delete them.

Hello Everybody
Welcome and good luck on the upcoming surgery. My pointer is to get up ASAP after surgery and walk. Also, get off the pain meds and onto just the tylenol as soon as you're able to. Both of these things will lessen the gas pains and get you feeling better sooner.

In Honor of those who gave it all 5 years ago
I live in New York and know several people who lost relatives. It's nice to see how we continue to honor those who lost their lives in the disaster.

I don't get it
You're like MOST people so don't despair. Once you start getting fills, the band will start working and the weight will come off. Call and get your first fill scheduled and see if they will allow you to advance to solid foods. It's often easier to control the caloric intake when you're eating solid protein.

Got my surgery date----WoooHoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations on gaining approval and getting the date.

Advice, what to do?
You might want to reconsider and "save" the ticket for when you KNOW you actually do need a fill.

Child support
Make it legal. You don't have to go through the court but you should each get a lawyer. In New York, child support costs 17% of the salary for one child.

I have to have another surgery :(
Best of luck to you. I thought the gallbladder surgery was easier than the lapband surgery. Let us know how you're feeling post-op.

Can't eat in a.m....why?
It sounds like you're too restricted. Being too tight can cause complications so call your MD for an evaluation and a possible small unfill.

Time between fills?
Most MD's want you to wait at least 2 weeks before getting a second fill. When you get a fill, there can be some swelling and occasionally it can take up to two weeks before you feel restriction. Some people swell at the time the fill is given and experience less restriction as the swelling subsides. In general, 4 weeks between fills seems to be the average.

How soon to drive?
I was driving 3 days post-op.

Unflavored Protein Powder, Do You Or Don't You?
I don't add protein to my food but I do keep the Medifast ready-to-drink chocolate shakes on hand. They are 90 cals and soy based and give me 11 G protein... most importantly, they taste really good.

Awareness of food moving down???
Peristalsis is the process of the muscles moving food down the esophagus and into the stomach. When unbanded, I had no sensation of this. However, with the band and some restriction, I actually can often "feel" the food being moved along.

stupid ? about vomiting
Glad I could assist. :-)

stupid ? about vomiting
The band is sutured to muscle so it's pretty secure. I have had the flu and vomited and all is well with the band. Slippage is always a possibility and there is never a "time" when that possibility lessens. With the newer surgical techniques, slippage is occurring less. Also with such a small hole to pass though, how does the vomit get out from the lower stomach area.....is it a much bigger ordeal than before the band? When you vomit, you generate a fairly good negative intra-thoracic pressure so no, it's not harder to vomit from the stomach through the pouch. However, don't confuse vomiting associated with the flu with a productive burp. In THAT instance, the food is in the stoma and can't pass into the stomach. Peristalsis is the act of moving food down and mucous aides in that process. So, some people bring up slime while others bring up the food in the pouch. Because the food in the pouch has not mixed with stomach acids, it's only partially digested. I hope that helps clarify things a bit for you.

Poll - Heavy Handed Moderators
I have been a moderator on two other forums and seemed to have more "tools" at my use such as a silence mode and a 24 hour ban. It's sad that there was a need to create them let alone use them. Thankfully, things have quieted down now.

What constitutes '3 days'?
My surgeon counts the day of the fill as day one so 72 hours sounds correct.
