    December 23rd bandsters

I had a really difficult time with pain and ended up getting Loratab. That helped. Walking a lot helps me too. I am able to tell a gas pain from a regular pain from a hunger pain and can tell when I'm full. Had difficulty with elimination also. After prune juice and serveral doses of a laxative, I choose something that I loathe...coffee. After a few sips, releif came. :tongue_smilie: I have my first appointment with my exercise therapist tomorrow and will return to work (office job) on Wednesday. Congrats to us all!!!

    December 23rd bandsters

I was banded yesterday, 12/23. Did good in recovery. Had a little difficulty urinating. Got home by 2pm and the journey from hell began. I was able to sip about 8oz of Water, eat two popsicls and 4-6 teaspoons of Jello. I was given the option of taking a pain reliver over the counter (i got tordol in the hospital but it wore off quickly!!) or a prescription one that my insureance did not cover. I choose tyleno extra - strength. Didn't work. I choose Aleve and Ibuprofen. Neither worked. I laid in the bed writhing in pain until 2am when my Mother, who's watching me and is a nurse, was at her wits end and bundled me up and headed off to the drug store. I filled my prescription of Celeberex (14 pills for $62!!). I finally stopped moaning about 5am today and got some rest. WHEW!!! Going to have some water and hot tea and maybe some broth later. What an exprerience. It will be worth it though!

    Protien Shakes

I've been using several options: Carnation Instatnt Breakfast sugar-free, Boost Glucose Control, Slim Fast Optima or Glucerna. I had coupons for most of these. You can register on their websites and they'll send them to you in the mail! I'm adding yogurt or skim milk, ice. My pre-op diet includes raw vegetables (carrots and celery) twice a day. I've added these for my morning shake. Put it in the Magic Bullet...never taste it!! I've also added a dash of vanilla extract, splenda/equal/sweet & low and lite pancake syrup.

I can't wait for Dec. 23 @ 8:30am to get here!! On Day 3 of my pre-op liquid diet...UGH! I guess it's not that bad. I've made it through two work-related holiday luncheons/prties this week. I'm glad to hear that you may have a say in where the port goes. Have lots of questions about fills. I have the "pleasure" of having to surgeons attend my surgery. I do NOT want Dr. Olsofka. HORRIBLE bedside manner. And seems shady to me. We're on our way to a healthier, thinner day!!!

I went for pre-op testing last week and that's one thing they stressed...Gas-X and Gas-X strps. Said to bring the strips on surgery day and use them in recovery! Needless to say, whenI saw that Walgreens has Gas-X on sale today, I went out and got my a supply.

    December 23rd bandsters

Had my pre-op testing on Friday, Dec. 12. Did okay...except the barium from the barium swallow...it didn't like me too well and I ended up having stomach cramps and the runs for 3 hours. UGH! Got the pre-surgery and post surgery diets. It doesn't look that bad. Did all of my grocery shopping for my "goodies"...Positive thinking. Already scheduled my beginning sessions with my exercise therapist. I start on Dec. 29, unless my surgeon states otherwise.

Anxiously awaiting my pre-op testing on Dec. 12. I will get my "lovely" pre-surgery liquid diet plan then. My friend's have talked my into getting a bikini wax so I can "prepare" for my catheter. Does the torture ever end?? Noticing some "friction" and "bad vibes" from a co-worker who was denied for the surgery. She previously had jaws wired shut, joined Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and had her stomach stapled and is STILL non-compliant. I've just learned to "shake my haters off" and go on with my life.
