  1. Welcome Margie! Yes it does take time to get the proper restriction, and even MORE time to restrict our head hunger! I hope you'll keep coming back her for the support you need. All the best!
  2. Oh heavens no! 1200 is WAY too much food after lap-band. I probably eat the most out of all of us, I got close to 1200 today (1,153) but that was a big day for me and I am in training so I burn off 800-1,000 calories a day. They want us eating more like 600-900 calories, I average 900 to 1100 a day. BUT they don't want us to count cals exactly - just to follow the post-op diet ("modified regular diet") in the binder. I am meat-free and wheat-free so I modify it a bit with Robin's help
  3. Tina where are you my friend? Do you want any dresses? Got some 14s and 16s bagged up, and will see you in Pinole on the 24th . . . lemme know?
  4. Hi John! Yay, I hope you guys can walk with us! Donna needs to pick us a team name, then we can all sign up when we click on the link in her posts :-) I like "Band of Buddies" Donna, not too out there? Donna I can't do a whole one either . . . yet! That's the point girlfriend!!! I have done a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) but never a whole one. I did a 20-mile walk-a-thon once when I was in high school, that's the farthest I have ever done BUT . . . the new me is now doing a whole bunch of things that I never imagined I would, so why NOT train for a marathon??? God is good!!! Can't do sacto support group meeting, will be 10King in beautiful Lake Tahoe :-) Do you know that I have 2 outfits size 10 hanging in my closet right now . . .I have not had clothes that size since before I got pregant with my daughter . . she is almost 26, so . . .27 or so years ago? Man. That just blows my mind! WHO KNEW???
  5. Wow, those are some great friends/family Jes! To do the liquids with you, WOW! I had a lot of support, but nobody did THAT for me! KEWL . . . .
  6. YOWZA! Sexy momma Jes! Do you thinks it's safe for you to have this surgery? For men out there I mean WOO-WEEE!!!
  7. A 5K is only 3.1 miles, we can ALL do this one folks. Pam! John! Want to walk you guys? Heather! Tamra! This is perfect for you, oh unless you had surgery the day before . . and at the rate you guys are going, you probably will!! Jeez here I go again, psyched about exercise!!!
  8. I can speed-walk a whole 5K now, 12.5 minute miles and I'm shooting for 12 minute miles . . . that's truly amazing considering that when I started walking my goal was to be able to do a single 20-minute mile without stopping :-) Aren't our bodies amazing things?
  9. OH! Donna & everybody, I see than Run for Mercy has a full marathon in Sacramento on December 6th, too! I'm going to need something to train for ladies!!! Nicole you in with me??? Band of Buddies, Banded Buddies, depends on how "out there" we want to be! You pick the team name, Cap'n Donna!
  10. So I went out "Nicoling" today, shopping for clothes & trying them on (no pics tho), and you know our girl is really onto something! I am TOTALLY motivated now! I was like looking at these little holiday dresses & trying on the 12s, of course they all fit and I was thrilled but then I thought, wait a minute . . . I won't be a 12 at Christmas! So I stared trying on some 10s, and you know some of them almost fit! So I said to myself, self, your mini-goal is going to be to get into a 10 by your birthday, which is toward the end of October. Do-able! And THEN I started thinking, well if I can get down to a 10 by my birthday, where might I be at Christmas 2 months later?? Pray tell, could I be in an . . . . 8???? Isn't that was comes after 10? An 8?? BUT THATS TINY!! WOW this is WEIRD. So I actually bought a "birthday" outfit (both pieces on clearance at Penney's for 4.99) that's a 10 pants and M sweater, the sweater kinda fits now but will look better when I'm down another 10 lbs. The slacks are a true-to-size 10, I need to lose another 1.5 inches or so off my hips to fit into them (I have 12s in the same brand/style that fit me great now but didn't exactly fasten 6 weeks ago!) So my clothes-goals may be unrealistic, but I now have faith that I WILL get there! Thanks Nicole for the motivation!!
  11. Donna that sounds like a blast! Hey if I can travel to Lake Tahoe to do a 10K, I sure should oughta be able to travel to Lincoln for a 5K, right? Maybe I can l hook up with my NEWLY BANDED buds Candra & Jes on the way & carpool like we did for Reggie's! They will be SO ready by then - can't wait!! Candra glad you are calm . . it was all just surreal for me once they got me in - which was within like 2 minutes of arrival - I just kept sitting there in the "spa" with warm towels and fluids and SMILING! I was SO excited :-)
  12. Holey cow Tamra, you are rockin' it!!!!!!!!!! woo-hoo!!!!
  13. Candra, here we go girl! I hope you are using your "successful surgery" CD it helped me relax SO much. Jes you are on deck!!! Heather you're going to be soon - sorry you feel funky-blah, I think it's all the negative ions in the air! It's been raining here for hours, we totally need it so YAY :tongue2:
  14. Good morning Jess! We had thunder & lightening starting about 2 am, just rain now. We so need it! But the big annual picnic bbq of the sonoma county weight loss surgery support group is at 11, outside . . . we shall see how that goes! They will have a tent but its windy here too . . . . Well I'm going to suit up & walk to starbucks. You all remeber our motto from last year, about excercising in the rain? "I'D RATHER BE WET THAN FAT!" TTFN!
  15. :laugh::party::cursing::party::biggrin::party:!!!!!!
  16. You're a good mommy Nicole, and I've seen you be firm with her. You're not going to spoil her . . unless you make the same mistake that I made and not insist that they have chores . . . . . .
  17. Your friend is an ignoramous! She's at an age when attachment issues are totally normal . . . .
  18. YAY, 6:30 am on Monday was my time and day too! WOO-HOO that's a good sign Candra babe! Sorry I can't fit in one single more thing this weekend, I am go-go-go!!
  19. Nicole hunny glad you are feeling better! How is that sweet Auds? Pretty darned hot there for that baby I'm sure . . . . La Chica, we TOTALLY support you making the right decision, and will totally support you all through the process! I am sure that Dr. Park went over why RNY is best for you, and I believe you've said you have diabetes . . . . well, RNY cures diabetes, so if it's 50/50 that's probably the best choice for your particular prese It's an endocrine surgery, while lap-band is not. So for you it makes sense! We're here for you either way. And as Liz says, it's only different for the first year . . . . we need support for the rest of our lives!
  20. hahahahaha hee hee hee ROF right now Jes!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Hello my friends, happy Friday! Tina I am SO going to miss you! I will see you at our fill on the 24th tho - remember we are going to walk upo the hill across the street so get there early!!! Can you believe it, I am actually down a lb. today . . . . I love my Mirena for keeping MOST of my TOMs away!! I have been working really hard tho, I have the Lake Tahoe Marathon on the 25th-26th so have to stay in shape - doing 8 to 10 miles a day now

180.2! Yipee! I lost all of the water 2 lbs a day for the last 5 days - weird! Blood pressure was fine the whole way through . . but here's a clue, yesterday I started my TOM which has not happened for a coupla years so - hey! Hormones, plus salt I guess. WHEW I am glad that's over! Thanks everyone for you support. Have a great Friday!!
  23. I had exactly the same experience with my first surgeon appt. - and I could not remember my questions either!
  24. Hi ladies! Down another 2 overnight, so finally within 2 lbs. of where I was last week! Ay caramba . . . still pee-ing like a racehorse, can't stop and I have a VERY contentious public hearing in an hour that I am going to have to stay in the room for what will probably be 3 hours . . oh boy. Well I was getting back to my house noticing the pretty color of the leaves and the flowers and all this morning, and I thought to myself, gee this is how I used to feel right before I started with the TOM, got into the house and guess what?? Yes TOM! I have not done that since Mirena a couple of years ago. Never been so happy to get it, I have really been freaked about WHY I gained so much Water weight so fast! This explains at least part of it! OK gopt to go eat my Quorn "chicken" so I can do my meeting all afternoon - hi to the newbies, hugs to you oldies - Candra I was 1st thing Monday monring for my band too, I think it's the best time! As long as they were not on call all weekend of course, LOL
  25. Sending up prayers and good wishes for ya Tina . . . . hang in there, they replaced 6 positions in our department so you may make that cut . . . . OMG girls I have NEVER peed this much in my LIFE!!! I can't even get a report typed out it's ridiccy! Like, I left a 1.5 hour meeting 3 times to pee this morning, seriously this is CRAZY
